When we're a real chance of finishing stone last, I am loathe to trade out a future first. On the flip side though it means there would be no 'tanking' shenanigans nor attempts to massage results, you can just go balls to the walls if you want. I feel pretty confident in saying that if we didn't have a first rounder this year we were a good chance of snagging a couple of extra wins, for example.

That said, I verrrry much doubt we would even flirt with trading our first.

He also had repeat lower leg injuries... Don't get me wrong, he looked pretty tubby at times and I suspect he could have done better, but he was also repeatedly behind the rest of the pack in regards to fitness due to his knees and then soft tissue issues.

They've had a bit of money come of the books. Simpson and Kreuzer. Also Martin and McGovern were heavily frontloaded.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of their players are getting paid a lot less than average to get players across this trade period. They just resigned a bunch of players to one year deals. Hawks used to do it, I reckon geelong, west coast and collingwood do it too. B and C graders taking a little pay hit to keep the squad together and get crucial players in for success.

IIRC Martin was on 1.2
