Would Crows go for that? Also he’d cost a first.

They would probably like to dump him now that they are bottoming out. Paying him a fortune for years.

Left field idea. We take over Rory Sloan's contract for a few more years and get them to pay 50%. He's signed for 5 so must have 3 or 4 left. Pay him the bulk up front and then owe nothing in the last 2 and delist him if he break down. Gets us another gun for the transition period while we develop some youth.
Good idea, Sloane may think we are a better chance at finals. If we could pay half the salary and do a deal with Adelaide for Crouch, could be a goer.

Forget about trading in players. It doesn't work until you are at least top 8 or preferably top 4. Until this club understands that we are a bottom 6 club we will get nowhere. On the surface what Gallagher did last year might look good but we will never get to the top 4 with this strategy. We have to keep hitting the draft hard until we have a core group all under 25 that are god enough to get us into the top 8. Once that happens then hit the trade table hard. Carlisle, Hannas and Hill might be good players but by the time we are ready to challenge they will be retired. If it were up to me, whoever came up this strategy I would immediately sack them. Whether that be Gags, Satan or whoever.......OUT.

Yes... Sack the guys who finally seem to have a handle on taking this club forward..... Great idea.
They are not taking us forward jwikked. They have set us back 5 years with their strategy of recruiting old guys. Not to mention we are always in deficit with our National Draft picks.

Given the extremely low sample size of junior footy off which drafting decisions can be made, combined with the compromised draft class, you would think this is the year to trade our 1st pick for an established player, future picks, or trading it into a combination of 1st/2nd round picks to try to nab the roughies who might’ve bolted up the order, had the season played out.

There in lies the issue. I see the glass as half full.
We've got Hunter, Bytel and Byrnes to come in.

Mostly unproven but Hunter gets a tick and Bytel was pretty much the top inside mid in his year before his back went.
Peeps here be wanting Caldwell bet are forgetting that Bytel should be better going by junior form.
Byrnes is no slouch either. Snuck into some peoples top 20 before injury.

Then there's this years trade period. If we can get a good mid, or even two then Seb slips down a rung or two and he's trade fodder.

Just out of curiosity, why do you mention Clark by his first name and Bytel and Byrnes by their surnames. I noticed a lot of people do it. :p :D

Yeah , we need to see some form from those two guys before we start counting our chickens and selling them.

Hunter just sounds better than Clark.

do you call Lenny, Lenny or Hayes? :p

same will go for his little Hunter if he gets into footy

I know it might be asking too much, but if we can trade ross for a free list spot I'd do that in a heart beat, not to mention the cap space we'd get for him too, also the added opportunity for our young mids..

out ross, in list spot, cap space, clarke's midfield minutes

I mean dream scenario of course

Losing a player of any ability does not help the team.
Only gaining a player of good ability helps the team.
So.....
Great idea, lets dump Ross and play McKenzie.
( Not a great idea....that ...was....sarcasm ).

It's beginning to have a bit of a Newnes vibe about it.
I think Seb will be an RFA/FA next year, so if they're inclined to move him out, it should happen sooner rather than later.
I don't see him surviving in the new regime without a miracle.

Gears body is on the outs and almost certainly he'll retire, or at least he should.

It's just all to easy to send Sed to a new home and make a fresh start where the old status quo is no longer an option.

i've been as critical of gags as probably anyone on here, but sacking him now is too early.

the club is in a terrible position. they need to play finals ASAP. they cannot just keep taking kids in the draft. wait 3-5 years and see what happens. we've been down that path and its produced poor results.

so i suspect they've gone, we need to bring in experience now to make us more competitive.

the problem they have is the players they've brought in are bit part. they're outside players or fwd/def they're not engine room inside mids or match winning mids.

i suspect the whole strategy right now is short term. based around the length of ratts contract. which is 3 years.

crouch is the guy. he won't be very damaging, but we don't need him to be. we have other players who can do that role. that's why we got blokes like Hill
I've never really seen brad play a good game, but that said I don't watch adelaide much at all. His highlight vids look very middle of the road. But I know none of that matters if he gets the job done week in week out. I'm curious to hear other people's opinions on him though, I'm definitely not against the idea
