Who is everyone's 2nd team this season?

Brisbane were fun to get behind last season though it had a very familiar ending
Suns.

Just like the way they've built over the last 3 years after a misguided first few seasons. Plus they're half an SA side.

Far out Bicks. I said he looks good after he did a couple nice things in his second game. Didn't look out of place. Chill.
I actually thought he looked a bit off the pace. There was a bit of play where he had a tonne of space and ran to the 50m line and instead of having a shot tried a short dinky kick that went straight to a Suns defender. I think he will be a good player, just needs more time at the lower level first.

I don't mind them.

The leg ups they've received at our expense (probably moreso than any other club) make it hard to get behind them now though.

I wouldn't piss on Gill if he was on fire.

So you'd have dropped an in form Jacobs for O'Brien in 2017 and 2018 when we were in Premiership contention? Also bearing in mind Reilly O'Brien missed the latter half the 2018 season after mid year shoulder surgery? Yeah OK

In 2017? Absolutely. That's not hindsight either, you'll find plenty of posts on this very board in 2017 saying we should have been resting him at the time because of how terribly he ran (hobbled) out the last half of 2016. Even just an extra week or 2 off around the bye could've made a huge difference.

Always have a soft spot for WCE. From the top of the table though probably GC or Collingwood. Can't stand Brisbane, Richmond or Geelong. And well Port is Port.

How long are North into their rebuild, is this the fifth year?
They made finals in 2016 was it? Started the year 9-0 or 10-0 or something after playing all the bottom teams then died in the arse before just sneaking into 8th and getting pulverised by us in the first final.

Personally I would take Danger over Cameron every day of the week.

Got to a GF with which one? Which one still hasn’t??

I couldn’t resist ;)

That is fine—I just see it differently.

It is an argument that depends on how you look at Crows roster of that time frame (2016-2018) and how you project their presence would have altered 2019-2020 and going forward.

Not saying surfer boy ain’t any good—he is. I just think he brings elements to a club atmosphere that don’t elevate a team in the manner it should from a guy with his abilities.

IMO he's much better than Cameron, who looks like a dear in the headlights even when they win.

I'm not sure how our selection and results can have you arrive at that opinion. Cameron failing GWS talent, but Nicks not exactly getting the best out of his players. Way too early to tell, but given his pedigree, it's unlikely he's better than any senior coach presently employed.

Too early to judge.

Weak coaching panel, woefully out of form senior players and youth who are devoid of the game time they should've had.

Judge him next season IMO.

He said he chose to go without a senior assistant, coaching panel on him. Senior player form is his problem, he's playing them, they're not being held to account, so he approves of their form. Yep, mistake being repeated as we speak.

Been hearing how your Club has copped a lot of flak for not bottoming out and always being around the 8.

Of course the flag is the ultimate, but at the same time, I would hate to be Melbourne and Carlton that have basically failed and in constant state of rebuild. Carlton's resurgence has taken place on the back of multiple rebuilds and failures after even f**king up their earlier attempts.

Those mid-table finishes and the introduction on GWS & GC have killed any chance of us having a decent run at any draft picks. When Melb. played Carlton earlier this year they had 20, yep 20 first round draft picks on the ground between them. Finally having a bad year and looking at two top ten draft picks. What happens ? World wide pandemic and no underage / VFL footy.

Can see Gil and the AFL deciding a lottery system is best for this years draft. And here's how the numbers will fall;
Pick 1 - Carlton
Pick 2 - Richmond
Pick 3 - GWS
Pick 4 - Melbourne and so on......

There is going to be massive sliders this year. The fact that the top 30 players change from say the start of the year to November speaks volumes. The fact that there has been a lack of opportunities to assess a players ability and worth is going to potentially hurt some Clubs.

Ka-ching !
I expect the Top 5 to probably jostle for position, but with the Crows probably exposing their hand already, I cant see much changing on who we get at Pick 1.

Mind you we will most likely bid on the Doggies player in the Academy at Pick 1, lose that and then take Thilthorpe. Again if we land Pick 2, that also makes things a lot easier. Surely one of those picks will live up to their reputation.

The GWS pick that we have, which in all likelihood may be around Pick 10, gives us a chance for a slider too.

2 picks also in the 20s as well, helps facilitate that.

So the remaining games this weekend:

Carlton v Port - no real effect on our ladder position or draft picks
Hawthorn v Melbourne - Hawks 3 wins, Melbourne 2 wins, would rather Melbourne win
Fremantle v West Coast - Freo only have two wins BUT we also have their R3 pick, so go West Coast!
Crows v St Kilda - go the Saints!

Our big win yesterday was Brisbane beating GWS, I got $2.32 :) and we have their first rounder, that was a happy game!

When do we play each other?

I'm tipping draw

We had our chance v Lions in Brisbane a coupla' years ago to grab pick 1. We won against alot of big footy advice.

Do you know we haven't beaten you in S.A. since 2003 ? Port since 2011. We have never won at Adelaide Oval.

I'm tipping you.

Look forward to seeing Ben Brown go back to Melbourne to begin his run up for a shot at goal.
