I’ve slept on it and can’t believe the biggest club is settling between a no name from the local league and fricken John Aloisi lmao wtf
In these current environments we probably have no other choice, It will be difficult as has been mentioned in the above article to find a decent overseas coach on reasonable money and Dallas wasn’t exactly a proven coach yet see his demands?

I would encourage the club to go local, Papas would be a good fit imo has a good NPL record has worked with youth and is currently assistant to Ange at Yokohama. Might not present as well through which might be a reason he hasn’t gotten a gig in the league previously, but I’d rather take a risk at an unproven to handle a rebuild than a conservative view in Aloisi who has shown to have failed at two clubs already so why would he succeed at a third? He‘d just bring has beens in probably finish third or fourth for a couple of season then we will crash again and we will be in the some position as today rock bottom! But I guess he looks good in a suit...

No brainer for me Papas! Give him a two year deal if it doesn’t work out well we can’t really get any lower than we currently are. But I bet ADP is more thinking about them corporate lunch-ins to present Aloisi at to all his business pals rather than anything football, “look who we signed! that guy who scored that very famous penalty! please donate and sponsor my club!”

Boys turned up to play tonight.
Good to see their reaction from dishing up absolute rubbish recently.
What can you say about Rojas, consistently delivers, thought Nabbout was good but still far too wasteful.
The kids get better the more they play together.
Was surprised by Perth's effort, considering they have finals to play for.
You know they folded when even Kamsoba scores :)

I have a very nasty feeling about that as well. I'm just hoping that the club are smart enough to realise how negative the reaction would be from fans if they were to appoint Aloisi, membership numbers would plummet.

Postecoglou's assistant the front runner for Melbourne Victory job
Dominic Bossi

Yokohama F Marinos assistant coach Arthur Papas has emerged as the frontrunner for the vacant Melbourne Victory job, with the A-League club in final negotiations with Ange Postecoglou's trusted lieutenant.

After failing in bids to land Greek coach Traianos Dellas and Wellington Phoenix mentor Ufuk Talay, sources close to Victory have indicated Papas is now the firm favourite to take charge of the club.

The 40-year-old Australian is one of the final three candidates for the job, with interim coach Grant Brebner and former Brisbane Roar mentor John Aloisi considered outside chances. Sources suggested the Victory board is set to make a decision over the weekend.
The Victory position will be Papas' first as a head coach in the A-League after years working in the NPL, India, Saudi Arabia and Japan. He was a key member of Postecoglou's coaching staff alongside compatriot Peter Cklamovski as Yokohama won the J-League title last year.
The highly-rated Papas first rose to attention in Australia after guiding Victorian NPL side Green Gully to the FFA Cup quarter-finals in 2016, overseeing a shock win over A-League big guns Central Coast Mariners in the round of 16.
He then worked as an assistant coach to Eelco Schattorie at Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, before following Schattorie to Indian Super League club North East United. Papas spent one season there before joining Yokohama in January 2019.

Current interim coach Brebner announced in June he would not seek the top job but is set to speak with the Victory board about his future. Socceroo great Aloisi has also been in lengthy negotiations with Victory over a possible return to coaching after a two-year absence.

Sounds promising that the club are keen on Papas, Hopefully an announcement will be made soon.
