Probably the order in which I’d give them up; Taylor, Robbo, Walker, Keays, Cutler and Bundy.

Wouldn’t be too disappointed if we ended up losing Taylor, Robbo and Walker. Walker is stuck behind Andrews who’s going nowhere and the other 2 have big deficiencies in their game which don’t seem to be going anywhere fast.

Bundy is an AFL standard small forward as proved this year so at a minimum he’s outstanding depth. Keays showed this year that perhaps his offensive side of his game might be a bit more promising. And Cutler has big upside as a wing or half back.
I'm of the glass half full tribe - how many years have we got to the end of the season and just delisted players never to be heard of again in AFL circles. I'm thinking, this year we could get to the end and instead of delisting some we at least get a low draft pick for all we HAVE to get rid of. It's always sad to see some go and we all debate if they still have potential or not but we have to let some out thats just the way it is. If we get something for them all we get a few kids in to have a look at and maybe find another gem.

You only have to observe the players from opposing teams chatting after the siren to appreciate that many have friends across the AFL, not just their own teammates.

If Collingwood has increased their offer to Jamie Elliot. There is nothing stopping us from upping our offer...

I'd up our offer to 4 years. He'd be playing as a 31 year old for most of the last year of that contract. It's not exactly a buddy situation (paying him big money until he is like 36).

Worth the risk IMO. Its not vital we get him, but we do need to find that extra threat up forward.

Been thinking four years myself. I’d do that, we’re in the window. Medical team gets him durable plays a big role in a premiership for us. Offer four years. Worst case is Collingwood has to do the same.

We would have gone 4 under the previous administration - this one is pretty conservative and shrewd, we've made our assessment and offered 3. Don't see us going higher to be honest.

Elliott is not the player I’d die in the ditch over. If 3 years doesn’t do the job, then I’d support the club not upping their offer.

Fundamentally, I have no issue with players deciding to stay with their original club. If a better contract than what his current club tables doesn’t secure him, then so be it.

Yup, I love Fages but if we are going to deify him to the point where we act like meeting with him and not signing is some sort of sacreligious insult, then we are becoming a self parody.

Yes. Make a good offer. Let the player meet the coach and get a general feel for the place. If he wants to come, he will. If not, move on. No hard feelings.

Maybe he had the medical on the weekend and ‘failed’ and we lowered or withdrew our offer?

Our medical/fitness group appear to be the best in the business but there are limits to the miracles they perform.

Yer I would think everyone one on our board would feel much the same, if Elliott becomes a Lion great, if not no problem we are still well and truly in a very good place for 2020 and beyond.

Que sera.

With so many academy, NGA, f/s and a few dozen Gold Coast compo picks clogging up the draft these days, picks in the second round are worth less than ever. Hopefully we identify this and try to put a couple of picks together and move up the order. We only need 2 draftees and we should aim to get the first of those as high as possible. It also makes it hard to accept anything less than pick 25 for Lewis Taylor - that's likely to be pushed out to at least 30.
