Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

I'm a bit surprised. Great that Luke wants to stay with us, but at 30 he is not likely to play in another final. From the outside GWS look to be in their premiership window. Players play football to play in finals, so.....
I actually think he's probably the most likely of all the 28+ brigade. He's durable and consistent.

True but when you have already won three, having a longer term plan for living in Melbourne and parting his knowledge on the younger brigade coming through could appeal to him more at this stage of his career. He has always struck me as a one club player every tim ehe has spoken. Which I know doesnt mean much but he seems the genuine type.

Not a hope in hell they consider that.

My guess is it was 13 to us with 24 or a 2022nd rounder going back

Am I missing something?

13 to us with 24 going back to them values Breust as being worth Pick 41. What the hell. He was absolutely elite before going down injured this year. He's a star. Pick 13 is massive unders for him. If other clubs think otherwise they should be told to kindly **** off.

Does anyone have Luke's number ? I want to give him a call and sell him the GWS dream !

How could anyone make a deal involving 13 for Breust?! It's not like any club has ever paid through the nose for a player they believe will be the difference.

It would be outrageous to pay up in the draft for an older player that might help you win a flag!

Literally unheard of!

Far too many journalists cover AFL because they all try and out do each other. I’d be very surprised if hawks and gws sorted out a deal before asking Breust if he wanted to go

Its fricken ridiculous isn't it. Sort the deal out before even asking the player

But they all wanna leave! Fire sale!!!!!

To be fair, I haven't really heard anyone in the media saying the players want out? Which is partially the issue towards the stated goal of improving our draft hand.

Isn't the narrative around us looking to move on players? Which is probably partly correct (a good trade outcome), but far less dramatic than is being reported (happens at every club looking to rebuild / not pushing anyone out the door against their wishes).

Can't fault the intent from the club, as frustrating as it is when you consider Bombers somehow got a top 10 pick for Saad and top 10 pick as compo for a banged up Joe.

How did that one work out again?

How did pick 13 go for West Coast in 2016 and 2017?

Mate, it happened - that it didn't work out doesn't mean that it never happened. Clubs will pay more than draft fetishists think if they believe it'll give them a good chance for success.

Might be in the minority here but there's no way i'd trade Breust for pick 13.

He could play another 5 years and he'll provide the team with at least 30 goals a year for the remainder of his career, pick 13 will blow out to what-pick 16? A player who's no guarantee to play 20 games..

The time to look at offers for Breust were in his free agency year but it's not worth it now

I think you would find that it work in parallel. Sam and others have said that will discuss deals with other clubs, but the player will only be asked of his thought if they think it's a serious chance of happening.

So GWS and Hawks talk and say, so what would this look like? They get some sort of agreement where they feel like they're both on the same page and a deal has very real potential.

Then, because it's more feasible than just a hail mary for a future 4th, the club ask Breust "this is whats on offer, what do you think".

Breust says "nah, I'm good thanks", Hawks say "fair enough".
