Mentioned earlier, (and it's come from Tom Browne, so take it for what it's worth) but he's reporting this:

HAWKS, EAGLES TO PLAY ON ANZAC DAY
Hawthorn and West Coast will join Collingwood and Essendon in facing off on Anzac Day next year.
Triple M’s Tom Browne is reporting the Hawks and Eagles will contest the game in Tasmania.
It is understood the match will precede the traditional clash between Collingwood and Essendon. The Hawks and Eagles are set to face off at about 1.10pm while the Pies and Bombers will reportedly be playing in a non-traditional timeslot of 4.40pm.

A West Coast Eagles away game starting at 11:10am local time (Perth time) on Anzac Day---- that will go down well

Eagles fans will be fuming … one less MCG game and have to travel to Tassie 😆

When a NZ game was broadcast into Melbourne at 11am there's was Victorian RSL outrage. I wonder if there'll be the same reaction when it's the Eagles in Perth

They’d have grounds to as well...

Eagles games have drawn well in Victoria -

Rd 10 2011 52560 v Collingwood

Rd 2 2014 22230 v Melbourne
Rd 10 2014 53049 v Collingwood
Rd 12 2015 45079 v Richmond
Rd 2 2016 42977 v Hawthorn
Rd 17 2016 26389 v Carlton

Rd 15 2019 31925 v Hawthorn
Rd 22 2019 57415 v Richmond

MCG average for a decade is 41,834

On merit West Coast deserve MCG away games.

The 4 Haw / Eagles games have drawn 38,500 give or take so in the interest of fairness that game really should be in Melbourne (with a Saints / Dogs / North game shifted to Tasmania instead)

Would probably be a better fit for Tourism Tasmania too

If they're not playing the Hawks at the MCG they will probably play Carlton there (or Essendon seeing as we hosted Sydney and Brisbane at the G this year)

JOE DANIHER won't have to wait long to play at the SCG in 2020, with the AFL scheduling an early Sydney-Essendon showdown under Friday night lights.

AFL.com.au understands the Bombers will travel north to tackle the Swans in round two on Friday, March 27.

I’m so tired of playing Sydney in Sydney every year.

Fat chance unfortunately. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be.
Happy to play Geelong down there but it doesn't belong on Easter Monday then. For these public holiday games it should allow for the biggest crowd possible.

North Good Friday / St Kilda Maddie's Match
2017: 42,814 / 47,514
2018: 33,966 / 36,269
2019: 48,278 / 40,962
TOTAL: 125,058 / 124,745
AVERAGE: 41,686 / 41,581
While I can't be certain, I think they are assuming more people would come to our Maddie's match game next year than the Good Friday game. Not sure what he would be basing that upon though.

North and the Bulldogs should be given an extended run at Good Friday to try and build it into an event. This would then only leave St Kilda among Vic clubs without a permanent marquee fixture.

Rich/Carl - opener
Rich/Ess - Dreamtime
Rich/Melb - ANZAC Eve
Coll/Ess - ANZAC Day
Coll/Melb - QB
Gee/Haw - Easter Monday
Nth/WB - Good Friday
They got 2
Maddies match
Pride match
Maybe we should start giving hawthorn/north/Bulldogs a 2nd match?
You might wanna reread my posts.

I thought we'd keep it, I hoped we wouldn't.
Didn’t realise you played them this year
I remembered the St Kilda crowd was trash and that we had west coast vs port at night
But I thought both were this’ll year, not just 1 with you guys playing.

Honestly need the league to just wipe all these protected rivalry games.

Hawthorn to play West Coast as an Anzac Day curtain raiser in Tasmania reportedly. At least it's them and not us this year it seems.

Who cares

If "SA/WA derbies will sell out any round" is trotted out we should off Carlton from the first match every year.

Why not? More Geelong members go to Geelong games than MCG ones

Well you’ll be disappointed son, it’ll be at the G. Cue the constant complaining the emanates from Geelong

I won't be disappointed. It's the status quo. It's not complaining either, otherwise you're saying that Jeff Kennett asking for less Sunday 3.20pm games is complaining.

The AFL runs it's own race and the 18 clubs (especially the 10 VIC clubs) are just pawns to make money. The clubs can ask all they like, but unless you're Collingwood you won't get much love in return.

Sorry but neither of those mentioned are a "marquee match" - because there's no guaranteed slot for it nor is it locked in every year. They are just gimmick matches. The Pride game is alternating between St Kilda and Sydney hosting it so that doesn't even count.

Unlike each of these:

Rich/Carl - opener -
Rich/Ess - Dreamtime
Rich/Melb - ANZAC Eve
Coll/Ess - ANZAC Day
Coll/Melb - QB
Gee/Haw - Easter Monday
Nth/WB - Good Friday
These are on set dates/times. The only thing we have a set time for atm is the China game and that's hardly Marquee - it's not even on FTA!

Maddie's match COULD be a marquee match if it was moved to Saturday night, GUARANTEED free to air like the Dreamtime game. That's what I've been arguing.
