Well stated.

Apparently a blokes ability is rated by what you pay him. It is a pure, unadulterated super-coach mentality.
It's easy to say that to suit your narrative when in actual fact i was all for keeping spud as long as we did. Wanted to keep waite this year and still want to give thompson rolling 1 year contracts until he isn't best 22.

It's not always black and white or "you either agree with me or you're a super coach fanatic"

Snake...if you don't think Majak is best 22 at the moment you're clearly a super coach fantasy football dickhead!

There's some confusion here between trade value and value to the side.

Michael Firrito wouldn't have netted a Powerball ticket in 2013 but was still a valuable contributor for 3 more years.

People should consider Goldstein from a similar perspective.
I will when Goldstein becomes a valuable contributor.

This is highly unlikely. We want the best midfielders in the competition as well. Does that mean we should move on Higgins and Cunnington, and play LDU & Will Walker?

Now your being ridiculous. Higgins and Cunnington have years of good footy ahead of them and are currently in career best form.

Goldy is serviceable but on a downward trend.

As I said happy to play him out this year and maybe next year if we can’t find a suitor for him.

Would be happy for North to pay half his salary next year if he can find a home.

Finding a replacement ruckman is very easy and Preuss is more than capable of matching Goldys output.

He was on a downward trend last year. But this year has shown some signs.

I think Snake was going to the extreme to illustrate a point.

Finding a 'good' ruckman is not easy and many clubs are still searching. Ultimately that is what clubs want, a good ruckman. And Preuss wouldn't match Goldy's output and part of the reason why Goldy is ahead of him at this stage.

The only way I'd trade Preuss was if the club made a play for Bailey Williams via live trading from his resultant currency.

I.e we got a early second rounder or a 2019 first from say Geelong and were able to package it for a live trade for Williams as he's available in the 12-20 range.

I think he's extremely unique, he's kicked some massive bags in junior footy, but is also genuinely elite ruck prospect athletically.

He's a better version of Paddy Ryder imo.

I would then be prepared to carry Goldstein to retirement with Xerri and Williams as developing rucks.

Live trading completely changes the game, being able to align needs with best available.

We're essentially trading a ruck for a ruck, but one that cashes in on the value of a developed one, for one that needs a few years, with probably a higher ceiling.

Is live trading going to be happening this year.

And did Xerri have a real good tank in juniors.

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has insisted three off-contract stars remain focused on the Magpies despite suggestions the vultures are circling.

Jordan De Goey, Darcy Moore and Alex Fasolo's contracts are all up at the end of the season, and the trio are yet to negotiate longer stays.

"I can assure you Darcy, 'Jord' and 'Faz' ... are all training and preparing to contribute as strongly as they can, in the short and medium terms," Buckley told reporters on Friday.

"We'd love that to be long term with all of them, and that's where we're working from".

De Goey, 22, has a chequered off-field record with the Pies, with Buckley this week pointing out that the club had supported him through a series of "dust-ups" including a drink-driving charge earlier this year.

St Kilda are reported suitors, as are North Melbourne, Essendon and Carlton.

Moore, the son of club great and two-time Brownlow Medallist Peter Moore, has 61 goals in 50 games for the Magpies.

Sydney, who have swooped previously for big-name forwards Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett, have been linked to Moore.

Club president Eddie McGuire rubbished the rumour, responding "I hope they (Swans) have got 15 first-round picks for him."

"He (Moore) will be sitting down with our leaders at the club ... in the next couple of days and discussing his contract," he said.

Fellow forward Fasolo, 25, is yet to play in 2018 after post-season shoulder surgery, although he has registered 13 goals in five VFL games this year.

Fasolo was Collingwood's top goalscorer in 2016 and chose to stay in 2018 despite concrete interest from West Coast.

"He's a victim at the moment of guys up top playing really good footy," said Buckley on Friday.

"(But) he's in a good headspace, he's tipping in to the program ... his attitude has been excellent, so his time will come".

Ninth-placed Collingwood face Geelong on Sunday at the MCG.

Stars are they - Ross Henshaw probably has as many Brownlow votes as all of them put together.

2018 1st rounder and Dumont for Wines.

If we got Wines, along with the likes of LDU and Ahern pushing through, Dumont might find himself outside the best 22.

Is from Adelaide and Port would have a solid player to replace Wines, as well as an extra pick around 10-12 in the draft.

What the **** has that got to do with Goldstein?

I figured there was another angle to your irrational bullshit. Now it's out in the open.

No angle at all. It was an impersonation of your response to most people that don't agree with you on this board. Using the super coach thing as a defense mechanism is funny most times but even funny when using it against someone that never uses the "go youth angle" at the expense of older players.

The daw thing was me using your logic because that's the only thing I've disagreed with in recent memory.

It's crazy...and stick we me here...people can disagree with you on one issue and not be a super coach fanatic. Weird concept i know.

I get it mate. Goldstein needs to step aside in the ruck, so Majak can get a full time gig in the back pocket.

Makes perfect sense.:thumbsu:

No. Goldstein needs to step aside because he has the physicality of a plush toy, loses 1 v 1 marking contests with Stephen motlop, and is continually declining (thankfully at a slower rate than past years).

Goldy going out has nothing to do with daw because daw is already best 22 at the moment. Daw's versatility allows us to operate without goldie (you know because goldy has tremendous cardiorespiratory fitness, despite having less TOG than most of the top rucks in the league).

I get that but what are we basing output on. That's like saying "how do you assess fitness?" And only suggesting cardiorespiratory endurance. Would goldie offer more physicality (tackling)? More contested marking? No. There are other variables at play and goldy isn't the complete player. He's marginally better than the next available.

Goldy is ahead of preuss. There is no doubting that otherwise he wouldn't be in the team. It's a lot closer than people think and if it wasn't brad wouldn't have to say "we are backing goldie in" every second week.

They can match the offer and we'd need to facilitate a trade. Pick in 10-12 range and Dumont is shit return for Port.
Uh no
He's not a free agent
He can go into the draft, if he wants to leave port can't stop him as he's out of contract and not a free agent

They have no leverage if Wines decides to leave so they would accept unders for him

But he’s not a free agent - if he wants to head back home it’s a matter of getting him to nominate North and then getting the trade done.

What do you reckon Wines is worth?

Dumont has as much value as my stale Salada biscuits sitting in my pantry.

In what parallel universe would Port even contemplate accepting nothing less than two first round picks.

Agree, Trent probably wouldn't get a run in Ports best 22, due to the fact that they have plenty of his type that are currently better.

They would much likely be more interested in a player like Sam Durdin.
