We are thinking about picking up Shaun McKernan wtffffffffff

DeGoey makes more sense now that we could he adding a genuine mid for the price of no draft picks.

Still not keen on his asking price and the indecent assault charge hanging over his head though.
We still lack some X factor and mongrel well he’s available if we’re prepared to pay the price.

Part of me says be patient we’re close but not close enough, the other part is telling me crouch, natural improvement a bit of luck and degoey could be all we need. Look he’s not dusty but fit he can play mid time and these guys just aren’t available very often so it’s a grab them when you can situation.

He's a jet. Nobody else in the side gives me more confidence than him with ball in hand. He plays about 70% of games, so that explains the lower possession count, but I wouldn't sacrifice his clean use for a few more possessions.
For mine, he's one of the first I'd pick, he sees players in space that others just don't.
A Jet , you must be kidding

Get this man back to marvel in a season where the whole team can actually train together AND and Steele and Crouch getting the ball out to him.

King’s gonna kick 50 with Hill feeding him
Then it’s on to Round 2 😎

3 time premiership player, best and fairest winner and one of the best wingers in the game getting a touch more than an 11 game player.
Smart business saints.

Exactly. We wouldnt get anything out of this.

So the Saints grossly overpay Crouch to ensure Crows get Pick 2 putting pressure on our salary cap

AND then ship off two players to ease the pressure on the salary cap caused by the above

AND then get nothing back in return

Sounds like a Dildoro special.

Good luck with the Crows Brad.

I really hope you're taking the piss here...
Why don't you jog on Carlton boy? Nothing to do with brown paper bags.

We wont take tips from morons who lost both Papley and Butler because of incompetence

If you are talking about Essendon having wage inequity being potentially disruptive then Hill fits the discussion perfectly.

One of the highest paid players in the comp, brought in with enormous draft collateral…

"One of the best wingers in the game" but can't crack our top 10 B&F.

He has a bit of work to do to justify the wage and trade, just like Jye.

I don't think Treloar is going anywhere, but I can't think of many scenario's where adding Treloar to our midfield if he is available is unnecessary.
Another 700k and a first round pick on another 28 year old mid with recent injury issues. Already have that in Hanners, Crouch the 27 year old version, Ross who will be 27 next year plus Hill on the outside who will be 28 next year. Would be putting our midfield at a completely different age profile as the rest of the list.

That money and pick would be much better spent getting in someone younger to spread out the age profile of the midfield or getting in some support up forward for King.

I would rather pick an extra small each week than ever roll out a side with Shaun McKernan in it.
If he’s getting delisted by Essendon, who have no decent tall forwards or ruckman, then that says it all.

well you either pay crouch enough so we get band 1 or you will have problems.

I just went and consulted the ladder and I think we'll recover from the disaster of missing out on brad crouch.

I'm sure he'd love to take over bryce gibbs spot in the magoos on a huge salary for the next 5 years

You save salary off the spuds that can't make your team. You will actually have more cap space if Web and Dunstan go. and it saves you wasting a first rd pick. It's a no brainer.
Paying Crouch way more than he is worth and getting rid of two AFL quality players of peanuts in return doesnt get us very far.

Puts us one injury or Ben Long suspension away from D Mac being the best cover we have.

If we have to let go Dunstan and Webster, we should be getting something usable back.

The myth continues

Overpaid?
No. 3 time premiership player, AA, B&F, runs on the board.
Jye Caldwell 11 ordinary games.

No equilivence

Gary Lyon suggesting we have upped our offer to Crouch and will trade Dunstan and Webster to the Crows.

Can't see it happening tbh but it would work well for both, especially if we get something decent for the pair.

If that is true then obviously there has been some “informal” discussion with the AFL. It would mean Crows are likely to get band 1 compensation, on the basis that there will be a reduced salary cap from 2021.

It would also likely mean a second round pick for Dunstan and Webster. Mutual back scratching.

Hill has a bad season but is a proven performer over many seasons.

Caldwell has played 11 games and not shown anything that indicates he is worth the salary he will receive.

Nothing alike at all

Am I reading this correctly.

Brad Crouch has accepted a 550k deal which the Crows are trying to make us increase.

And Jye Caldwell is going to Tulla for 550k?

Surely not.

Would probably have taken the spot of Marsh in the last final when Ryder couldn't play. We clearly lacked in the ruck that game so does seem like a logical decision to bring in someone who can ruck/fwd as depth. Not sure McKernan is the answer but it is slim pickings and would prefer a freebie than trading in someone and burning a pick on depth. If Crossley is an option then fair enough but a year out of the game is a lot.

I am intrigued whether we aim long term to put Ming through the ruck at times or to keep him away from centre bounces. Short term I prefer him to stay away. Not sure re. long term.

Adelaide will have 2 picks in basically every round of the draft after they get the Crouch compo. I’m sure it wouldn’t be to hard to convince them to part with something we can use in this situation.

Crouch deal has now been reported in the media to be anywhere from 550k a year to 800k a year. Sounds like they are throwing darts.

If we were getting a decent pick that, thats different.

But the scenario in the SEN article was us paying more, moving on two afl quality players and us getting nothing but a very late pick in return.

Thats not a good scenario for us.

Is McKenna an upgrade on Abbott? Clearly yes.

that’s the spot he is taking.

if there is truth in the Dunstan Webster news.

effectively we lose 750k in outgoing salary to crouch (Band 1 compo)
Dunstan
Webster
(1 senior game between both this year)

Incoming
Draft Pick/s
Brad Crouch
Free up easily $1m in salary from Webster and Dunstan who will be on decent to good AFL deals.
