Oh I'm sure Gillon and Hocking are working on something completely imbecilic. Probably end up playing every single match at Geelong's home ground.
Hocking has never come across a bad idea that he didn't like.

Do people still believe he went home to ge with family?

He left us as there are greater opportunities for him to make money in Vic compared to SA.

Surely nobody believes that. It also surprises me that people continue to believe that Danger is only on $800k because Geelong would pay any more because that is what Geelong says. Danger doesn't discount his value, Geelong couldn't lodge an RFA contract because Danger's deal was worth at least a couple of hundred gorillas more than Selwood's. And Geelong are on the record saying that would never happen under their salary cap system. Why wouldn't you lodge a 5 year by $800k deal and see if we blink and you get him for nothing? The only logical answer is that Danger's deal is not anything like $800k/year. Their list never smacked of 'taking unders' for flag glory at the time, it had a few high enders and lots of trash.

Yet they are still at the club because they conveniently framed the review for the footy department only.

And yet that weasel Chapman rolls himself out at the end of it to let everyone know that despite the board not being within the scope of the review, it was found that he was a high performing Chairman. Seriously, this particular weaselly coward is the reason that our club will only ever elevate to the top few in an adhoc manner. There's no ruthlessness and sadly, the coach that him and Roo chose seeps non-ruthlessness from every pore. They actively selected a coach that would give turds like Gibbs and Mackay the best chance of playing a game. It's disgusting.

There were a number of rumours at the time of "jobs for the girls". Costa would've made sure his family were looked after.

I'm sure he's on more than 800K, but that might be his club salary

Imagine the massive improvement to skills and quality with 8 teams removed.

However, Carlton's too big to fold so they'd stay and I'd introduce a Tasmania team while we're at it, for 12 teams.

I doubt it'd change at all. The biggest issue is that the game style which has seen the most success in recent time is counterproductive to producing a skillful game. Pressure will always inevitably break it, even the Hawthorn side of the mid 10s weren't immune to it. That's before factoring in stuff like confidence, the level of the playing field has increased meaning it'll be harder to execute, and a whole lot of other variables into the mix. It'd just be the same as now, outside of being a lot harder for a very good SANFL/VFL player to make it (and it's already at the point it's somewhat rare to make that transition up and have long term success).

The only way you make AFL more "skillful" would be to introduce zones, or whatever other measured you could think off that'd lower the amount of players around the ball, or to lower the fitness needed to be an adequate player. You'd see an uptake in skillful play the moment that happens as you either create more space/time, or you lessen the impact of fatigue.

7Mate have the 2007 R21 Geelong v Port Adelaide at Kat Pk on tomorrow night

Absolute cracker of a game and just highlighted they were the best 2 teams of 2007

I do recall that game. I lived in fear of Alberton until about 5 minutes into the opening bounce in the last game of September. :)

Mind you I know Alberton lived in fear too till the 3rd quarter of the last Saturday of September in 2017.

A question if it hasn't been asked but, if we are paying a portion of Eddies and Jerkas salary...and they are getting paid bugger all because of Covid 19, then can we roll that forward into next year?

I can understand us not getting away with our own players, but those two aren't on our list, if we asked Gil, he'd be dumb enough to OK it

Wimbledon, or rather the All England Lawn Tennis Club, have been paying Pandemic Insurance and are about to receive a payout of $141m on a $2m a year premium. I assume these are USD.

Why didn't the AFL do this? It could afford the premium.

Wimbledon is only trying to cover a three week period, so its premium would be much lower than the AFL, which for all intents and purposes is nine months long.

6, 7, 9 for me....anyone but Whately!

For entertainment I go 3 and 5 straight up but having trouble selecting a 3rd. Probably Commeti, but like Bruce, it got a bit tired at the end of his career. I think Sandy Roberts belongs in the same convo with those two for pure play by play. I know it’s unpopular but I love BT calling the game.

My memory, fading that it is, is that he was a bit too energetic for me. And that he held words for toooooooooooooo long. Used funny nicknames as well from memory.
Which he wasn't allowed to do on TV, which rendered him useless

I liked him in little bits at a time, a full game was a bit much.

That was his game, if you weren’t into that you definitely wouldn’t like him.
