Just looking at the disparity between the two.... An average of $2million per match won for the woman to $9million for the guy... I'd say the need for equal pay was overdue. Having said that... I think it should be on # of games played.

Your maths is way off unfortunately. The number of grand slam wins is not linked to the prize money earned in their career for starters. Secondly, none of Djokovic's grand slam wins are from playing doubles, unlike Serena, where prize money is a lot less, so even if those amounts were linked, her average would be brought down heavily.

Grand slams pay equal prize money (not going to bother going into the argument of best of 3 sets vs best of 5), as for the non-grand slam tournaments I am assuming they pay the men more prize money because it probably generates more revenue in ticket sales than women and therefore can afford to pay out more.

The AFL respect and responsibility policy is an interesting document.

Take for example:

Believe people when they tell you they’ve been r*ped or harassed or that they know someone who’s been r*ped or harassed. Support what they say about it. Don’t ask, “What were you wearing?

Or, Don’t ask “why didn’t you go to the police?”

Don’t engage in any form of sexual harassment, such as wolf-whistling or unwanted touching. Women aren’t public property, available for our intrusions. Neither are men.

Unwanted touching.

I’d be surprised if Powell Pepper doesn’t get more for this.

And in my opinion, Caro and Kochie should be given a fine as well for their comments and reporting

To be honest, even though I do dislike some of them, Business Bankers make good CEO.
Depends on the business & how much judgement & intuitiveness is required .....i would agree re manufacture / wholesale / distribution businesses

Is that right? From an article last year:

Top-earning Serena Williams has pocketed some $81.7 million in prize money since the start of her career, during which she has claimed a record 39 grand slam titles.

The highest-paid male tennis professional, Novak Djokovic, has taken home $108.8 million but won only 12 grand slam titles.

Word of advice, you shouldn't form such strong opinions about things you know very little about. In that second post all you did was divide the total prize money of both those players by the number of their grand slam titles, and in doing so you exhibited ignorance in how prize money in tennis is awarded.

Jenny, that is the total money earned during their careers, not from their grand slam victories. Serena has won 72 titles, compared to Novak's 68. Djokavic has played about 35 more singles matches than Serena.

On top of that, 16 of Serena's Grand Slam titles were from winning the doubles and mixed doubles events, which pay much less than the singles (i.e. Men and women singles winners for the 2018 Australian Open got $4m each. The mens' and womens' doubles winners got $700k per pair and the mixed doubles winners got $175k between them).

So while Djokavic has earned more money per match than Serena over the course of his career, it is likely to have been around 30% more per match, not 4 1/2 times as much per match like you are stating.

From a dollar earned per set or per minute on court perspective, Serena may have earned more due to the fact that men play best of 5 sets in all the major tournaments, whereas women only play best of 3 sets.

Ahahahahahahaha

I always wondered what went on in there !!!!

Our rules however, require some conversation along the lines of a polite excuse me as we all run from the line up and race to the one empty cubicle .....

When Port/AFL talk about education for SPP as part of his one week sanction, handing him this brochure will be the limit of said education.

Oh My God
How sad they had to include the condition of a woman being awake for consent to be given !!!!!

Typical St Kilda ......they've always operated under the "Star" system ....this is why they've never been successful ...and why you can't have players / player managers hold our club to ransom (Lever)

I was going to post that also. Best of luck Rory if you choose to go there.

True, but has he done anything wrong? Outside team rules that is?
First off we don’t even know that’s the girl.

To me it looks like two girls walking past, he grabs one by the hand, she pulls away and then something to him and they keep walking.

If it’s not her it shows he was blind and hitting on who he could.

It’s funny reading the Paps version, according to one of them she was following him and he tried to get away.

From that video, it's just unwanted attention. And good on the mate for finally stepping in.

I'm sure that's not what she was basing her complaint on.

May not even be the same girl.

Just an excuse for seven to keep the story going for another day and show him legless.

If the half life of the training camp story is anything to go by one assumes this has another fortnight left in it.

Agree with all of that. But if this is the damming evidence, which I assume it is because they released it, then it doesn't make a case for anything other than he was blind drunk.

With that in mind, action should be taken against the venue for serving an intoxicated person....

It’s just evidence he was blind, they haven’t said this is evidence of the alleged assault.

Wasn’t that supposed to have happened in the nightclub anyway?
