The four northern clubs have put forward proposals to set things back to right (post COLA). As you say the AFL Commission went too far but we’ll soon see if they are bright enough to realise that; but I can easily imagine any success from Brisbane will be used to cry “see they don’t need extra help”.

As far as the bogger clubs using their “strong support in official and unofficial sponsors”, we have board members connected to some reasonably big corporate entities; hopefully that and other minor, local sponsors provides networks which can assist players in ways similar to the southerners.
Which reminds me, do any of the players still drive a skoda??

With the article saying that Ryder is certain to move back to Melbourne it sounds like the club has confirmed has confirmed it will pick up Jacobs and as a free agent he can move for nothing but the club could look to do a token trade in order to avoid any free agency comp issues if either Coniglio or Tomlinson leave
I still think the club will go after Ceglar as well with Flynn out for the season that would mean 2 developed rucks and Briggs to play NEAFL for most of the season and then Keefe to rotate or he can play ruck in the NEAFL, interesting that TOJ was in a few ruck contests on the weekend and not Tomlinson so maybe he will bulk up a bit in the off season along with HH to allow the ruck some time on the bench

Agreed a ruck is needed but who? I doubt the options we look at will take much cap space. And I imagine JC and Whitfield’s contracts were already calculated in the budget.

I'm all for Ceglar, everything seems to line up.
