How many fans now have 76ers as their 2nd team and how many have forgotten who their 1st team is. I admit I am on the 'Bendwagon' :tm:
They are the most exciting NBA team to watch.

Helps when Simmons is an Aussie.

Can't wait for the next Olympics and see him in a Boomers singlet.

Caught the MCG announcement on Sunrise this morning. (Don't judge me ... I was at the gym and the treadmill queens love it for some unknown reason).

Gilligan was asked if they'd thought about moving the GF around the country.

"We did, but planning for a GF requires 12-18 months planning and we won't know who's on top of the ladder until late in the season."

What. The. Actual. ****?

You think of moving the GF when it's only a home final? And that makes it hard to arrange? And somehow this means you don't realise Richmond played a GF at home? And Collingwood? And the Bulldogs had to drive another 5km down the road from their home ground?

I'd start to respect Gilligan again if he just started making cash register noises whenever he was asked about the Grand Final. Or just renamed the whole ****ing comp the VFL.

And Koch, you short-sighted lightweight nimrod, stop referring to non-Victorian teams as Interstate teams. It undercuts your whole argument.

Victorian election coming up. This is the same government that made the GF parade a public holiday.

I've been thinking for a while that interstate clubs should boycott the GF parade. Send out your reserves players or the boot studder instead.

It's a distraction and a waste of energy, and can only be a hindrance for the mental preparation for the big game.

The VFL aslo announced that the Brownlow will be held in Melbourne for another 10 years.
These announcements are just Victoria telling everyone who runs the show.
And spinless interstate clubs will just roll over like always.
Not just a reply to you but to everyone..... why SHOULDN'T the GF be played at the MCG.

I would love us to have played last year' at home but it's never going to happen and for some reason I'm ok with that.

Mal Brown did this as a protest in the Night Series competition. This was when games were mid-week and his team had to travel to Melbourne even though they were the higher ranked team. The vFL did not like it at all. But it did SFA

That's OK, just never complain about not winning flags.

I'm the same. It would be nice. The original agreement I knew ended in 2030 something and that was never going to change. I shall be dead by the time this argument comes around again.

Non-Victorian clubs need to understand that their interests will not be represented without collectivising.

10 Victorian clubs and the entrenched MCC all lobbying for Victoria will always win over 2 clubs lobbying for Western or South Australia.

The worst part is that many of the Victorian clubs benefiting from this structure have been financially sustained by clubs like West Coast and Adelaide.

We need a coalition of non-Victorian sides on matters of competition interest. We have big clubs, but they cannot outweigh Victoria individually. We need a power structure that can make waves.

If we don't get that, I suspect a breakaway league will happen in some form before the expiration of that deal in 2057. Without the start-up concessions that propelled non-Victorian sides to their initial premierships, results will drive disquiet and something will give.

We should be lobbying our clubs about this.

To those saying the MCG is the only stadium fit to host the Grand Final, no one will invest in stadiums for events that are not available to be hosted.

If the AFL opened the Grand Final to tender, and said it would be available in say, 2028, governments, clubs and the private sector could actually do business on that, and build stadiums, and build infrastructure.

Their Chairman is on Free to Air Television 15 hours a week on the same network.

That's some high level delusion.

Janus level even.
Interesting their Chairman is a C7 salaryman.

C7 broke the story, initiating contact with alleged victim after she told Port.

This big stadium thing probably has the other states screwed.
I thought the stadium they held the 2000 Olympic Games at held 100k? Or very close.
Being converted to a dedicated league stadium....to retain exclusive rights to the NRL GF.

I wouldn't have a problem with the MCG being like Wembley if:
1. Half the tickets (AFL members and MCC) weren't taken up by Victorians who are 99% likely to support a Vic club or sell their rights to others who do (the AFL membership in front of my standing room area was full of Richmond supporters...neutral lol)
2. It wasn't the home ground of several teams.

Because its a NATIONAL competition that is UNFAIR to a percentage of its teams. I would have thought SJW Gill would be on top of that.
No other national league around the world has this level of bias to.one section of its teams.

Quite frankly the interstate teams should tell the AFL to **** off at the end of these TV rights.
Breakaway league. Get every non-Vic team on board, bring in Tasmania and NT, and give the Vic teams 4 spots to fight over. The shit house suburban teams can die like they should've when the AFL started.

14 team comp, fair 26 round season, no preseason.

The longer the VFL keep refusing to adjust, the more likely this becomes. Matter of time.

The afl would have most stadiums tied up with contracts wouldn’t they?

And the grounds would look full and seem to have a demand to be watching the team instead of the spot the supporter or chair game that happens now when some of the VIC teams are playing at their "home ground".
Yep exactly. It's not like a lot of the games currently at the MCG or etihad are sell outs.

It would also remove the argument of taking the GF away from the MCG, as all teams would only play there no more than 5-6 times a year regardless if they were vic or non-vic. Making it a more neutral venue.
