Reid’s not worth much but to a dud side who need a key forward he could be. Both he and Cunningham wouldn’t get us anyone of note, but they could get us players we could turn into stars. It’s what we used to do best.

I also don’t see how Cunningham is needed badly. I like him and respect that he fully revived a career that was looking kinda suspect, but he is not that important, he doesn’t have enough of an impact whether he’s in or out of the team.

Put Florent (Mr 1 tackle in last 3 entire games of football) at the top of your list if you want to find a guy that's underperforming but might have some trade currency. Reid's had a FAR better year than Ollie - and would be a having an even better one if he wasn't currently running between Ruck and Defense for 15% of his game time. Horse probably has him doing the medical work at half time, and the marketing mon-fri too.
Cunningham's work for us is better than any trade value he might have I think.
Agree JPK should be moved to GC if they'd offer him a nice two year big money deal. He suits their need to a tee. We'd want a 1st round draft pick in return though - no give away. The AFL should give us one for JPK instead of giving them yet a bloody nother priority pick.

To me that screams out that the kid is playing with an injury. A classic stat is a lack of tackles.

Ridiculous - look at the numbers he puts up. Club captain. They want a club captain inside bull (that's exactly what they need to save the entire project which is in real danger of falling over) they pay for it or don't have it.
I'd rather keep him than take an insulting offer. He can go out our champ no problem at all.
The AFL need to tell them no more extra picks. They've had an unprecendented number of gifted picks.

Just unsure who will want to go to GC that is worth pick 1.

I’d actually give them 4-6 priority picks spread over 2-3 drafts. All must be traded or are deemed void. Also would give them a set amount (say $1million in total) above the cap to entice mature age players

Florent isn’t in the side to tackle- he’s not soft anyway. His main role is to add class on the outside

The beauty of that scenario is the pick really doesnt have the value of first pick for gc. Its not like theyre choosing between drafting a walsh or not because they cant use the pick themselves.

You are assuming that the AFL actually want the Suns to succeed as a fully-functioning football club, as opposed to a training and development facility for the other clubs' future recruits.

Possibly not, but there is a chance it goes for a player perhaps not worthy of the number one (in effect) pick (and there a trade and team not worthy as a recipient).

Suns have no value in keeping it and therefore would trade for the best available player. Given these type of negotiations start much earlier with player managers, a late call to give them such currency might place them in a poor position to get a player equal to the value of the selection.

The Salary cap squeeze taken up largely by Buddy's contract and Tippett will be reduced somewhat at end of 2018 when Kurt's salary is off the books for good.

Will the next trade steal by the Swans come from any of these players. I'm not aware of many of them that are out of contract and worth pursuing. Do any names stand out as trade possibilities? Wouldn't mind Foggarty however he is contracted to 2021.
