I am not too sure where the talk of trade pick 2 for other comes from, it's crazy.

There is a gulf between top 5 and the rest, who's idea is it to trade away that chance?

Holland would complete our midfield for the next decade. Our second round pick will most likely net us a good key position player.

Our pick 11 (soon to be 15) can be used to get a decent small defender.

This draft is one of the rare chance we get to go 1 up on the rest of the comp. Holland looks to be the most likely player that will standout in shorter time than the other players.

I did't hear anything guaranteeing " we are going to take one of the top five best", all depends what that top 60 is for us - the talk of pick swaps seems consistent.

I don't want to trigger the pick 2 fans, I'm one of them but I didn't hear anything guaranteeing keeping pick 2.

To be honest it started from Rawlings a month or so back here:


North Melbourne has confirmed four players on their list are untouchable as they enter their rebuild – Ben Brown and Jared Polec are not among them.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Head of Football Brady Rawlings listed Ben Cunnington, Todd Goldstein, Shaun Higgins and Jack Ziebell as the four players who would not be put up for trade.



On top of that, the Roos won’t be entertaining trades for their top draft picks either. They currently hold pick two as well as Melbourne’s first round selection.



With the disclaimer obviously that we changed our mind on Higgins once he became a Cats target and we could get value. The narrative doesn't seem to have changed on our draft hand though. I'm sure I've seen it re-affirmed since but eh, it's Sunday night.

Yeah cool - fingers crossed but same principles apply, opportunities pop up and its on!! We didnt expect Stephens either, that could alter our pick targets and major unknown is how desperate another club may be to get pick two and offer something worth considering that may improve our hand.

Either way we should end up bring in some good picks.

Live picking will be key too

lets say Mcdonald is available at 2 - no pick swap if we want him.

If he is goon , it may open up options to quickly swap down a little and secure our 2nd and 3rd priorities.

It must be hard core on the day.

If we want him... club rate him but not as big as others are saying.. pick 2 is on the table and club is listening. They know essendon will come hard but in a good position to either keep pick 2 or see what the offers are. If I had to pick it, I’ll say pick 2 is gone

Agreed. Once he’s over his injury, can see him teaming up with LDU to form a top line midfield.

Our equal best pick in history and we want to contemplate trading with the most dominant trader in the league?

I keep getting shouted down but judging Dodoro on his negotation only (not his list management) he consistently rips clubs off.

He intimidated Brisbane into a top 10 return, he intimidiated Carlton into a top 10 return and despite McCartney's pointless rant he took Caldwell for sweet FA too.

I do not want us getting into a street fight with some hobo with nothing to lose.

Hmm, trading out of the top tier for multiple picks doesn’t seem like the smartest move imo. * picks will get pushed back as well . Let’s not get to greedy and just take the best player available .

The McCartney rant was odd. For all the post trade bluster, he caved. If there was ever a team who could stand firm it was them, given the 48 first rd picks on the list. Add the 4 they have this year, plus there was a team picking at 2 who would've likely guzumped *.

On pick 2, I'd certainly listen to offers. It would take an extraordinary offer to prise it away though. Having observed Dildoro's work, it'd be hard to see him putting forward an adequate offer.

There are only two clubs to trade with here.

Gold Coast and Hawthorn.

And I'd only be listening for 2020 first and a 2021 first.
