You do realise he did his knee because someone fell across it. Nothing to do with his size or gangly build or running style.
And sundays injury was because he got tunnelled. Exactly the same sort of thing that happened to Lonie. Just an accident not anything else.
He’s not Alex Johnson or Dan Menzel who’s bodies just can’t cope with lateral movement

Give it 3-4 seasons mate. And if he’s still injury prone then have a meltdown

What happened to him on the weekend will occur every week in the AFL with bigger and faster bodies crashing into him. It wasnt a melt down just a risk assessment. With the McCartin recruiting disaster, I question the club taking such a huge risk again?

Is this true?

All I’ve read is he’ll be on 20k a year while working part time which includes with the boss on a $2billion development.
I guess once your foots in the door, investing your own money is no longer a matter for the AFL to look over but what do I know?

If the 10% ownership was true, the AFL would have included that in their salary cap it’s as simple as that.

That injury would have happened to anyone involved in the same contest. It was totally unrelated to his knee surgery.

It has to said regarding Winx!

Have we taken the right brother or even the right path selecting him over a number of hugely talented midfielders?

Ben to me always looked much stronger through the core and less leggy in his movement and running actions. I understand Max was flying until his injury but it is exactly that which worries me. Could we afford the risk after taking Paddy @ 1 who had failed and then taking another huge risk @ 4 in the draft on a severely injured gangly kid?

It really worries me that with his body he is going to be another huge bust?
Isn't Binx coming to us anyway?

risk and reward and the reward could be a flag next year - we could of gone down the save bet road with another Hunter Clark and a Coffield but we took the risk and just the couple games he has played has shown he is going to be a ripper.

and now with a elite mid we will be laughing - usually when this happens a couple of the young draft picks grow a leg without expecting it and then we get a few more star freaks

True but his knee was susceptible. His biggest asset is his height, reach & leap he is not quick and doesnt get separation I can see that being the normal spoiling effort of any defender in the AFL. Look what they do to Cox take his legs and body renders him he is uselesss.

If he was going to redo the ACL, you'd think it was a big chance with the way he fell on it on the weekend. I get your point, but I don't see the issue. Just an unfortunate setback.

People might question if we got the right King because Ben has played 1 game (against us) and played well. Naturally people will see that and think we've made the wrong move.

Whats the agenda mate?

Seriously it's a trade thread.
Just my alter GT ego..

Ross stole my job from me remember..

About time they blow the roof off with an offer.

Make it hard to walk away from that much money. That’s our advantage

If the offer is $1.4m a year it is going to be bloody difficult for him to reject it. That sets the lad up for life and it’s hard to see another club coming anywhere near to matching it.

If Tom Morris is correct then the club isn’t mucking around. And that would surely impress Coniglio. We’ve gone hard and early. Fantastic.

Booking a flight to Melbourne a month before the finals next year to eat Hotdogs drink VB and watch the mighty Saints play - top 4 finals at Marvel you little ripper

Off to a big A-League or AFL game, or a major Melbourne event? Melbourne Now writer and footy tragic Dylan Stewart has spent some time drinking and dining his way around Marvel Stadium, and shares his top five restaurants and bars nearby.

1. Woolshed Pub

Walking Distance to Etihad Stadium: About 70 metres

When I first moved to the city, this shed was home to many infamous college parties. Recently it’s transformed into a more refined gastropub, and when you combine its waterfront location with its proximity to Etihad Stadium, it’s hard to beat for a drink and a reasonably-priced meal before the first bounce.

2. Platform 28

Walking Distance to Etihad Stadium: 150 metres

A favourite if I’m meeting friends before a Friday night game, Platform 28 is also perfectly positioned for a spot of lunch before a Saturday afternoon match at Etihad. With two outdoor terraces that are protected from the elements, you can stay warm before heading up a flight of stairs to the big game.

3. Purple Peanuts Japanese Cafe

Walking Distance to Etihad Stadium: 600 metres

When you’re gearing up for an afternoon or evening match or event at Etihad, a fulfilling Japanese meal at Purple Peanuts is hard to beat. The sushi is top-notch and generous meals like the tsuke don (marinated salmon sashimi served with vinegared rice salad) start at around $10, although my personal favourite is the kakuni don (braised pork belly). It can get busy with a work lunch crowd during the week, but it’s a hidden gem right near Southern Cross Station. Closed Sundays, but open until 8:30pm so it’s also perfect for a post-match feed before you jump on a V/Line train or coach home.

4. Henry & The Fox

Walking Distance to Etihad Stadium: 900 metres

The first time I came here for lunch, my friend entered a competition and won a snowboard. Luckily for him, he’s a Melbourne supporter so he doesn’t mind if he’s up at the snow during the footy season. If you’re in town for a match, or are just looking for a tasty meal during your time in Melbourne, Henry & The Fox do a great weekend brunch menu (‘til 3pm), and they’re open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights too. It’s a good location; in the heart of the city and an easy walk to Etihad.

5. Munich Brauhaus

Walking Distance to Etihad Stadium: 1.2 kilometres

Who said you can’t watch a game of footy and not enjoy some riverside hospitality at the same time? Nobody, that’s who. Fill up on bratwurst, a stein of amber nectar and some live German music before working some of it off as you cross the Yarra River. This stroll usually takes you through Docklands Park, but this footy season I’m looking forward to taking a detour over the Seafarers Bridge, one of the newest bridges to link the north and south banks of the Yarra.

If Tom Browne is correct it sounds like it could be Shiel MKII. Where we were publicly commenting on a player we were never a chance to get.

Might be a case of generating some hope and optimism and talk. Let's fans know they're genuinely trying to do everything we can to get elite players. Helps the manager screw every cent they can get. But we know we ain't getting them. Playing the game basically.

We rarely are this open on a target we think we can wrap up. Closest was carlisle and that was the offseason.

Heard it was in the works when we got Allan - always expect the unexpected

I'm surprised you didn't know about it before everyone else...
