I would do a Polec for Angus Brayshaw direct swap (with us paying a portion of Polec's contract).

Polec 28 at the start of 2021 - Melbourne need classy wingers, Polec the cherry on top. Melbourne have the "cake", whereas we don't atm.
Brayshaw 25 at the start of 2021 - We need more players in their mid 20s

Brayshaw to lead the midfield in 2023 when he's 27 (Brayshaw, Simpkin, LDU, Thomas, Dumont, Bonar, Anderson, *Phillips*)

Mel just traded in two wingers in Langdon and Tom I know you said classy but assuming they thought they were classy!

All I’ve been thinking is, surely, we can trade a couple of players for junk picks, then bunch them together and try and upgrade a pick or two from guys chasing academy points

we dont even have a 3rd rounder. also you would need to take a points hit for someone to take your crap bundled up for an upgrade. you would likely find any picks we could bundle would be so far down the list that collectively with a discount to get some one to trade wouldnt even make the traded pick get into the earlier round. remember points run out at pick 74.

given how much dead wood (no pun intended mason :-0) we have to get rid off the only way we will get players to fill the spots is through rookie and DFA options, you would just be hoping we can find another gem like josh walker. whick is why the whole premis of a wholesale rebuild this year is somewhat flawed, we simply dont have the currency to get a bigger hand in the draft.

I'm not dismissing that Rhyce wants him to iron out things, but there's also fitness rotations to consider, and it's still a long way off adding any strength to the rumor that he wants out.
