He had 8 disposals last week and got dropped by one of the worst teams in AFL history.

He's behind JSOS, Gibbons and Cuningham.
Players don’t lose talent. I think people have forgotten just how good he was as a junior, and he’s shown it at Afl level.

He’s an ‘icing on the cake’ type player playing in a team that has barely put the ingredients in the bowl let alone baked it yet. It’s a ridiculous way to judge him. How many goals do you reckon Cameron would have kicked today if he was paying for gc?

There’s a reason Blight said he was the best junior he’s ever seen.

I would love to see him in a Lachie Whitfield hbf type role. Lovely kick, excellent defensive pressure, good decision making and good run and carry. Would suit him, and us perfectly, and I have a suspicion that’s what we’re targeting him for.

Absolutely. And that won't have been different under Teague.

Whether you liked him or not, think some people are really reaching to find fault with Bolton.

Deserves a lot of credit for the environment which has seen no players of note want out despite poor on-field results.
I’m not reaching at all. We have seen JSOS, Casboult, and Kennedy play career best football under Teague. I’m positive we would have seen Pickett excel as well.

Martin more likely to end at Nth Melbourne esp after signing Cunningham for three .. if no cognilio we probably hunt hill.. if no papley we go for Richmond excess small forward.. think Teague if coach would work with two talks McKay curnow two mediums silvagni mcgovern two smalls.. as preferred starting line up..

not if he owns a tv............

The game style may have suited him better, but it is a huge reach to suggest he would have been healthier and more motivated under a new head coach.

Some players are excelling under Teague, but an argument can be made for others having regressed slightly too. No different to any other coaching change.

Just out of interest, who has regressed..?

Fisher and Dow are two who come to mind straight away.

They were not having great seasons by any stretch, but both have struggled under Teague.

Dow probably was a major factor in costing us a few wins with critical misses, was not playing great this season.

Fisher is out of sorts, yes, but has been pretty poor most of the year.

Both probably running out of puff too.

With each coaching change, some players excel, others struggle. As a whole this side is on the rise

I don’t think Dow is playing any worse. Imo he was probably actually playing as poorly earlier in the season but we ignore to some extent what his opponents were doing compared to him. 14 touches playing near full time midfield when you are getting zero attention is probably as poor as it gets for an AFL player.
He just isn’t ready yet as he wasn’t last season either.

Fisher was playing quite well early in the year, but with no midfield minutes, his output has diminished.
Dow even though struggling somewhat (and this was evident even through the JLC) was averaging near the 20 possessions a game mark, but the change in scenery to the forward line has done him no favours at all.

For every action, there's a reaction and as good it has been for the CFC to have brought ECurnow and Murphy back into the midfield, others have suffered, at least in the short term.
I see both making it ands making it well, but List Management has to be careful in the types it brings in as for what may be seen to be the better outcome in one area, can diminish output in another and especially so when players are wanted in the side for their talent, but then need to be 'retrained' into new roles.

That's why I don't care for an Ellis, nor a Tomlinson as I only see them displacing another with little added total value.
Get the players you need ala Newman, albeit his position became available thanks to Docherty going down and the total value should mostly be higher.

AFLX performance from Fish but my memory could be diminishing from the start of the year. Expected more from him this year - dinky kicks, inaccuracy, getting caught being more prominent vs his crafty highlights (still some ala centre clearance vs WBD) and extra game impact.

Agreed re: Ellis’s etc but if we get our A-grade targets, there’ll be players displaced, going against the grain of our drafting / list management - e.g. likes of Dow, Fisher outside the best XXII off my team board (also a good thing for depth but players like these guys should be earmarked for positions in the selected A-team).

Weird comments about Fisher from some of you. His form not regressed due to different coach. In fact when I went to SCG v Swans he was one of reasons we moved the ball so well between the arcs. Then he got sick a few weeks later and not surprisingly was not at his best last week.
He pretty much playing how most 20 year olds do at this point in their career. Sometimes people here look or imagine issues that not even real issues.

Enjoy our youngsters learning to play together and do not expect them all to play well together so early in their careers. Very happy with Zac and how he developing and looking forward to seeing his exciting talent out there today just as I will with Samo, Jack, Harry, Walshy and Setters.

Spot on.

It seems Cripps can play a couple of bad games which he did mid season and it’s easily forgiven.

But Fish or SPS or some of these young players who have been well above expectations in their first couple of seasons - if they have a couple of bad ones, some supporters start talking about dropping or trading them.

Players have ups and downs in their career, it’s all part of the learning. Just let them work through it and focus on their positives I think. The club will know if they need a break in the two’s.
