Stocker, LOB, Dow, SPS, Cuningham , Kennedy, JSOS.

End of 2021 - who will have stepped up?

SPS - for mine, the only one who has really proven himself. Move him up the ground - this guy is Michael Long v2 (and just as quick).

JSOS - yep hard at it, bleeds blue, can play forward/mid, but needs a big 2021.

Kennedy - see JSOS (bar the bleeds Blue bit). Better mid than Jack, but injuries keep stalling him.

Cuners - the could be anything guy, who likely won't be much at all. His best is stellar, easily A grade stuff. But the 90% of games where he goes missing. Last chance saloon for David.

Dow - Paddy looks the goods physically now. Can he deliver?

LOB - needs a small miracle imo. Best of luck to the lad.

Stocker - personal issues, rumours of not being liked by the playing group blah blah. But can play and has the goods too. Hope he fires his best shots.

Reckon three of this lot, maybe four, will move on (or be moved on) at the end of 2021.

french earl grey or gtfo..............
As you may imagine I've had my share of withering looks...but the most witheringest by far was when I found myself seated next to a proper green tea grower at some dinner and attempting to make small talk told them how I like the T2 French Earl Grey...was like that Bruhn kid on draft night thereafter.

Plowman, Jones, Petrevski Seton
Docherty, Weitering, Saad
Williams, Walsh, Setterfield
Silvagni, Casboult, Martin
Fisher, McKay, Betts
De Koning, Cripps, ECurnow
Murphy, Williamson, Newnes, Fogarty

Kemp, XXXX, Parks
Cottrell, Marchbank, Newman
Stocker, O'Brien, Gibbons
Honey, CCurnow, Cuningham
Philp, McGovern, Durdin
Pittonet, Dow, Kennedy
Philp, Carroll, Owies, Ramsay

A lot rests in the hands of the fitness of Charlie and Caleb. Can see why we are keen to start Kemp at half back, a little light on but you could argue that's because Willo and Newnes are off the bench in the ones, so we could always shift the magnets around.

As much as he frustrates me, Levi saves our arse if we cop an injury at either end to a tall.

Not that I completely agree with the starting 22, but it is balanced

What it does continue highlight is how thin our spine is

Betts was put on the rookie list as per the Covid rule that means that $80K of a rookies salary is outside the salary cap. It is not in any way a reflection that we are near the TPP limit. Probably just allows us to front end someone's contract by $160K (bearing in mind Kennedy is the same) to help out with our salary cap down the line. Be silly if we didn't use this "loophole" as did many other teams.
As I understand it, the 'loophole' isn't a perpetual benefit: you can store spare TPP for up to 2 or 3 seasons, then you have to start spending it.

It was originally 2 years, and the overspend was the fixed sum left over from previous years, but now I think it's 3 seasons and a percentage?

Good snapshot there reubs. I agree with 95% of that. I’m most bullish on JSOS as a third tall Followed by Kennedy. I’m crossing everything for Dow, Stocker and Cunners but do think they need to show it in 21 or I’m preferring others on our list. Harsh on stocker as he hasn’t had much of a chance. I pick JSOS because I’m picking determination, perseverance over a flashy 5 min highlight reel In McGovern.

LoB...tihnk he now conned the club with all of his talk of working on not being soft and getting the hard ball. Convinced SoS and the team while with us as an academy prospect. Ok, I’ve got a bit off the rail here but I love conspiracy. He hoodwinked our recruiters.

the one I have a different opinion on based on 2020 is SPS....fast....no way ever. There was one game on the wing where the opposition player put 15 metres on him in seconds. He had zero speed. Maybe he has a side step and a 15 metre kick at best. Zero speed and zero penetration in 2020. I’d agree he has been better So I’m the hope category for him.

Especially when players salaries are reducing by 3.5%, but the cap is reducing by 9%. Teams will be back ending contracts to deal that situation. You have to save the money where you can.

So bullish about what we have put together thus far.

Saad will do very nicely taking Simmos spot.

Williams has that toughness we need and will relish being at a big Melb. club....will quickly become a fan favorite.

Fogarty will go straight in the middle IMO....An outstanding prospect with a lot of Jimmy Bartel bout him.

Carroll looks like he could be ready to go and highlights ooze class and composure, and that left boot!

Durdin from all reports could be the next Eddie Betts......Hope so because the old one is in need of an upgrade.

We have filled the needs our list required and with a repaired Crippa and another year older Walsh, TDK , Setters and Harry.......

Martin should be better year 2 and hopefully he can give us a whole year of what he showed early this year. Could turn into
another A grader with consistency.

Caleb back.... Leon Cameron said of all players to leave GWS he was the one he most regrets...... A big 2021 would not surprise

Still very positive about Jacks upside....We need what he brings , passion, determination and guts. ( the nut does not fall far from the tree)

Newman showed us he is a top line player in what we have seen and will be pushing hard for that other HBF role.

Kemp??? Lets hope so....so highly rated by club.

And if we do finally get a fit Charlie boy back well that would be the cherry on top!:D

I am excited... Finals ???
You better believe it.....the most exciting young list with a wide open window to jump through.

The young list is exciting but more exciting is the quality of players we've picked up via trade in the past two years.
Martin, Saad and Williams are huge 'gets' and make up for a good chunk of our starting squad an each makes up for something we jus didn't have.

Plenty of the premium-picked young guys will be fighting for starting spots and not all can fit in....for now.
Funny how for all the top picked midfielders we've drafted the non-mid taken at #30 is now more important than all of them, barring Walsh......in my eyes.
I doubt any other young player will be asked to carry heavy loads, as TDK will be next year.

I believe the answer is....8
LOB, H, TDK, Newman, Fisher, Ramsay, Saad & Carroll

Cunners has a bit of the Nick Graham curse, too good for VFL but not good enough to play AFL mid, gets given opportunity out of position, unsurprisingly fails and ends up back at VFL

possible 2021

I know I have left plenty out and am being speculative on wings but just throwing it out there.

You have Newman ahead of Docherty, was this a mistake?

Cunners issue is, I think he doesn't read open play well. Excellent at the instinctive stuff, grab and dish, hitting gaps, reading the ball off hands, just not at getting to good spots to receive.

I think maybe permanent mid might be his best position
