He will be bidded on at 1.

I agree. Pick one has prestige but it also comes with baggage. In this instance you're a 1% chance of still getting the best key prospect in the draft. Worst case they pass and the wooden spooner slips pick 2 a 30k bonus in the first contract.

On another matter.
Does anybody know anything about Eddie Ford?
His highlight reel looks amazing. Are we any chance of getting him.

I love everything about this kid I've seen so far (which admittedly is only what I've seen on here). Rated around our third pick from the looks of things so hopefully doesn't bolt.

Looks like a bolter to me. May have to pull the trigger with the dees pick if we want him.

Feels that way too.

The ideal would be grabbing an extra pick mid teens.

You need to provide a better rebuttal than this.

Souup's write up rings true to the naked eye.

He/she asked me a question and I answered it, what more do you want? I'm not going to have pissy arguments with posters, who get their back up. This is about the club, not me or any poster.

Reason your argument, or switch back to the other accounts.

Surprising. Looking purely at his highlights you’d think he was top 5. Love how quickly he makes discussions and acts. Seems to be no lag time between hand and head. Looks as though he would rarely get caught.

At the moment he's rated outside of the top 20 but there's always one that comes from the clouds (iirc guys like Sidebottom, Taranto, Pickett, Brayshaw).

Ford seems like he may be that player this year, if we get Phillips or similar at 2 I hope he's still in the argument at our second.

He’s got some serious campaigner in him too.....a lot to like. If we went Phillips I’d be ken on this bloke with our GoDees pick for sure
Edit..... jus5 saw your post above now The Filth Wizard .....so I clearly agree with you.

thank you gentlemen.

Serious question:

Where does he play with Thomas, Zurhaar and Taylor all fit?

This is discounting Jack Ziebell, Taylor Garner, Bailey Scott and Will Walker also.

I like Ford, but we are seriously bonkers if we use the Melbourne pick on him unless the intention is of turning him into a midfielder.

Ford is essentially the 2020 version of 2018 Curtis Taylor.

We have about 8 medium forwards that can't play full time midfield at the moment.

He looks like he could be a big bodied midfielder to me.....it’s also where he sees himself playing going by the video requests he’s made re Fyfe etc.

If that is the club's intention, I will back Luff and Brady in.

It's a huge call though with a top 10 pick in a draft and a year when the kid has never kicked a football through the midfield and we have some of the most highly rated u/22 medium forwards in the league already.

You could argue the same case with Hollands and his ACL pours further fuel on that fire, but he is honestly a few levels above Ford when it comes to his skillset and game breaking ability.

Was just thinking it will be interesting how the both test at the combine, possibly not Hollands due to the ACL, in the endurance test etc.

see him as a pure mid.
Having said that I really only basing all this on some video footage.

He's never played that role at NAB league level.

He's pretty much been exclusively a forward.

Ford’s played plenty of midfield footy. Just happens that he was played forward by the Jets last year... which by the way is a pretty tough gig. His footage screams midfielder to me.

Back
Keanu Haddow (East Fremantle): The Sharks colts captain has been so reliable down back. The Fremantle Next Generation Academy talent gets in the right spots and has got a great set of hands.

Kane Bevan (West Perth): The bottom-aged colt was outstanding in defence, getting the jobs on the competition’s best forwards each week and passing with flying colours.

Lachlan Henderson (Subiaco): The general of Subiaco’s defence. Henderson was on the cusp of a league berth mid-season and will become a fine WAFL player if he doesn’t get drafted.

Half-back
Jack Avery (Claremont): AFL recruiters are taking notice of Avery’s stellar 2020 campaign. Avery is a big reason behind Claremont becoming the stingiest defence in the competition. He intercepts well, finds so much of the footy and is clean by foot out of the backline.

Heath Chapman (West Perth/captain): You can see why Chapman is rated among the State’s best key-position draft prospects. Colts coach Ryan Lasscock has used Chapman as a third tall which has freed him up to rebound off half-back. He earned a league berth in round eight and did some good things.

Brandon Walker (East Fremantle): A move from the midfield to half-back early in the season proved to be just to catalyst for Walker’s form spike. The smooth-moving Dockers NGA talent is a star in the making.

Centre
Jed Hagan (East Fremantle): How is this kid only 15? The lively winger from Geraldton is going to go very high in the 2022 AFL draft if his stunning upward trajectory continues.

Lachlan Vanirsen (Subiaco): A prolific ball winner who is so consistent in the Subi engine room, amassing 20-plus disposals in seven of his eight appearances. Can also hit the scoreboard.

Brady Alvaro (West Perth): Rated as one of the Falcons’ big improvers by coach Ryan Lasscock, the hard-running wingman has impressed on the outside.

Half-forward
Logan Guelfi (Claremont): The younger brother of Essendon’s Matt Guelfi is making a name for himself across half-forward for the Tigers. He’s got a real X-factor about him and has improved with every game.

Jacob van Rooyen (Claremont): When your coach likens you to Wayne Carey, you must be doing something right. The bottom-ager is an explosive forward who can tear games apart.

Sandon Page (Subiaco): Page finishing with 22 majors in seven colts appearances after starting the season in the reserves. Kicked multiple goals in every game including two bags of five. The Hale School product is attracting a bit of AFL interest.

Forward
Corey Rundle (West Perth): A proven match-winner who is capable is kicking big bags, Rundle booted a competition-high 23 goals for the home-and-away season. Usually a reliable set shot.

Harry Quartermaine (Perth): The Bullcreek-Leeming product, out of East Fremantle’s zone, has been a real find for the Demons up forward.

Darcy Dixon (West Perth): A lively small forward with plenty of talent. Not only kicks goals and creates, but also gets his teammates into the game.

Followers
Michael Mallard (West Perth): Mallard is the premier ruckman in the competition, averaging 30 hit-outs and 17 possessions to be a regular among the Falcons’ best.

Jack Carroll (East Fremantle): The Geraldton product produced two best-afield performances in as many weeks as East Fremantle caused a couple of massive upsets against the previously-undefeated Claremont and West Perth. Likened to Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury, Carroll is a sound decision-maker, moves around the ground so well and has great vision.

Logan Young (Claremont): Young has been such a consistent contributor in the Tigers’ engine room, leading the competition in disposals (182) and tackles (61).

Interchange
Jaiden Hunter (Perth): The athletic big man was forced to play out of position in the ruck due to Perth’s depleted big man stocks, but more than held his own. Has got a huge tank and elite follow-up work around the ground.

Josh Hubbard (East Perth): Hubbard was the Royals’ best and most consistent player, stepping up in the absence of injured skipper Adam Boules in the midfield during the middle of the season.

Zane Trew (Swan Districts): The big-bodied midfielder was at his dominant best in the final month of the season after overcoming a nasty head knock, averaging more than 28 touches and eight tackles. One of WA’s best midfield draft prospects.

Jaxon Bellchambers (South Fremantle):Bellchambers put together a fantastic season in the Bulldogs’ midfield. Wins plenty of clearances and drives the ball well inside 50.

Finn Gorringe (East Fremantle): The versatile draft prospect switches between half-back and the midfield, having a massive impact in both positions with his ball-winning ability.

Emergencies
Ayden Cartwright (Swan Districts): One of the shining lights in a tough season for Swan Districts, Cartwright has shown he can have an impact in the midfield or at half-forward.

Zak Meloncelli (Perth): Meloncelli finds so much of the footy across half-back and in the midfield.

Bodie Kitchingman (Peel): The Thunder’s most consistent midfielder, Kitchingman finished the season with a massive few weeks, averaging 23 possessions and seven marks.

Kalin Lane (Claremont): An exciting 204cm ruck prospect out of Denmark-Walpole in the Great Southern, Lane has improved out of sight since moving to Perth and is a strong chance of getting drafted.
