Starting to really warn to Williams as our no.1 target and cool on Papley.

A backline with Doch, Williamson and Williams would be so deadly. Poise (doch), long, raking kick (williamson) and speed (williams)

Mix that with Weiters Jones Plowman and thats so good.

I think Martin Fisher Cuningham Honey we can be more than serviceable without Papley.

Also random: does anyone keep getting an ad about halle berry looking amazing at 54 yrs old?
I was getting that, now it's changed to Liz Hurley aged 55 yada yada

Team for next season:

B: Plowman----------------Weitering------------------Williamson

H: Docherty----------------McGovern-----------------Marchbank

C: Newnes------------------Cripps--------------------O'Brien

H: Cuningham-------------C.Curnow-----------------Martin

F: Papley------------------McKay---------------------Fisher

Foll: Kreuzer, Setterfield, Walsh

Bench: Dow, Stocker, Kemp, De Koning
Why do you format like this. Max 3 per line dude.

Formatting ffs.

Good team though.

I live in Brisbane too. Of course, Brisbane have recruited well and that's clear to everyone. But it's absolutely absurd to say that they have no home ground advantage. Every team gains an advantage playing at home -- it's a statistical fact. The evidence says -- undeniably -- that home grounds give you a 1-2 goal head start. Now, consider that Brisbane get to play half their games on the same ground every year, a ground that no other team uses, while Carlton share a home ground with five other co-tenants. It's ridiculous to think that Brisbane don't gain some advantage from that.
I'm not saying they don't have a home ground advantage, I'm just saying it's not the hostile environment you're making it out to be when compared to a Perth or Adelaide for example.

Not sure what type of list management you guys are doing...

Very interesting. Sounds like we’re finally becoming an attractive destination to Free Agents.

We couldn’t sign Williams up quick enough. The perfect replacement for Simmo, and another guy to rotate through the midfield.

If something like this were to arise obviously he is a perfect replacement for Simpson, but where do you see Newman fitting? Let me preface that I am in no way saying we shouldn't go for Williams, he was one of my favourite players to watch in 2019!

Newman is depth, we knew that when he came into the club. Had a good season in 2019, but not a certain starter IMO.

He will get games if there are injuries to our running defenders.

Terrific that we are interested in Williams.
He would be a fantastic get as a FA.
Assume every other club would be interested also.
Williams apparently though has no desire to leave the Giants, he just needs a suitable contract from them.
The ball is in the Giants court, if they want him, he’ll stay.
If they do retain him and Cameron, which apparently they are very confident of, something else may have to give ...

Something is going to have to give with the list reductions. GWS would have put money aside to put a reasonable contract forward, but they’re going to struggle to beat a much bigger offer.

I also suspect Williams is going to see how the rest of the season plays out for both teams. If Carlton keep pushing it’s going to be hard to knock but their contract offer.

If given access to any player from GWS, Williams may well be second to Whitfield for me. He has garnered attention in recent years, but has flown under the radar prior to that. If I were GWS, I’d be letting bigger names go before Williams. Take him over Cogs or Kelly. Neck and neck with Taranto, but I prefer Zac. Would be an absolute boon for us, should we end up with him.

The Giants can find the money to satisfy Williams, who has no desire to leave, if they want to.

They’ve got Lachie Ash to replace Williams long term, but given the many big contracts on their books they’re undoubtedly going to feel the squeeze regardless whether they can sign guys like Perryman, Caldwell and Hately.

I’m wondering if they’re really want to allow their list to thin with a whole bevy of players OOC.

May come down to a decision between who they want to keep more out of Williams and Kelly.

Ash will be needed to replace Shaw.
I agree the decision is likely between Williams and Kelly.
The decision is the Giants though and best to look at it through their eyes.
How do the Giants see things ?

Williams and Papley always made sense as targets for us.
Wines and BCrouch......not so much.

There's no point getting excited for an outcome that's a long way from coming about, but I feel we're aiming at the right targets.
The talk is undoubtedly going to get ramped up in the next few weeks, but it's always the names that make sense, to be the ones we target.

No BCrouch.....No Witherden.....No McLean.....No Brodie, nor Wright.

One name I wouldn't be surprised should we genuinely be look at is Viney.
Not saying we need him, but it just feels closer to being right than the aforementioned.

Love how some just going on with Williams doesn't want to leave, yet think others definitely will

Williams will look for the best deal/finals contender. GWS won't be able to match the money on offer by a number of clubs

Cameron is a stronger chance of staying

So, either trade Kelly this year, or they will lose Williams

I think it says a lot about how stacked GWS are that I would be over the absolute moon to get Williams and reckon he should be our number 1 priority this off-season, but he'd probably be the 5th or 6th player I'd pick from there if I had the choice.

Newman either comes back into the side and SPS moves further up the ground.

Or Newman becomes a depth player and we have a greater capacity to cover injuries.
