This is not what I log on for.
Blergh.
One if not two of Betts, Fisher, Gibbons and Fogarty will miss out.
Next to no chance Betts isn't picked to play his 200th for us R1, however I really hope we don't see Betts for much more than 10 games or so next year if form is similar to this year. Would not like to see him taking games from Fisher and Fogarty all year.
Interested to see how Fisher, Gibbons and Fogarty gel though. Gibbons really improved his forward craft this year, but id like to see them all rotate through the middle for short periods.

Hey guys, got a few days off and I have some ideas for my next article, but will only have time to do one.
Would you rather see me write about:
Why we should get excited about Brodie Kemp
Why Williamson should play wing in 2021
Why Williams will make it as a midfielder.
You can let me know what you think here, or you can answer the poll I have up on my Twitter:
Thanks guys!
I expected Betts to fall off a cliff last year but he truly surprised me because as you say, the only thing he done wrong was fumble. If he can get his touch back next year he could be very handy.I have wanted to see Gibbons play center more. Problem is half forwards especially ones who play high, in modern footy its a hard running role. Pretty much an outside forward running midfield role so you're not getting fresh legs rotating from there.
Fisher, if he improves his physicality and Fogarty if fit could be good options.
Funny thing with Betts this year was the only thing wrong with him was his hands. Still could run, forward pressure was good and got in dangerous positions but fumbled a lot. It's not really an old age thing unless its from not training much between games because he's old and his body isn't pulling up. Either way I'd like to see players good form push him out.
All those players have good and not so good traits, it'll just come down to form and fitness.

Windows certainties (injury permitting) for round one:
Jones Weiters Doc Plow Saad
Crippa Walsh Setters Murph Ed Williams
McKay Casboult (if CC out) Martin
Highly likely:
Gibbo Fog Fish Marchy SPS Betts Newnes Willo TDK MCG
Good chance (presuming more than a couple out injured/kill preseason):
Philp kemp Newman cunners SOS Newman
Outside chance (would have to tear up preseason or we have a lot of Injuries):
Pitto Dow LOB Honey Cottrell Macreadie Stocker
Big Gap to Ramsay (probable delist next year)
No hope/possible delist now:
Phillips Owies Moore Kennedy Polson
I think I’d delist Kennedy. Harsh maybe. But I don’t see him threatening for games. Save the salary. I’d def delist Polson. I’d def keep Macreadie. I would possibly re-rookie Phillips. I’d let Moore and Owies go too.
I don’t ever recall having almost no one on the ‘def delist next year’ list. It’s Ramsay and Betts at this stage. Probably Murph.
Incredible.
Looking at the free agent list for next year, the 2 names that pop out are Josh Kelly and Zack Merrett.
Both are RFA and should cost a similar amount in terms of trade collateral and salary.
If Walsh continues his development to an inside mid and we see further development from Setters, then I’d lean towards Kelly.
Spot on Kelly misses to many games Merret would be perfect for us!Kelly v Merrett, I would go for the latter.
Kelly at his best is the better footballer, but he is also far more injury prone.
Merrett doesn't miss a lot of football. He would be the perfect addition to our midfield.
Nice work. Personally wouldn't call Murphy a lock on rd 1, but he is a decent chance. Also, I wouldn't delist Kennedy and I highly doubt the club will, because they would've put him up for a trade. While we haven't seen the best of Dow, Stocker or Kemp yet, I would keep Kennedy for our inside mid stocks.
Me too. I think theres a tendency not to trade with archrivals and/or threats.I wish I shared your optimism for Fogarty as a small forward. Just don't see it. There has got to be more to the role than just the ability to apply forward pressure.
On another note, after having had some time to reflect on our trading, think Jayden Stephenson would have fitted in well as a hf with his pace. Would have preferred we had taken his salary dump and traded out a second rounder and a future third.

Also agree that now days you only rest mids forward if they are playing deep. If they can’t play deep then they go from mid to bench
IMO Cripps is a good candidate. Has no trouble winning the ball up forward but his goal kicking must improve. IMO it could but he needs to train for it.
Another prospect for the role is Kemp and Silvagni. Depends what level they play at.

Any modification is considered a counteroffersDo we have the services of a lawyer who specialises in contract law on this forum? Was an interesting exchange. To be honest dont like seeing bets arranged on this forum. Now getting back to my last post, do we trade our draft picks back for a higher draft pick on draft day?
One ruck option that hasn't been discussed much is the defender ruck.I had high expectations of Dow and O'Brien when they first arrived, and look how that's turned out. Especially after his knee reconstruction, I'm not putting any pressure on the kid.
In terms of Silvagni, I think he's so valuable to the team and the mid-forward role he plays. In terms of help for Cripps, this is as good as it gets but it's up to the coaches to realise that too. It's time we put some pressure off Cripps and let him spend time up forward while leaving JSOS in the guts. But that just leaves one problem, if the Silvagni-Cripps combo will serve as our third key forward (assuming we're fully fit with Charlie and Harry), who is our ruck relief?
Its ok to have a team of mids that are balanced and not just inside or just outside mids... but I would be leaning towards Kelly regardlessLooking at the free agent list for next year, the 2 names that pop out are Josh Kelly and Zack Merrett.
