You need to find a StKilda supporting mate and get a few tips on how to handle the countdown to the biggest night of their year, they have had plenty of practice.

Personally don't stress about what you can't change, me just excited about all and everyone we select tonight.

Now listen up BUDDY. It can be ROUGH waiting for the draft, particularly for our JUNIOR posters. Rest assured, there WILL be a DAY when all Hawk fans are very happy with what we have chosen.

Muston be a Dowler about the poor selections

The players wanting to stay in their home state is an interesting one. Doesn’t happen to any other sport that I can think of.

USA is bit of a diff culture, kids moving all over the place for college anyway. And soccer is like well you just gotta go wherever the best team, money and success is. Footy here most of the kids are from the one main state and want to play in the one main state where they'll be the big dog.

Have to say that the "interstate clubs need not apply" attitude isn't something I love in a player. If you really wanted to be a successful footy player you'd do it anywhere.
Yeah I don't like that attitude.

I still like him as a player though. If he comes to us he will be seen as a future star. If he goes to the bombers I will see him as a mummy's boy [emoji23]

My feelings on it depend on how he actually conveyed it to those clubs. If he told them, "Don't pick me. I don't want to go. And if you do I'll leave ASAP", then I'm against it. But if all he said was (and I think this is closer to reality), "I don't think I'm ready to live away from home. I'd really prefer not to go" then I can understand it.

The difference between the two isn't much except attitude. I support players being honest like this. While I'm sure clubs aren't happy to hear that from an exciting prospective pick, it's much better than wasting their pick and resources on someone who is likely not to be happy and perform to their best, and ultimately end up leaving for little in a year or two.

In the end it's a big risk on the players part too. Perkins for instance has likely just put off every interstate club and probably lowered his value in the eyes of half the Vic clubs who might now be questioning aspects of his mental resiliency and personality.
