I'd say at this stage C. Lyons, Allison and Bastinac are outright delistings.

Cutler, Taylor and Robertson will all attract interest elsewhere. I think Keays could be a de-list to re-rookie type of scenario, depending if there's interest elsewhere. I think it's a coin toss between Taylor and Keays to stay on the list depending on how trade period goes.

OUT: C. Lyons, Bastinac, Allison (Delist), Taylor (Trade), Cutler (Trade)
Everyone else: Keep
Allison is contracted for 2020.

So Bastinac and Alison are on the Rookie list them going doesn't give us any spot on the main. I'm guessing Oscar get onto the main list this year so Corey Lyons in your scenario makes that spot OR they do the the Archie Smith off and rookied or Keays as you suggest. So to get the 3 draft picks we have to have (I think thats right) we have to get 3 off the main list, 4 if we upgrade Oscar. So C Lyons, Cutler, Taylor, Keays have to be the hot contenders. (little rompers of Nic Robinson GWS). I like your idea of moving some to the Rookie List but not sure we will have the room.

In my basket of; love to have you but this is footy, understand if you can get a trade go for it but we think you have topped out - Keays, Cutler, Bastinac, Taylor, Alison, Corey Lyons, Archie Smith.
This is very odd. Corey Lyons is only 21 and outperforming everyone in the NEAFL team besides Bastinac. But you think he has "topped out"? Most players continue to develop past 21. Allison is 21 too and probably has a fair bit of development still to go also, although I don't think he'll be as good as Corey. I wouldn't be canning either of them just yet, particularly Corey since he's playing as well as we could hope for.

Tony Sheahan alert (think his only claim to fame is the buddy and Tippett to Sydney rumours) but FWIW:

With legend Luke Hodge retiring, im led to believe @brisbanelions is talking to HawthornFC player Grant Birchall about fulfilling a role similar to that of Hodge’s at the Gabba

Would certainly take him it we can get his body right. Very good player and leader. Highly respected at the Hawks.

I love the way Corey goes about it also, but when you've been on the list for 3 years without a senior game nor any major injury complaints, surely the pressure is on. Keays has improved drastically this year in the NEAFL and even showed some signs of growth in his small sample size in the 1's, but for the same reason he seems to be written off by many as well.

It's a bonehead reason though. He's clearly outplayed several players with top level experience, like Cutler, Taylor and Starcevich. I'd even say he's outplayed Mathieson this year at NEAFL level. He has only been kept out of the firsts by our amazing injury run. Younger than Mathieson too. Yet we'd dump him in favour of someone who's had a worse year, simply because they have played at the top level in the past? I'd rather keep the better player since they're more likely to help us win football games.

People have repeatedly spoken here about the need to retain quality depth, and rightly so. But we have a dozen guys who can play outside or on a flank. Who do we have as depth at inside midfield? It's only Mathieson, Corey and a group of raw, untested kids. Dumping the guy who's best of the lot and intending to use rookies for depth is just not an intelligent move in my eyes.

I like Birchall and would welcome him, the Suns need him much more than we do, though.

Good luck convincing him to go to the Suns though.

Out-- Hodge, Bastinac, Lester, Cutler (trade), N Robbo (trade), 1 of Skinner or Hinge delisted. Eagles will go as well if we cant get afl concession to re rookie him as a cat b. Unless anyone wants a trade like keays or taylor i cant see anyone else going.

I think just the 6 changes this year. Draft 3, pick up 3 in the trade period. A half back to replace hodge, not a fan of the birchell idea, but has to be a best 22 quality player for 3yrs plus. Ah Chee looks like a cert, wing/fwd depth could be best 22. And a midfielder with some versatility to play sm fwd, wing or even off halfback.

I dont want to see our defence take a step back with the loss of hodge so its a priority to properly replace him. I dont think we need to focus on a big fwd yet. Our delivery needs to improve first, from half back through wing and midfield. We need to trade this year to improve that. Next year however, if our tall fwds are still underperforming and ballenden, fullarton, wooller have been given a shot but are unconvincing, then have a go for a fwd.

That would be because he saw Grant Birchall in the background in the Hodgey retirement video on the Lions Website.

“I’m led to believe...”

Translated: I’m making sh!t up, based on a semi reasonable guess, cause I saw something that may or may not actually mean anything.

My view on Eagles.

If we want him bad enough, promote him to the senior list.
Can he not be promoted from Cat B to the Cat A rookie list?
