The trouble with trading all of your best players, is it bumps up your salary.
Jones will be getting paid more than he did hat the Swans.
Butler will be getting paid more than he did at the Tigers
Howard will be getting paid more than he did at Port.

Then we'll have our home grown talent finding out what sort of package the others are on and wanting their share.
For example would Lonie be happy if he found out Kent was on 10000K more than him per year? ( i have no idea if this is the case, just using it as a hypothetical ).
It makes sense to complete your list with trades, but i'm a bit worried we are trying to build our team with trades.

Don’t know why we’re talking about Charlie Cameron, he isn’t going anywhere.

If we’re going after a Crouch brother then it has to be Brad, Matt has been dropped for a reason. Can get plenty of the ball but doesn’t do much with it.

Yeah no point swapping Dunstan for a clone of Dunstan.

Not necessarily, the players would also be coming over on promises of either more playing time or of playing positions. Butler was on the outer at tigers same as kent at demons, jones was playing hbf at swans and wanted mid minutes, Howard wanted to be playing in defence and didn't have a clear role at Port. Saints have offered all of them with an opportunity. I dont think they would be on much more than their old contracts, that would be bad business

I'd happily have both Crouch brothers.

Matt doesn't do a lot special, but he gets his hands on the footy.

Guys like Hill, Billings, Hanners and Clark would all he better off with him in the side.

This is a guy that averaged over 32 touches a game over the last 3 years. 13.5 contested in that GF year.

Comparing him to Dunstan is a bit of a joke.

Yeah Matt isn't a superstar but the comparison to Dunstan isn't accurate either, He's Dunstan if he averaged another 10 possessions a week. At that point we'd all love Dunstan and want him in the side. The Crouches were big drivers of Adelaide's midfield when they were the best side in the comp for a few years. If we could pick him up for nothing it would be a good fill in at least.

Matt wouldnt cost nothing, but Brad would.

If we could get two for the price of one we'd be rapt.

Neither have a lot of pace, but that's what last year's recruiting period was about. We now need someone who's willing to get the ball out to them.

i agree we probably need one, only issue i have with getting both is how we fit both inside the best 22 with what we have now and what's going to come through.

C Hill Steele Hanners
R Marshall Ross Jones

with Gresh, Billings and Clark all running through there.

Hanners is probably the obvious given he's 29 but we also signed him to a long term deal, so we must think he has legs left in him yet. Plus i think the plan might be that Clark coming through will be his eventual replacement. As hanners reduces his midfield time to Clark.

So that leaves Ross, which would make sense. it feels to inside heavy if we bring in both.

what is interesting is if you compare the stats, they're very similar. brad and matt to ross. both have gone backwards like ross has for us. although if you compare them at the same age you get a different picture, surprisingly ross is slightly better. i suspect this is skewed by matt's stats coming from a covid season:

if we go one year back:

so it feels like a very minor upgrade.

i'm with you. i'd take brad over matt. same age as ross.

although i think we might need to look at another option here. maybe the growth is from within?

If we go for a mid I would go for a beast that can break through packs and cause tremendous damage like a Cripps , Bont , Rowell or a Ollie Wines

Have heard from someone close to the club that we have been talking to Ollie Wines since mid last year. Even so that someone from the club even had a couple of dinners with him. Still keeping in contact with his management at the moment and reckons there is very little chance he will be there next year. Apparently won't go to Carlton at all.

Can’t see as going after a big name trade target this year. Not a lot of draft picks to use.

A future second type player is where I would be looking or less. Players like;

Caldwell
Constable
Matt Crouch (if he keeps missing a game)
Parish
Ollie wines maybe

Free Agents
Crouch
Zac Williams
Viney

I thinks Caldwell’s speed suits our new style

Guessing we can rule De Goey out

I’m curious as to why the 2018 investigation came to nothing, only to justify charges 2 years later. With these crimes, the cases typically get weaker as time goes on, since a majority of the evidence is victim testimony.

I might be reading into it too much, but you’d think this means something significant has arisen in the interim. In saying that, if it was greatly significant, then you’d think he’d be in custody right now.

Don't we need to use our first rounder this year at the draft or can we go two years?

How much would Wines cost? More than a first rounder I reckon
