Prediction 2018 trade hypothetical thread

I wouldn't do 5 for Kelly and Geelongs first so not a chance we would do that.
and I wouldn't give you a sweetener for that trade so wouldn't do that.

Why not, who loses out of this trade. I think reasonably equal. Pretty good compensation for gaff, and more salary room to get cognilio next year. For Carlton, gaff and McGovern are an a-grade and b-grade talent, will help them improve and Bolton and SOS keep their jobs. For Adelaide, pick 1 gets them the player they want if they think they need pick 1 for that, or ability to trade for say picks 4 and something else if stkilda want pick 1 badly.

Pick 1 for a free agent and McGovern? Horrible. Just draw a picture of you punching a man in the balls with arrows to identify you and Carlton in the picture.

This is assuming gaff is not really free as he will agree to be traded like Dangerfield did. Gaff knows that Carlton have a lot of developing talent, so him not being free to Carlton doesn't hurt their prospects of future success. They will probably as a result of this get future talent for free. I also think the afl would like this scenario.

Going to put this here since its probably ridiculous but apparently Melbourne met with May. My attempt at a ridiculous 4 team trade

Brisbane
Out: 4, 22
In: Neale

Melbourne
Out: Hogan
In: May & 17 (WC pick)

Suns
Out: May & 17 (WC pick)
In: 4

Freo
Out: Neale
In: Hogan & 22

Brisbane: Fair deal
Melbourne: Depends how they rate Hogan, seems surplus to needs personally. The team that may be getting the most shafted
Suns: Great deal
Freo: Great deal

Obviously good deal for Freo even with Hogan's foot injury. From reading the Melbourne board, they seem pretty split on what to do with Hogan given the Weids form and have talked about sending him to the backline. Instead of sending him back there, why not get a proven quality back who'd be a good upgrade (I assume they think similar if they've met with him) and pick 17 while your at it

Great effort mate.
Pick 22 might even help Freo get Lobb.
Although this seems fair from a BL perspective, I wouldn't be surprised if a future pick would be involved.
I could see the Lions ask for a 2nd round pick, yet part with a future 2nd rounder, to help us either draft a good young player or help us pick up our Academy player.

Thanks mate

Trades this complicated dont get done in real life but it looked like a chance to put forward a half decent trade across 4 teams, which is rare.

If you guys do get Neale, 4 and 22 is the absolute minimum i see us accepting and its less than historically similar traded have been done for (Beams, Treloar etc).

If you lose 22, can definitely see you trading future 2nd with someone else in order to get McFayden etc. Cant see how it would work in this trade

It's pretty simple, the ones that say trade him are morons.

Melbourne has already stated they won't trade him and nor should they, Weideman has played well but f*** me people are jumping the gun.

I also don't know why we are chasing May.
Neither do I. Baffles me.

In the unlikely event Shiel nominates the saints, how about the following 3 club trade:

Saints:
In: Shiel, pick 16, 24, Finlayson
Out: pick 4, 2019 1st round, Dunstan

GWS:
In: pick 8, Saints 2019 1st
Out: Shiel, pick 24, Finlayson

Crows:
In: pick 4, Dunstan
Out: pick 8, 16

For me take out pick 24 and maybe ~19 instead of 16.
I don't think Dunstan adds anything to Adelaide.

The Crows would maybe take him for backup, but I don't think he makes our team as a starting midfielder. We have a few of that type and need more inside-out speed.

We'd do 8 and 19 for 4, though.

Good effort.
However, I don't think North will give up two 1st rounders for and OOC Polec. We might find it will be Polec and a 3rd rounder for pick 10.
As for Wingard, pick 14 and a future 2nd rounder would be a good starting point. WB's pick 7 would be more appealing with so many gun SA's in the draft.

I’ve edited it to not be as harsh on North

Honestly don't see Port taking so little for Wingard. I think if Hawks want him, they need to find a way to secure an early first rounder for this year to pay for him or Port would just reject it and make Wingard stick with his contract

That's a horrendous trade for North. If we are giving up 10 for Polec, we'll be getting a 2nd or 3rd back, not giving up any extra.

Don't think Kelly's a wary first but think this will happen
Neil. Brisbane

Rough head saints
Gonna be busy

Not as busy as your spell check ;)

Would have thought a good, strong and tough key defender would be exactly what Melbourne needs? May is also a leader.

Frost and Oscar McDonald not really up to it imo. Lever is more a third tall type not key position.

GWS not GC would take these deals.

The Martin one will especially come short of what will be required. GC would want 8, Dea(if they’re interested) & more.
