Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

Our top 6-8 players are good. Not top quality but at worst bottom half of the 8. I can't see how people think Gunston, Wingard, Mitchell, JOM, Sicily and Breust aren't as capable of taking us into contention the next 2-3 years if they all stay healthy. And by than guys like CJ, Day, and Scrimshaw plus DGB and our draft picks this year as examples should be primed to go along with them for the ride. You only need 1 or 2 of them to become elite. You need a ton of role players to create a premiership team. Put that in perspective when we decide which strategy the club wants to go with moving forward.

I agree that our top 6-8 players are pretty good but our current side is very unbalanced in terms of where the talent is.

Our backline is stacked with talent but apart from Mitchell we really don't have any A graders in the midfield (I classify JOM as B+ due to his inconsistency caused by his knee)

Until we get a lot more talent in the middle we won't be challenging.

We need to get a core midfield group that is capable of challenging the best (i.e Petracca/Oliver)

To be honest I don't mind King either; however, I think this little prediction probably didn't help his popularity around here..

I take it he started talking the Hawks up sometime after he tipped us for the wooden spoon in 2021?

The less people quote pretty much all footy "journalists" the better.

They are doing that job as no-one can take them as serious journalists.

And yes I understand the irony of quoting footy "journalists".

King saying Hawthorn currently losing the trade period as they haven't done anything.

Followed by Jon Ralph saying North Melbourne winning the trade period because they haven't done anything.

And Ralph goes onto Brisbane losing the trade period because they haven't done anything.

How totally moronic these nuffies are is mind boggling.

You think we have no good young players and Wingard Mitchell and O’Meara aren’t worth first round picks
We did draw with the Premiers and beat the Runners Up comfortably

We did also finish near the bottom of the ladder two years running too. For the few good wins there were multiple poor losses.

We definitely have some promising players coming through though.

He’s a starting ruck. Lynch is tracking along fairly similar to Reeves in terms of development.
Had some forward craft as a junior. I can see why we like him.

Let me tell you a story about Ian Silk, former CEO of Australian Super. A few years ago I had massive problems with the Australian Super support staff in getting them to fix an issue that they caused. Anyhow, after getting nowhere I thought that I would raise it at the Australian Super AGM when they allow the audience to ask questions. Anyhow, in front of a few thousand people I spoke on the mike to tell him my problem. He nicely asked if I could see him after the AGM which I did. He spent some time with me after the meeting and then had one of his offsiders follow up. They did and Silk got involved in the email exchange and checked that I was happy with the outcome. He's running the biggest industry fund in this country and he bothered to deal with a pleb like me. Anyhow when he decided to retire from Australian Super some years later I sent him an email thanking him for helping me out and wishing him the best. That Sunday he sent me a thank you email (not a pro forma job either). He's on the way out, it's a Sunday night on his own time and he's nice enough to acknowledge my email.

He's a great CEO and human being. Vote #1 Ian Silk for Prez !

And he's got an amazing mustache!

I wonder if Mitchell sold the board the prospects to quick rebuild by getting rid of senior players for early picks... Now that the rubber's hit the road, it's not turning out to be that easy.

Don't think Mitch had to sell the board anything. They liked and wanted him that much they let 4 x Premiership winning coach Alistaire Clarkson go.
If you think Sam is coaching because he promised to let go players for picks you're mistaken.

Haha yeah i think that had a bit to do with it actually. He filled in on sen for a few weeks and was talking about how much he heat he copped from hawks fans for that call.

Did a full 180

Same narrative again on the airwaves today. I'm convinced they've got it in for us now.
I've been saying it for years. Negative stories on hawthorn sells papers.
Even during our three peat it was always how hawthorn was weak, no good, etc

They need something to talk about. There hasn't been a wild Collingwood 2020 type disaster to talk about, or even just big name players moving. This trade period has been an absolute snore. We came out through Vandenberg and announced that we wanted to improve our draft hand through proactive trading (and Kennett fuelled the fire in his usual unhelpful way), and we don't look like achieving our aim because other clubs (and Wingard) aren't interested.

It's not a big story, or even a very interesting story, but it's all they've got this year, so they will milk it for all it's worth. It's either that or Cooney coming up with 6 club trades that will never happen.

Three points:

1. Those 6 players have been central to the team for the majority of the last 5 seasons, when we have slid from premiership contenders to bottom 6 two years in a row.
2. in 3 years time, they’ll all be 3 years older. Bruest 33, Gunston 33, Wingard 31 Mitchell 31, JOM 30 and Sicily 30.
3. Most of the top teams have their guns in the 23 - 28 bracket.

Mmmm doritos can you throw in some salsa?
It’s pretty rancid how the media operates. They absolutely have it in for hawthorn because certain individuals have JK in their sights. Others had issues with Clarko. Now we are an easy target. Mitchell is going to have a bloody hard time turning the narrative around. It was Buckley, McGuire and Collingwood last year and they tore them down. It’s Hawthorns turn now, the media has us its sights and we’ll have to be United to right the ship.

Who says they are our best players in 3 years time
