Hawthorn made the right move in trading for needs ahead of going to the draft when they did.
The CFC is now in a position to do the same, adding immediate quality ahead of potential quality. We probably agree on this front.
What's this 'become a rear vision watcher' thing? Am I outside the circle of trust?
It's about knowing where we are in the scheme of things and to announce Hawthorn as 'trying to stay relevant' is......come on now?
99% of us would be happy to be as irrelevant as Hawthorn are, given the recent success they've had. No team can stay on top for ever and a day, yet they're still doing OK after what was always going to be a dip. We didn't just dip....we dove down deep.
Right now, we're just pretending and maybe we need to put others down to feel better about oursleves.
The CFC is heading in the right direction (Can't get worse than 18th) but there's a long...long...way to go, before we can suggest teams that are constantly above us, as trying to stay relevant. They are relevant and will continue to attract players before we will, for what they have put in place.
Harks, you are starting to sound like cookie and Moody. Who gives a **** where we have finished compared to Hawthorn over the last 10 years, both clubs were at completely different stages
Hawks built a flag list through the draft, that's right, the draft, then played the FA game extremely well
They lost most of their star/xfactor players, so recently they have topped up, through the trade period, rather than replenishing young talent
They are not a flag contender and if they stay with this strategy, they will emulate the Cats, competitive without truly be a threat
