Luffy a big wrap for Combo's athleticism and ability to take it in the air but then have the speed and will to harass and pressure once it hits the deck.

He'll play a lot of footy next year, imo especially in the last half of the season.

Interesting they mentioned twice regarding our second round picks and still being able to trade up in the draft order.

I highly doubt we are done.

Will be some picks swaps imo.

With the reduced number of draft picks required, the reduction in list sizes, and the ability to take more picks into the draft than list spots, it will be an interesting lead up to draft night. Lots of pick trading in the lead up is on the cards, particularly with clubs with minimum numbers of uncontracted players.

They also made mention of next years mid season draft and the SPP period.

So looks like we might leave a list spot open going into the year or for the mid season draft.

I agree, although I am assuming that the mid season draft will be open to any club with a long term injury or retirement.

I really enjoyed that chat. Thought they answered all the questions thoroughly. Hope they do them more often. Genuine positive feeling around the club.
Yeah was good I thought. It's always interesting to get an insight into the collective thought processes that lead to a decision, whether that be a delisting, a trade target, a role a certain player has the scope to play despite limited opportunity eg: Stephenson's inside/outside traits.

I also thought the CEO (despite his reputation coming into the job) was a very affable dude. He seemed to get a kick out of the whole q&a process and was open to more of this interaction on a more regular basis depending on how it went down with the fans.

If the mid season draft is open to anybody that misses being selected in the upcoming drat their could be a heap of Vic kids worth taking.

It was good, wasn’t it?

Regardless of what was said, which in any case was great, the quiet self confidence they exhibited in their plan gave a great impression of a team that is in United and absolutely clear on where we are heading.

North Melbourne is planning for big things to come on and off the field, after a bumper trade and free agency period according to CEO, Ben Amarfio.
“We’ve made some strong statements in the last couple of weeks,” Amarfio said.

“We’re all working methodically on a long-term plan. Some of those decisions have been painful to make, but they’re the decisions that will help turn the club around.”

A special panel comprising Amarfio, GM Football Brady Rawlings, Head of Player Personnel Scott Clayton and List Manager Glenn Luff, convened to answer member questions on Friday afternoon and covered a range of topics.

Clayton, who has had decades of experience in the AFL said the club was on the brink of something special as it prepares to enter the draft with its strongest hand in years.

“As much as we’ve enjoyed bringing the players in this week, we’re ready to go to the draft, which is where it gets really exciting.”
“We’ll have five picks in December. We’re so set out, and so excited.

“I fully expect media and fans to say next year, ‘Gee, North Melbourne’s exciting’.”

Luff, who spent 20 years at Champion Data before joining North, said the acquisitions of Aidan Corr, Lachie Young, Atu Bosenavulagi and Jaidyn Stephenson all fill a specific need.

“We looked at our defence and we needed to stock up there,” he said.

“We’ve been able to attract Aidan Corr, who was one of the first names on our board, and Lachie Young, who we think has been underutilised.

“The other thing we looked at was speed in the front half of the ground, and Jaidyn and Atu bring that.”

Just finished watching. This was good. I hope they do more of these.

It was good, and they seemed to leave the ball in our court for future ones. I would, however, like to see a live format where they address questions submitted in the lead up and then a smattering of follow up questions. I realise that they will still choose the 'live' questions they want to answer, but it should result in more rounded discussion when they received a number of similar requests asking for them to expand on, or clarify, an answer.
