We took him on as a project player but recently realised we couldn't wait until 2030.

All the best to him and he was a strange draft choice, but as fas as output is concerned, probably not much less than Davies and Temay.
Perhaps but Davies played senior footy, Temay was at least seen as draftable at the time. Finbar had actual clangers in his highlights video. 😄

If Gibbons gets elevated to the senior list, that would account for a second rookie position gone if they don't fill it.
Owies has to get elevated from cat b to cat a (if we keep him) so that fills one rookie spot, if Moore were to stay for whatever reason I believe he would move from supplementery selection to normal rookie list so that would fill the other.

Right......you've got me there.

There'll never be another Finbar, so we should just 'celebrate' the good.........and let go of the not so good :)

Would Saad and Brent Daniels be considered similar value at the trade table?

I’d personally rank Daniels higher (pick 10-15), but I may be underselling Saad (17-25). If we pursue the 2 for 1 first rounders from Cats or Lions, I’d prefer we get in Daniels’ ear before Saad and see if we can get anywhere .. could always offer one for each, but I’d prefer to bundle the second with next year’s for an established gun, 2-way running midfielder... Daniels is also mates with Dow and O’Brien (or at least went to school with them).

Daniels is a battler, unfortunately. Being mates with Dow and O'Brien isnt a very exciting prospect, is it?

Saad is another level altogether.

Not List Management as such, but as the delistings are starting to be announced do we think some assistant coach changes might be coming soon?
I have zero intel, but I’d be stunned if we went in with the same mix next season.

Maybe we could mske an offer to Sam Mitchell. Give him a chance to work with a future premiership coach.

Someone on the saints board called him a “less contested Jack Sinclair”.

I’m glad to see you escaped with some brains :p
There are some simple people from every fan base unfortunately

I did point out his numbers when playing in the midfield are elite.

2 best on grounds last year playing in the middle including the Prelim final

Williams and Martin for free in consecutive years would be huge.

Just listened to the AFL exchange podcast and Mitch Cleary mentioned a possible link between us and Luke Breust. I’d offer a second rounder, would be a fantastic player to add to our forward mix. Don’t care if he’s slightly old. We need winners and goal kickers, he is both.
Breust has been a wonderful footballer, but he's worth much less than a 2nd rounder at his age

Obviously a very capable half back but I do hope we use him further up the ground.

I can’t believe the Giants didn’t play him through the middle more in 2020 considering their issues.

Looks like Caldwell could leave to your mobs benefit as well :thumbsu:

I may be overrating him based on what he’s produced so far, but I’m forecasting he becomes at least a good and consistent player. To call him a battler is underselling him though. He’d be in our best 22 for sure.

I‘m not sure why any relationship to his game is being drawn by being mates with those guys? Was merely suggesting that if he was interested in returning to Vic, can’t hurt to have those guys at the club

Each to their own, but I’m happy with how my predictions turn out, generally speaking.

Do we really though? Especially if we're likely getting rid of BSOS, Goddard, O'Dwyer, Moore on top of Kreuzer retiring.

Going with the current ages and listed positions on the CFC app (key fwd, fwd, ruck, key def, def):

Key Def:
  1. Weitering 22
  2. Jones 29
  3. Macreadie 22
Def (3rd tall/general)
  1. Plowman 26
  2. Marchbank 23
Ruck:
  1. Pittonet 24
  2. De Koning 21 (can also play KF)
Key Fwd:
  1. Curnow 23
  2. McKay 22
  3. Casboult 30 (can also play KD & ruck)
Fwd (3rd tall/general):
  1. McGovern 25 (can also play 3rd tall/gen def)
  2. Silvagni 22 (can also play mid/tag)
Considering we usually play 3 talls (2x key, 1x 3rd) at each end, our current setup effectively gives us one backup for each category. Levi gives us some extra security across 3 lines, however he's close to the end.

12 players out of 46 is 26%, 7 out of 22 is 32%. So even if you counted those 5 who almost certainly won't be here next year, that's 37% so not a huge amount greater than our standard 3+1+3 on field talls. Even if the lists next year go to 38+2, those 12 players are only 30% of the list, so less than their on-field percentage.

Looking forward, I think we need another KPD and another ruckman to develop. I mean real key position defender, not a3rd tall type, we're set there for a while. I feel KPF is less important, you can play undersized for a bit if need be, like the tigers did pre-Lynch, but you don't want to run out of depth in the ruck of KPD department.
Macreadie doesn't play like a kpd. More like a tall flanker.

He's got scope to be a good player, certainly. My impression is that Saad is the greater need at present, but a player like Daniels also fits our list.

Thought you didn't like Patmore. I'd be very interested to see what could be worked out there.
You're confusing me for arr0w... I wanted us to draft Patmore.

That's how he played maybe 18 months ago. Playing with a bit more fire in the last few months, and has more of the body for it too. 3 more kilos and some extra contested work and he'd be fine IMO. Just a question of the state of his body and how coachable he is.

Imagine going from GWS and working with Lenny Hayes to Carlton and strategizing midfield craft/stoppages with Johnny Barker.

Pls fix this Lloyd.
When you put it that way it's pretty depressing.

Having met Barker myself he seems like the type of guy players would really like as a person... just everything he touches seems to turn to crap.

Don't know if we can slot him into a non specialist position, but it's definitely time for a change.

Is there no talking Judd into teaching our young mids a thing or two? He could bloody do it all. Inside. Outside.

I know he has no interest in coaching... but gee he would be perfect

Apologies #1 supporter.
This has nothing to do with me.

Murph has been a captain to this club. He's played for us for 15 years. I agree that I don't think he should roll around again, but he deserves better than what you said in that post.
