There are three clubs reported to be interested in Lynch, Tigers, Pies and Hawks. Only Hawks might have a top 10 pick. so I don’t understand how Suns are going to be guaranteed 2 top 10 picks?
The other club will just have to trade up to the first round using players and later picks .
Isnt that what the hawks did to get omera ?
Maybe a top 10 pick and a future 1st .

Say collingwood wants lynch they may have to trade say moore + 2018 first to a club for a top 10 pick then their 2019 1st.

O Meara is not a Free agent , so no combo pick . .

Why wouldn’t we take the compo pick being pick 3? 2 x later first round picks are hardly of similar value in this years draft when the elite talent is all at the very pointy end of the draft in the top 5-6 picks

Take 3 and if you wanted to you could trade it for more later on ... especially come draft night... if Luk is there to be taken ...the Crows will put out big time to get him.
I still think if you have 2 and 3 ..take the Kings ... good mids come every year and can be got thru FA or what ever...later in the draft etc. but the chance to get 2 twins at the same club should not be missed. You did once.. will it happen again?

If your happy with that then you wont match but you already have pick 2 . I would prefer having say a pick 7 or 8 and a future 1st .

It also means your rival teams dont get a gun for free

Pick 3 is more valuable then anything those three teams can offer.

What are the disadvantages of taking sam Walsh / Bailey Smith / Lukosius at pick 2 ,pick 3 compare to King twins ?
What good to add a player done an ACL into your Squad especially a team like GC with long list of injuries history ?

It all depends on how you see your needs and what approach Dews wants to take.

Max and his knee? You would know how much you guys have improved that side of your club..You facilities, medicals etc. but remember you take a player like Max.. for a long term Lynch replacement ..not for 2019. Thats 2mp and Crowley. If its that much of an issue ..the the afl have not done their job properly yet. If you really have an issue leave him local till he is ready. Think Danger in his first year at the Crows stayed in Geelong. ..but I think you should be able to do it.

To me the chance to have two guys like these both at your clubs , almost perfectly matching your outs is a unique chance ...having both probably give you extra retention. Rankine skill is tempting ... think Bennell in skill ..but is he a bit wild for you? And has already sent word out take me and I'm gone asap. Luk is apparently quality etc ..but will be almost certainly targeted by Crows.

If you lose May you will have ample chance to get mids.. id also look at 2-4 mature guys to take the pressure off guys. That will not appeal to all. You have a couple mids you drafted 2 years ago that have hardly played .. will that happen again. Imo ..Suns need to be chasing 6-8 wins and playing too many young mids will not make that happen.

But come draft night.. you may get an offer that you can not refuse. In Draft trading this year will change the landscape (if the eventually approve it)

GC wont get lynch compo they will match and demand 2 top 10 picks guaranteed .
Why would they not match they have the money already have pick 2 and no way lynch can PSD them .

Don't see it happening. Pick 3 is so much better than anything Coll / Haw / Rich could easily offer.
Think Lynch going to the draft is more likely than GC forcing a trade to be honest, and think that's about a 2% chance.
If GC match and ask for two top ten picks, I could definitely see the matched club just walking away.

Anyway, you could be right... Will be an interesting trade period this year, that's for sure.

I hope they match, bidding club walks away and he goes to Carlton in the draft.

Even though I think there is zero chance a club that bids on him isn't prepared to trade if forced. Sure they'd rather not, but you don't **** around and pull out if GC decides they want to make you pay. Clubs are too professional for that.

The other consideration if GC want the comp is if they have their own free agent target. They do need some senior reinforcements anyway other than just kids so it may play out better overall if they match and then let the clubs trade for him. They would want mutiple first rounders or a first rounder and very good player that will help them immedialtely.

Lynch's deal will likely be so big that they could recruit a free agent on not much and still qualify for band 1.

What is Lycett worth in a trade scenario?

a) 20-25
b) 25-30
c) 30-35
d) 35-40
e) 40-45

Depends on the side. A pick in and around the 30’s isn’t unreasonable

I don’t think lycett is of a quality worth a team matching and forcing a trade. You won’t get more than the compo and he’s not worth making a stand over.

If its like pick 32 then matching wouldn't make sense.

If it was worst-case scenario and the compo was like pick 39 then that's when you start thinking about it. You wouldn't do it to make a stand, you would do it because you'd be happy for him to accept the matched offer, and because you know you wouldn't get less than pick 39 in a trade.

I don’t think you’re getting more than that to be honest

If in theory he left and it was between port and crows crows aren’t putting Carlton’s second up. Ports not offering saints second and it’s hard to see us offering our second which is remarkably close to if not the same as the pick you might get for compo.

I think he is worth Narkevis and Witt's type of draft pick from other club , but if he is worth more to you , keeping him is the best option .why play around with matched offer if you don't value him internally with you initial offer.

Asking for another supporter base:

Tom Scully for the Saint’s future second rounder.

So in this scenario Collingwood effectively trades Moore plus 2018 and 2019 first-rounders for Lynch... i know we value Lynch highly but there is no way this will happen. Lynch is a restricted free agent.. This is why this is such a potentially big deal. Lynch to Richmond, for example, will make them even more likely to snare an extra flag. Or help Collingwood close the gap on them. Or put Hawthorn back in the frame.

No, the club which lands him will do so for salary cap space only. They will gain a gun full-forward, Suns will gain decent compensation pick and the losers in the whole business are all the clubs which finished above them and get pushed back a draft spot in the first round.

With the possible exception of Adelaide as i think Suns are far more likely to trade pick 2 or 3 if they have both of them. One of their first-rounders plus an inside midfielder (any ideas Crows fans?) should do it. Bingo, they have access to Rankine or Lukosius.

I feel if the Suns match any FA offer, it will be night on impossible to do a fair trade for him.

Any chance we might see a straight swap Petrevski-Seton for Cerra this year?
