With no footy in Victoria this year, I imagine clubs' draft boards are going to vary wildly from about pick 10 onwards. It would be fascinating to see a comparison. Could mean that some clubs will get what they consider absolute bargains from late 1st round onwards.

Someone better tell Glenn Luff he's been replaced.

I know it's a team effort to make decisions like any organisation but who ultimately has the final say if say the group were split on say McDonald or Hollands? Luff or Rawlings?

I disagree.

Mcdonald is the best available player based on 2020 performance. Thilthorpe's number aren't in the same conversation from a 2020 perspective.

Bypassing the best 2020 player on exposed form that is a lock to go 2-3, for a bloke that could go anywhere from 2-10, purely because he is from SA is bigger risk IMO.

No way Thilthorpe gets past pick 5.

With Adelaides clear issue with player retention i think they will go with the local operator.

Super spongy floor at the indoor training bit too. I can't think of a single red flag or reason I'd be unhappy with my young fella getting drafted there.

1. McDonald has said he wants to be a 1 club player and is happy to be drafted to any state, on multiple occasions.

2. If Finnigan & Luff opted for local over best available (that may be McDonald, may even be Hollands) I would be very disappointed. Back your system to retain players, don't play risk averse.

There is just something about this kid.

I'm not sure how anyone can split him, Perkins and Hollands. Especially when they haven't played for 12 months. If Ford goes beyond pick 20 he is going to be incredible value.
I like his focus.
Hopefully the footy doesn't hit him in the head.
I wonder if he was born in late April or early May?
It's a shame he doesn't live on the opposite side of town.

I was listening to a podcast that said Adelaide won't bid on JUH, as it would take away the shine from their first draftee.

Number 1 draftee is a great for marketing and they wouldn't want him to feel like he was forever second place.

It made sense to me, but also means it could be up to us to keep doggies honest. How do ppl feel about bidding on JUH and pushing our guy to third?

Even Matthew Nicks said this morning that they will be sticking to their 'talent order' when going to the Draft next week.

It's hard to see Thilthorpe at Pick 1 (or 2 after the JUH bid) based on best available.

i think there's a fair few people that want Thilthorpe to be the Crows 1st choice, as it opens up some possibilities to other teams in terms of trades/selections.

I also don't think Thilthorpe will get past Hawks/GC but even Draft Central have him going in the 1-10 range..

Nicks said they were still awaiting some medical info to come through for a few players, so his OP issues could be more serious than first though, who knows...

Adelaide just don't do "take the safe homegrown player".

Which is really my point. No professional recruiting team are going to move a player from 3rd choice to 1st because of where they are born.

If Thilthorpe is taken at pick 1 it should be because they rate him as the best kid available, which I personally would find surprising.

I reckon they take McDonald but you'd be mad not to consider the go home factor.

West Coast and Freo will be making contact as soon as the ink on his first contract is dry - both are going to be in the market for a key forward from as early as 2022. He can say he wants to be a one club player now but wait until that first big contract is on the table from those clubs.

Twomey just said that Phillips, Laurie and Cox were the most impressive at today's Vic training day.
Really Cal? He was taking it easy for a lot of the session even running away from the bump bag just to be cheeky. I thought a lot of the talls took the session the most seriously.

The great thing about this draft it has been a while since the no1 pick has not been virtually known by everyone well before now. I find it really good not knowing in advance.
