Will be a shame to see JSOS go if it happens - smart player that we haven't seen the best of yet by a long way imo, particularly if he can build his tank a bit and become a true rotating forward/mid.

Will mean the closest thing to a F/S on the list will be Williams and Williamson. :drunk::drunk:
I think this will be the year F/S all get told to play the year in the TAC and get another year under the belt before clubs have to make a decision. If 2021 goes alright from a Covid perspective lists might be expanded back (4 extra rookies doesn't really cost that much) making it easier to select project players.

Totally against trading Jsos.

He was best 22 then had injury problems.

I am a huge JSOS fan.

I love his desperation and his smarts. I am happy for him to be in the 22 and just 'give us whatever we need'.

But he's not playing in front of McKay, Curnow, Levi (for now) or McGovern (if he continues to be gifted games).

He's at best a part time mid.

I think he's perfect down back, but he's not playing in from of Weitering, Jones, Doc or Marchbank. And he's too slow to take Plowman's role on the smalls.

I would pick him if fit. But I reckon he's also a conundrum for the match committee...

I think if he leaves, it's for a team that has a role for him as a flexible 3rd tall. It won't be because of Ben or SOS.

I'll put this forward and piss people off; I wouldn't be surprised to see SPS traded.

If he won't be playing back, is given limited opportunity as a midfielder and not seen as a forward type we need - What do we do?

I just feel that if clubs come knocking, we'd leave the door open. Just seems right to me.

I can't argue with this...

... But I want to.

I don't know if there's any way to know that. We know for a fact that Prestia and Cotchin are ball magnets; from 2013-2016 at the Suns, Prestia averaged 25.4, 27.1, 27.1, and 25.9 disposals over that 4 year patch, and Cotchin has averaged more than 24 disposals across 6 seasons (an arbitrary number, I'll grant you; 4 years over 25 disposals). You're right that they're simply not a high possession side, but 15 disposals a game might buff up to 18-21 a game under a more high possession regime, and (in my opinion) I do not think that's enough for us purely by itself.

So am I, but as a supplement to someone else.

We need more everything, so he'd be great. But getting the ball and disposing it to advantage is harder than tackling is (although, given how shitty our tackling is as a team, maybe I should amend that some) we need an accumulator to compensate.
There isn't, therein lies the risk of dealing in players like this.
Some may view it that he'll automatically elevate his game with more midfield minutes while others may consider him to already be producing at his maximum output.
I'd suggest greater midfield minutes coupled with a higher possession gameplan would see his numbers bump up quite a bit - just how much obviously remains to be seen.
FWIW his output isn't drastically dissimilar to someone like Setterfield, so I'm interested -dependent on the price.

It wouldnt be surprising should it eventuate but the timing would disappoint as we'd essentially be selling low in that scenario.
I hope that he sticks fat and comes out firing next year to really solidify is place in the side (same can be said for Lob, Dow & Kennedy).

What we need is someone the opposition will pay attention to apart from Cripps.
Walsh won't be far off that level. Neither will Williams if he hits some form. I'm still iffy about banking on turning a life-long half back flanker into a midfielder though..

I still wouldn't mind a Crouch brother tbh.

Just look at Zac's stats from games where he plays in the middle. You mind will be put to ease.

Perfect for us but wouldn't call Williams elite. I guess we're taking the gamble that he can be though.

Just on this, Williams is absolutely an elite footballer.

Whether he becomes an elite midfielder remains to be seen of course.

Witherden is being kept out of the team by Birchall. I think we could get him, which means we could move SPS up the ground.

Im not against the idea, against people thinking Witherden is better, when he can’t find his way in to 4 defensive positions on the ground or a bench position at Brissy.

Dunno about elite, but he's handy.

He won't fall into our 'star power' or top 6 category I wouldn't have thought.

Never been AA and hasn't finished higher than 5th in the BnF after 8 years in the system. He'll compliment our stars very nicely.

Cripps
Walsh
Williams

All of a sudden doesn't look like the worst starting brigade.

Need 1-2 more B+ player.

Great point.
I was contemplating this with the fantastic Williams news.
I think the days of Ed in the centre square combo need to be over. I absolutely want him in the 22, still love his tagging/run-with ability and his toughness. But want some more dynamic players at the centre bounce.
I’m not the first to say this, but the number of times we are left in the wake of our opponents in centre stoppages is alarming. Setters, Cripps and Ed just won’t get it done.
Let’s say the list stays the same (although I doubt it will): I want Cripps or Setters at all stoppages as the extractor, but the other 2 should be a combination of any of Walsh, ZW, Martin, Cuners, Fisher, Gibbons, etc.
No more Murphy either. Need some more ability to spread once we win the ball, to give a chain of handballs to free up a running player, rather than the kick and hope approach we currently employ.
Way too early to discuss this as we don’t know the makeup of the squad, but that’s what I’m thinking ATM.

it's a good mix.

Cripps the inside bull attracting the tag
Walsh gut running capable of playing defensively too
Williams the impact mid
