Bailey Laurie doesn't look too bad. He looks really well balanced when he kicks, hits his targets well but kicks to advantage really nicely. Also seems to be one of those players that makes time happen around them, he sums up everything around him super quickly and picks the right option. Has some good attack on the man and the ball as well and has a really nice little shimmy side step to give himself a second to execute. Some players have the ability to side step a tackle to buy time, but they then need to use that time to make a decision. He looks like he already knows what he wants to do, and side steps to give himself the space to execute

Probably after a bigger type player, but i think at pick 25 we just take best available, whoever that is.
Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.
His highlights were quite impressive and I like the fact he played well in finals last year.

We are currently the only club with 2 1st rounders next year:D.

FWIW I'm on the Bailey Laurie train for this year.

Interesting that Blake Coleman falls smack bang in the middle of that range on eDPS rankings above, big decision for the club to make if a bid comes before our current 25.

This will be the draft where the AFL turns a small blind eye or changes the rules at the last moment. As you said hopefully we move up and this the last draft where NGA’s can be bid on first round so those club with a couple for this draft(looking at you swans or even Essendon) might be able to do something with. Just trade them for picks in next year IMO. 3 draftees IMO, Coleman, upgrade Fullerton and 1 other.
I don’t see the point of packaging 3 of our late picks together to just move them up for a single later pick that will still be used to match a bid on Coleman.

We could hope for North at 11 to bid on Collingwood’s nga kid, and trade the four picks we take to the draft for Collingwood’s pick 14.

Clubs don’t have to hold back bidding on nga kids this year, as they’re being phased out of the first two rounds over the next two drafts.

I say North have at it.

The north/Collingwood type scenario hadn’t even cross my mind but could that be a reason for our stockpiling of what some are saying are useless picks?

I would be happy with a ruck. If Macrae is there I would be very happy to take him. Really nice skills and one who I would like to see distributing off HB

Try go the 1 - 2 punch, draft the younger and lure the older as FA ;)

Id' suggest we totaly trade out of this year's draft and move our 25 with some loose change into next year's second round. That should give us an increadibly stong position into next year's top end tallent pool. Two firsts, a second and two third rounders would be a a list boost that would sastain us for the next ten years. This is now even easieer to accomplish as we only need to have one pick (Coleman)

I must congratulate Dom Ambrosio for giving us such a strong hand. His reputation as a top shelf list manager is growing with every trade/draft period. Moving 18 and 19 into next year when no one wanted to trade their 2021 picks is brillint work.

The way I look at this he moved 18 and our future second for a future first. (IMO underpaid) Then he downgraded our 19 to 25 pluss loos change to still keep us in reasonable position and some loose chang to take advantage of Academy bidding. Absolutely brillint work. Like I said if we can turn 25 into next years second rounder that would be the cream on the cake... and what a cake it's going to be next year when we have the largest piece to cut from.

It will be interesting to see if we keep a rookie list spot open at the end of the draft.

There is the potential for clubs to sign undrafted 18 year olds during the SSP and a new waivers system during the first half of the season.

This could see clubs potentially sign some of this year’s late developers, instead of them going into next year’s draft pool.

I'd be keeping a rookie spot open into next year, particularly if we don't draft a ruck. Having the ability to pick up either a late developer or mature backup in certain positions is probably more handy then selecting someone with a pick in the 50s or 60s or in the rookie draft.

What are we doing with all the late pick points? Are we looking at a couple of Academy boys?
Don't think we will be able to do anything with them really. Feel like we just accepted them to make it look like some of our trades were reasonably fair. In reality tho I think attaining them has a waste of time. Hope we can squeeze something out of it.

This is actually a really good point. We're the only club that managed to trade for a future first round pick next year. Compare that to last year where four future first round picks changed hands during the trade period (and one during the draft).

Shows you how hard it was to trade into next year's draft, and how potentially how highly it's rated.

Fair chance Collingwood trade their future first round pick on draft night.

To get another pick in this year?
If I were them, I would keep that in stock for next year.

They have a top 3 touted father-son in next years draft in Nick Daicos, so the pick will get absorbed anyway - hence wanting to trade it out.
