B Hill? You can never have enough mids on your list, especially top end...
We need another elite mid, the rest we can deal with...

B Hill?
He could definitely offer the forward line better flexibility, he knows the forwards craft being that's where it all started for him, having a great footy IQ he could be a terrific asset for everyone down there during a game with his direction and leadership. Who we are able to trade in might possibly have more of a say in whether he gets the chance too...If he gets another year he has to play forward IMO.
Defence needs to start settling for the future and playing together and as a group. Absolutely vital for our future
Agree but not having any best 22 small defenders coming through probably will have him in the mix certain weeks for a suitable matchup he offers...If he gets another year he has to play forward IMO.

I think the part I bolded should be about the teamGreat question:
I would say the core group should be in the 23-27 age range, the rest of the numbers should be based on talent/performance for spots, no matter the age of that player. Then continue to embrace the draft (best available) and creative trading (needs/bang for your buck, aka Newman)
Look at his physique then. Anyone think he isn't overweight at the moment?
perhaps we can't expect all players to have the same shape? I looked at his brother on the weekend and commented that he didn't just look footballer out of shape, he seemed to actually be carrying a pot belly - yet he plays ok - the same for the england fast bowler, blunt - tummy rolls galore (probably babies too) and she sends them down as quick as anyone for extended periods - we might want our players to be hardened, ab busting soldiers but is that always going to happen? mind you, there will be people who say we may never know his true potential if he doesn't shed those kilos.........You've got a real vendetta against Mitch.

do you have a pic, soap - also, what are you wearing right now?True but my point is look at what he was like when he was fit. We have something to compare with. There is a big difference IMO
I just hope now he turns it around
Just speaking with someone who floated the notion of Deluca playing back.
It's way too early but the idea somehow just fits. What do people think?
Deluca has that dash, power out of congestion, has a reasonable kick on him, isn't too bad in tight. Is there something there?

Worth an opportunity but I would prefer to see it in the reserves, will come down to how good he is at hitting up risky kicks I feel.
Lots of criteria need to be ticked off for playing back, especially with the smaller players who play back, because it's so much about team defence now. Players need to be able to and willing to drop in front of the tall forwards at times and cop a hit as well as be able to use their speed and skills. He's a strong body so who knows.
One role I see Deluca playing down the track is the Ed Curnow role when he gets his running up to AFL standard. Think he could be good in that one on one role with his physicality.
Would be a good experiment to see in the VFL sometime though.
True I could've been anything if the fridge wasn't always in the way!perhaps we can't expect all players to have the same shape? There is but mid/forward for mine.Just speaking with someone who floated the notion of Deluca playing back.

Casboult may leave and who would blame him?
Really? Why? he is surely one of our most flexible talls we have. Capable of going back, forward and into the ruck
Doc and Willo I'm Hoping like hell they can get back and play good footy again, their not the types that would be good matchups for small forwards. Schumaker imo is a long way off it and in the same camp as Doc and Willo , Cottrell fair way off as well, Ellis is more of a wingman and Lester wouldn't be worth chasing imo not good enough for a spot on our list, Cunningham would be a really good fit for our smaller defender position...We have Docherty Williamson Schumacher Newman & SPS. I'd like to see Polson have a go back there especially as he is contracted. Plowman has done well on smaller players. Cottrell is starting to look okay as well.
We may also pick up a Cunningham, Ellis or Lester as a running defender as well.

We've complied a lot of quality over the past 4 years and may be ready to give those players more say in matters than for us simply to pile on 4 to 5 players of that magical 22-26 age profile.
Last 4 years - Weitering, Mckay, CCurnow, Cuningham, SPS, Fisher, Dow, O'Brien, Walsh & Stocker.
And then players taken from those drafts and now playing for us - Kennedy & Setterfield.
That makes for 11 1st rounders taken in 4 years (Fisher is the outlier in that group) and 11 players that one can argue, form our starting 22 squad.
11 1st rounders in 4 years. No other team would come close to this and we'd need to go back to the formative GWS & GC, just to get close.
You've got a real vendetta against Mitch.
