I wanted Johnson this morning and for the past few days. Can't believe he's still available. Walking away with Johnson erasmus amiss and Benning is a friggin dream come true. While i appreciate the trade down thing and get an extra, it can also easily go pearshaped with wc as 1 example who could then trade up to take him. Personally I'd sound out North but no more risk than that and be happy with the extra 'top 10' player imo in mundy 2.0 and good mate of Erasmus

Johnson could have slipped for lots of reasons. One might be that he isn't super quick, one might be that he doesn't win a lot of the ball, one might be that he potentially indicated that he would not sign an extension with an interstate side and wanted to come home with Colin Young as his manager.

Not necessarily. If they feel that we’re likely to do a deal with another club, Geelong or Richmond say, who could take the player they want, they may decide to just outbid

How are North gonna outbid though, they don't have an F2

They have actively traded up in this drafts later rounds aswell to 34 and 37

North are wayyyyy more likely to trade down their 22 rather than trade up unfortunately


I think North see value in the Bazzos, Houghs, Williams + Vic types and would rather take their chances on that instead of a slider

I doubt we'd get a first and a pick in the 30's. I wouldn't be happy if we effectively traded out of this years draft even if it was a F1.

I think we’d probably rate one or two of the available kids as a first rounder. I mean we’re literally talking the pick after the first round.

A future 1st that’s likely to be 15-20 next year and a later 2nd isn’t an unrealistic offer imo.

Crazier things have happened than one of these guys being rated top 12-15 in our order. Fair to say some of the names still there are a big surprise. It’ll take a big offer.

I need a cup of coffee. I burst off the couch and made a quick cup o' Joe. Settled in and scrolled.... scroll... scroll... Jye Amiss... Scroll... more scroll... scrolled... Neil Erasmus...

Disbelief washed over me. I took a small sip of piping hot black coffee - staring off into the distance.



Our drafting has been spot on the past couple years, now we get a WA key forward and a solid mid. No go home factor. No "I miss my family and friends" BS. Not another HB or a skinny vic kid. Erasmus is only 17 for god's sake. He'll take time but what an upside this kid has got. And to draft someone who has the accuracy to kick 51 goals and only 15 behinds after driving 2.5 hours just to play? And, throw in the fact that we got another top 10 mid in Brodie AND pick 19 and there is still a ton of talent on the board? Belly holds all the cards. WTF? Am I being punked? Surely it can't be true.

FWIW I wanted Johnson over Erasmus but didn’t think there was much between them. If you told me we could get both and Amiss this time yesterday I would’ve laughed. Extremely happy with want we’ve done so far. Outside of stuff that was never going to happen it’d be a dream outcome for picks 8,10 and 21.

I’d take Benning with a late selection if required but in the dream scenario he’s a Category B rookie and we get an extra selection. Just getting him is good but it’s no dream scenario.

I think we’ll get offered a F1 100%.
It’s not that far removed to be offered a F1 and pick 30 this year as an example.

Our best offer won’t be future 2nd and slide 2-5 spots BUT it might be the one we’re willing to take.

All WA boys and would create great culture. Personally i would just take Johnson

If 12 hours ago anybody said would you take all 4 players im sure you would have jumped at it and rightfully so. Picks are just picks and getting a player like Johnson in 1 year earlier developing would be priceless.

Who knows what next year brings with the kids missing 2 years
