‘I THINK St.Kilda are out. I don’t THINK he wants to go to St.Kilda’

So he’s guessing. The guy is an absolute knob
I know people don’t like guys but he would have some information even if it’s slight. If they guess all the time they are eventually found out.

We have made it publicly known we have large amounts of money sitting around and want to give it to a A grade midfielder. Wins some games in the back half of the season and it might prompt some players/managers wanting a pay day to come enquire about Moorabbin.

I don't think this offer too Cogs was ever a real possibility, but more of a publicity/diversion tool to hide who we are really after.

Do you have any names

Just in respect to Cogs, even though it was a long shot and still is, just think of the Shiel situation last year.

Essendon were considered dead and buried and if you remember on the actual day it was Hawthorn clear number 1 and Carlton 2nd.

The players agent are the masters of politics. They only release what they want you to hear.

TBH I reckon we dodged a bullet missing out on Shiel, he has been ordinary in the Essendon midfield this year. If King can have an (major) injury free career we are Streets ahead!

Can we fit Max King and Marshall In The same forward line if we pick up a Ryder or Goldstein (doubt either will come as backup). Means we can be patient with Max but I feel next year He will be far to good for Sandy. Bruce would need trading as he would be of more value that way then as a backup.

Probably suits our needs a bit more than Goldstein I think. We'd want to get him dirt cheap though.

I agree he suits our needs more but Goldstein we can get for free. Just costs cash which we clearly have plenty of. And it has to be spent on someone. We can’t use the free cap space anywhere else.
I’d be all for Ryder if it was a cheap trade. Say a pick in the 50s

We should be targeting the following with either trade or draft:

*A grade mid
*A grade forward/mid (I mean forward that hits the scoreboard and goes in the middle and impacts). Think Robbie gray style. Papley or Caleb Serong (from draft). Gives us another with Gresh that can kick goals from the middle.
*Back up and developing ruck. Cut Longer and Pierce.

There is tall and there is tall. I’m a complete no for Marshall playing forward with king. Others feel differently but it’s a no for me

I cant imagine it would cost a lot to get him. He's playing SANFL this week and has only been offered a one year deal. Port have plenty of ruck options. I reckon a token late pick would do it.

Has there been any whispers that Ryder wants out? Didn't he want to get back to Adelaide (as well as getting away from dopaville?)

He was a West Australian. I'm not sure why he wanted to go to Adelaide? May have family there?

There are a few rumours going around. Lycett has taken the number one ruck role and their are a couple of good young rucks on their list. Only being offered a one year deal so I can not see any reason why he might stay.

Ryder is not that effective forward and would only have 1 or 2 years left at most, so we wouldnt want to be giving up much if anything. One of Pierce or Longer depending on contracts will be offloaded. So will give us a list spot to look at a state league ruckman or a kid? Any ideas?

Yeah that's right.. I think it was extended family in Adelaide that took him here.

Ryder is good a forward as any other ruckman going around.

Didn't see a list management thread, but:

Out of contract at the end of the year (as of 21 June 2019):

2. Jake Carlisle
5. Shane Savage
7. Luke Dunstan
16. Jack Newnes (RFA)
18. Billy Longer
20. David Armitage (UFA)
22. Nathan J. Brown
31. Brandon White
37. Bailey Rice
39. Darragh Joyce
42. Lewis Pierce
43. Jonathon Marsh
46. Doulton Langlands
47. Sam Rowe
48. Jack Mayo

To keep Marsh and Mayo, we would need to delist at least five (as well as letting Rowe walk).

Likely to go: Armitage, Rice, Longer.
As risk: Pierce, Joyce, Langlands, White, Brown.
Probably going to be re-signed: Carlisle, Savage, Dunstan, Newnes, Marsh, Mayo.

Herald-Sun reporting today club has an offer in front of Dunstan.

He's definitely more effective than Goldstein forward which is why I'd rather him if we are going after them. If we are to get another ruck I'd at least like to see Marshll play 50% or more in the ruck.

Goldstein is a FA, although I can't see how Port ask for much for Ryder at his age when he's just been dropped.

Not sure about state league ruckmen going around, but my opinion is if we are to get another ruck, they need to be able make an impact up forward.

If King is to come in than the ruckman would be likely taking Bruce's spot. Ryder has similar stats to Bruce this year, 1 goal a game, but still averaging 22 hit outs.

I reckon Brown, Roberton, Armitage & McCartin retire.

One of or both Pierce/Longer delisted.
Rice delisted.
Joyce speculative delisting?
Marsh, Wilkie & Langlands moved onto the senior list and Mayo offered a rookie list position.

Acres traded!

Im a Marshall in the middle guy too , i would rather him play ruck and develop his game than bring in a Ryder Or Goldy and have him shoved forward . Unless people are convinced 100% , no more than 100% that we are good things to win a flag in the next 3 years we will have gained nothing , with either Ryder or Goldy now retired Marshall has to go back to being full time ruck , Its easy to say bring Goldy in with Stuv back , Hanners fit ect and we are a big chance but we really dont know what level Hanners is going to be able to get back too and Stuv is a day to day situation.
I know some just want the quick fix to get us back into the finals but IMO we need to be patient and smarter and dont go down that track with top up players or ones that are not going to be around in 3 -4 years time
So IMO
Marshall stays No 1 ruck
Delist both Longer and Lewis , both worth nothing
Bring in a Back up ruck , not a baby , say mid 20's
Draft a young project ruck kid with a late pick as Sam should be ready to play around 2030 if he makes it
All other picks Mids

Word is that Paddy is unhappy playing forward, and prefers to be a ruck, one reason he might want to leave. So not sure if the 50:50 thing is suitable. It might be.

strong indigenous leadership and community at port.

Ryder is good a forward as any other ruckman going around.

ideally you bring him in on a shortish deal, say 2 years, which is one more than port are offering. then transition him into a role off-field, be it coaching or welfare.
