I cant believe how bad that bloke is now. Just useless.

Anytime I think we trade badly I look over at them.

When Lever and Cameron walked out in 2017 they ended up with a draft hand of #10 #12 #16. As a grand finalist team.

Somehow they pissed that up into Bryce Gibbs and pick #12.

It was Dean Laidley grade trading and they deserve the fallout just like we did. Sheer stupidity.

Not to mention what they received from all the others that left them.
We at least can thank them for the Carey trade.

Laidley's trading was some silly stuff, i still remember the stupid trade for Mconnel or something of that name.

From Memory we had a few HBF, dont think that was the main issue

well, if we didn't like Hurn, the next two were grant birchall and travis varcoe; whichever way you look at it, the Daniel McConnell trade was a catastrophe. Bearing in mind we gave up pick 13 and 29, and got back McConnell and pick 18; guess what we did with 18? yep, Jonno Hay

What a year, what a memory

WILL HIGGINS DO WHAT’S BEST FOR ROOS?

SHAUN Higgins is genuinely committed to sticking with North Melbourne despite speculation he might be trade bait as one of the club’s few players with trade currency.

The Kangaroos haven’t raised his name in trade talks but if they are to rebuild they will want multiple early picks in return.

And he still has a number seasons at the top level as his form remains strong.

Last year when he added an extra season to his deal to 2021 he said he was keen to stay but would have left if the club wanted to let him go under a rebuild.

Those circumstances are now upon the Roos but nothing has changed from Higgins’ point of view.

“If they saw that it was best fit to rebuild and move on senior players then I was open to helping them under those circumstances,” Higgins said when he sacrificed money to stay at Arden St last year. “So that’s how the conversation started.

“If that wasn’t the case then I’m here to commit and I want to commit long term so all those boxes were ticked and we’re here today.”

Jon Brown threw up Ben Cunnington’s name on Fox Footy this week as someone rivals would want.

The hard calls have to be made and the Roos unfortunately have few players with trade currency.

That 'story' is the most vague piece of crap I've read this year - it literally tells you nothing..

Higgins said he doesn't want to leave and his name hasn't been thrown up as trade bait = let's do a story on it.. bwaaaaahhhhh FMD this shit is comedy!!!

This might be the biggest stretch of all time, but reading between the lines of that Higgins story I wonder if he'd ever potentially ask out for one final chance at a premiership.

Plenty of players in his position have opted out of staying at a club that wants to rebuild to instead chase success in their finals years. In fact it's just about a cliche at this point. If he gets the idea that making finals isn't our main priority next year then it wouldn't surprise me to see the trade request come in.

I read between the lines that he'd be pissed if we turned around this year and wanted to trade him out, after he sacrificed money last year to remain committed to North. And he'd be rightfully pissed, too.

whatever his feelings are on it as a result of last year, it's not like we're in a position to challenge in the near future. Plans don't always work out, and I don't think there'd be any hard feelings either from him or the club if we engineer a trade to a club who have better short term prospects in the remaining time of Shaun's career.

Maybe Higgins isn’t interested in chasing a premiership anywhere other than the club who helped him rebuild his career. And if a premiership isn’t on the cards maybe he wants to work with the next generation at that club.
Agreed that might be his mindset, my earlier post was if it was his desire to pursue a premiership, and wanted to try at another club. Not suggesting we'd push him out if he didn't want to go, I think he still has plenty to offer in terms of teaching the younger blokes his midfield craft.
