que the...I would prefer to keep Crouch and unfortunately I can see Noble wanting him and prepared to pay and I get the feeling Matt would be happy to play under him if he had to and they have heaps of cap space.
He's got Ziebell and Cunnington both turning 31 next year and very little until 23-24 y.o.
They get Matt and take Horne and they're building a decent midfield with Powell, Phillips, LDU, Simpkin
First round picks are almost always used based on talent rather than need. They will go best available and if that is Horne (unless he has given them some reason to doubt his commitment to them) then that is who they will pickSam Darcy is the only key forward in this draft that any club would give up pick 1 for.
For pick 1 why would North do that when for that kind of collateral they could trade for an AFL level proven commodity.
At least give Noble some credit for being a stable thinking individual not a fool.
Cryptic..black white and teal?

What Crow was our best player in what was the 2017 Grand Final shitshow....I'll give you a hint, it wasn't Brad and it certainly wasn't Rory Sloane or Rory Laird.
Adelaide will entertain offers for two of its star free agents, Matt Crouch and Daniel Talia.
Rival clubs, particularly those based in Victoria (where Crouch and Talia grew up) have this week become aware of Adelaide’s willingness to let them walk out of the club.
Senior sources at Adelaide have also told The Age that versatile veteran Tom Lynch is also unlikely to be offered a new contract, which has raised eyebrows among some teammates.
Neither Crouch (groin) nor Talia (foot) have played this season as they deal with ongoing injuries and both are in the final years of their contract.
Crouch has long been linked with a move back to Victoria and those noises have only become louder since his brother
Rival clubs told The Age on Wednesday that both players would be valued at approximately second-round draft picks, mainly due to Crouch’s injury history and Talia’s age.

Hawks eye Docker; experienced Crows up for grabs
Matt Crouch and Daniel Talia will be allowed to walk from Adelaide if their free agency compensation is appropriate, while Fremantle’s Lachie Schultz is on Hawthorn’s radar.www.theage.com.au
Why would officials do this. Would do litttle for team harmony. I would have hoped we would treat Talia with more respect. Let’s keep these things in house. McClure whether we like him or not is often on the money with Adelaide. There must be someone who gives him good oil. Nicks team first approach does not seem to fit with this leaking. Is it roo that is talking to the media
If we got 3 and 4?? Why trade that for anything??que the...
“maybe we can get North to agree take Matt as a free agent on a big enough deal to get us band 1 compo.. we finish with pick 3 and 4.. and we agree to trade 3 & 4 to north for pick 1.. north get Matt and two top 5 picks.. we get Horne.”
playstation trade ideas...
Interesting , my memory was Nankervis was very influentialThe only positive I took away from that game was that I thought it was the best I had ever seen Sauce play. These ratings are consistent with that.
You didn’t but the ratings guys did that you posted . I didn’t rate their ratings hahaExactly where did I say Brad was awful on the day? He was far from awfu but certainly not his best Finals game, probably in our top 5 or 6 that day and way better than most of the team.
My recollection is that quite a few thought Houli would have been a good choice for the Norm Smith?
Noble is a big fan of Matt
Can you show me where I said he would beI’ll tell you right now, and you can bookmark this and ridicule me if im wrong. There is no chance Matt Crouch is at North next year. He’s literally the only type of player we don’t need.
We are throwing a mill a year at Kelly who has an outside game. Crouch is slow and missed a year of footy.
That's a lot of money for Jake. That will get us pick 2-3 and we appreciate it. We'll let him know and he will be better than Polec.I’ll tell you right now, and you can bookmark this and ridicule me if im wrong. There is no chance Matt Crouch is at North next year. plan BPresumably, in the context of this proposal, North throw another $100k onto Matt's contract to get the compo up a band. But only if the subsequent trade happens. If we got 3 and 4?? Why trade that for anything??
It’s like deja vu all over againPresumably, in the context of this proposal, North throw another $100k onto Matt's contract to get the compo up a band. But only if the subsequent trade happens.

Sloane on current form is the poor fit not Matt, and it's hard to see Sloane turning it around in the twilight of his career unless he finds form big time he should no longer be a regular midfielder. I would also argue Matt's delivery into the forward line especially hitting up a leading forward is superior to both Keays and Laird's skyscrapers.
I think people forget how impactfull Matt was to our midfield when he was being played as the in and under inside mid feeding it outside the contest. For some reason the coaching panel last year seemed to try and change his game style to more outside....dumb move IMO, why try to teach an old dog new tricks when he was so effective at what he does best, hunt the pill, gather and feed it out....if only we had more effective outside users like Seedsman to take advantage!!!
I think we'd be prepared to match the coin... I just don't think we'd be prepared to match the contract length he's likely to be offered elsewhere.Because on the coin the Cats were offering we were prepared to match.
Are we prepared to match for Matt?
I don't know, do you?
Look, in a vacuum, I’d be moving on Laird and keeping Matt and Keays as our two contested midfielders going forward. Move Sloane to a forward flank. Matt as the pure inside ball winner, and Keays as the secondary ball winner that is more aggressive with his ball use (hence his high I50 count)
Problem is that we’ve already committed to Laird, and I think it’s pretty clear we are better off with only two pure contested ball winners in the middle - obviously due to midfield balance, and especially if we want to look to further develop the games of Schoenberg, Berry, Pedlar and any other draftees
The counter argument is that we won’t get fair value for Matt due to his FA status (deserving of more than an end of 1st round pick IMO), so you are then forced to figure out how to fit all four in our side. Particularly as I get the feeling we won’t send Laird back to defence
I do agree Sloane is a problem, but really, it's hard to see him having genuine midfield minutes in 2022 seeing Schoenberg should really usurp those minutes with another preseason (he should now, but we're a dumb club who have decided to let Sloane play with a busted finger).
Matt however is on the precipe of ending up a very poor fit. After all, as your comment with Matt alluded, he's an in and under mid with not much else to his game. That's ok in a vacuum, however we also have Laird and Keays who both are in and under mids with limited tricks elsewhere as a midfielder, and we have Schoenberg, Pedlar, Berry and hopefully pick 2-5 in the pipeline for those minutes at least*. Schoenberg has an easy path in, seeing Sloane is all but done (though you can tell our coaches aren't ready to face that world at this point). It gets sketchier afterwards, but it is only a matter of time before Berry and Pedlar end up in the midfield at least.
The vital thing a senior player needs to have in a rebuild is flexibility. That they can reinvent (or revert) themselves in the forward line, or defense once the next gen is ready to usurp them and be able to rotate through.
Matt Crouch? He doesn't have that ability and a non KP senior player without it is dead weight in a rebuild. After all, that just leads to the crossroads of "do we stunt an important prospect, or do we just cop the dead cap space" decision. Both are terrible choices. Especially in the midfield as it makes Crouch the anchor piece instead of giving the next gen ownership.
Now if only we could resign Matt for 1-2 years. That's the dream situation for us, as we'd get Matt for the period where it'd be really handy to have him, and we've moved on before it becomes a problem. 4-5 and we'll end up regretting it providing Matt doesn't take a significant hair cut.
* + some other kids. I'm beginning to get to the point I want to see Jones get another shot in the guts seeing his confidence, and attack on the ball has really stepped up since the Saints game. O'Connor/Hately could force their way in with a big preseason. McHenry/Murphy could be an interesting rotation piece.
