Williams is one year older and has played 107 games. He’s no Crouch or Pearce. Let’s get Pearce, if he’s cheap, alert is not an issue.
I think people need to stop with this line of thinking that Russell is a god, its Not like we are or have had a good injury run with him at the helm.

Never bought into the exaggerated hype and no reason to start now.
The 'best in the business' will always be surpassed by a 'better in the business'

Not to say that Russell isn't working our guys well but the record isn't really showing up anything particularly special.
We went through this to some degree with Buttifant and that didn't end particularly well.

How would you compare them, what measure?

IMO there are 3 main areas we need to look improve this off season.

HBF/Wingman- Someone with pace and skills.
Free Agent- Williams (GWS)
High cost target- Laird (Adel) or McGrath (Ess)
Low cost target- Witherden (Bris) or Phillips (Pies)
All ready at the club- O'Brien, Philp or Ramsay

Williams would be my first choice.

Inside mid- Someone to help Cripps
FA- B.Crouch (Adel)or Viney (Melb)
HCT- Wines (Port), Brayshaw (Melb) or Oliver (Melb)
LCT- Fiorini (GC) or Mathieson (Bris)
ATC- Kennedy, Dow or Stocker

Brayshaw would be a good fit and Melbourne need some pace maybe see if they are interested in Dow and some pick swapping.

Small Forward- Someone who can tackle and kick goals.
FA- Puopolo (Haw)
HCT- Papley (Syd)
LCT- Venables (WC), Cameron (WC) or Petruccelle (WC)
ATC- Honey or Kemp.

West Coast have about 10 small Forwards on there list and we should see who we can shake loose. I'll like to double down on small Forwards and add Venables and Cameron.

Looking at who is all ready on our list IMO small forwards are our great need.

Low cost inside mid= jack Graham from the tigers.

How would you compare them, what measure?

Keeping players on the park.
Minimizing injury lists.
Fine tuning bodies to best fit specific roles.

To be fair though, this year may have thrown up some challenges as it's hard to gauge what work may have been prepared for a normal season to the one that was thrown up to all clubs.
Like I said, he may well be doing his bit, but there's little to show that he's a step ahead of the game and if so....what is it that makes him so?

We have 5 knees, 1 foot, only 4 are soft tissue

Doesnt seem like we are running out of steam, considering most of the squad is maturing

Two words: Andrew. Russell.

Also Freo are notorious for having a poor medical staff, so maybe a change of clubs is what he needs?

EDIT: If that's the case we should immediately stop chasing Williams and B. Crouch, they get injured all the time. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and make these risky acquisitions to win a flag.
We won't be taking Brad Crouch

I'll be interested to see how it plays out if he is in fact on the trade table.

Have a feeling he'll be a player that everyone on here will be asking why didn't we target him after the trade is done.

Pearce, Williams and Saad could fix a lot of our problems in our back half.

Imagine a starting 7 defenders comprising:

Pearce (FB)
Weitering (CHB)
Jones (3rd Tall)
Docherty & Williams (Running Half Backs)
Plowman & Saad (Lockdowns)

That gives us a lot more balance :)
Jones goes from defensively inept to looking like ****ing Rance.

How many of those are soft tissue injuries?

Edit: nevermind it's 4 soft tissue injuries
Most of the soft tissue injures have been fairly minor though, right? A week here, a couple of weeks there... Not sure if anyone has done any major soft tissue damage and missed a significant block of games.

That’s got to be a good sign.

Big yes from me for Alex Pearce only 25 and his best is AA material
I'd happily give up sps for him
Also use Marchbank in a trade to get Papley
McLean on the cheap would be handy
Williams as a free agent

In: Pearce,papley,Williams,McLean
Out: Sps, Marchbank draft picks
