Pretty similar to what they say about Rayner from Brisbane alsoOliver was a star almost immediately .....but Petracca was being talked as a potential flop, having talent but not the workrate .....potentially being a permanent HFF
Burgess gets him fit & WOW !
There's a monumental difference between being an elite kicking midfielder which you seem to covet and a proficient kick, you're dreaming if you think the perfect mid even exists.Let's focus on polish. If you can't kick I don't care how 'big bodied' you are.

When you say "most are predicting", do you mean Twomey who has reported he's "now entering first round calculations"?Whatever pick but he's top of my list as the difference maker in this draft that should be available to us, though I suspect he goes higher than most are predicting.

No offence, but do we really care what Kane thinks? This isn't info and it's hard enough avoiding this flog as it is.Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has teed off at clubs for offering long-term deals to “fringe” players, saying the practice “blows my mind”.
Fremantle are reported to have tabled a four-year deal to contracted Geelong youngster Jordan Clark, while Carlton are widely expected to bring George Hewett across from Sydney on a deal of the same length.
Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, Cornes said the length of deals being offered to players like Clark and Hewett to lure them out of clubs was bizarre.
Why would a club offer Jordan Clark four years?”, Cornes asked.
“This is what gets me, and George Hewett who’s going to go from Sydney to Carlton, I read four years - Why would you give George Hewett four years? That makes no sense.

He probably has a point on Clark. Surely it's 4 years on poor money as he has shown bugger all so far.Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has teed off at clubs for offering long-term deals to “fringe” players, saying the practice “blows my mind”.

I'd be unhappy offering 4 year deals to fringe players, as a way of luring them to your side ......now that said we've offered 5 years to Dawson ....depends on your interpretation of "fringe"
EDIT ....SYD had to off-load Hewitt .....so you didn't need a 4 year carrot
1) never said we would be playing in a GF in two years time.. my point was that if Keays is still one if our main mids in two years time that we’d be nowhere near a GF…1) we likely won't be playing in a grand final in two years anyway
2) Keays is probably best as a 3rd or 4th best mid rather than our 2nd best, but to say that he can't be part of a GF team is ludicrous. He'd easily be Melbourne's 3rd best pure midfielder right now
Brayshaw of the GF and of 2018 maybe, but otherwise you can’t be serious?WTF???… keays wouldnt even make the Dees 22.. Keays couldnt even make the Lions best 22, thats why they delisted him.
I’d have Brayshaw and Viney then a thousand years of daylight before Keays…

Edit: You can laugh at that all you like “Danger in Texas” but who out of that dees side on the weekend would you say Keays would take a spot in the 22 away from?..

I'm talking top 10, that's where I have him on talent as well as the kind of player we should be bringing into the mix. When you say "most are predicting", do you mean Twomey who has reported he's "now entering first round calculations"?
Sparrow, too. I know they play different roles but I’m sure they would make room for Keays ahead of Bowey, ANB and Spargo as wellKeays would be picked ahead of Harmes every day of the week.
That's your opinion, clearly it's not shared by many but you've chosen your hill to die on so be it.1) never said we would be playing in a GF in two years time.. my point was that if Keays is still one if our main mids in two years time that we’d be nowhere near a GF…

Jordan Clark would be playing in a lot of the AFL's best 22 without any doubt at all. Geelong have several players that have been wasted over time and should have been playing over several of the geriatrics getting games. Narkle, Kreuger, Clark and Constable come quickly to mind. Higgins and Rohan are past their use by date.Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has teed off at clubs for offering long-term deals to “fringe” players, saying the practice “blows my mind”.

I really don’t understand it. Not only is he a very good footballer, he’s played just 68 games - 68! He’s nowhere near complete as a player. Probably 2023 will see him closer to his peak.A point that seems smart until you realise that even if we do everything right, we're not going to be near a grand final in two years time. 3-4 years, maybe?
This is where it pays to take a quick gander at a stat sheet before committing to a strange comment, as 2021 Keays has Vineys number and it's a pretty significant gap between the two.
Disposals? Keays is up by ~ 6
Goals? Keays can actually claim to be a goal kicking midfielder with 12. Viney has 5.
Score Involvements? Keays averages 0.2 more (and in a weaker side).
Defense? Viney averages 1.1 more tackle, and 2.4 pressure acts. Both players are rated as elite in these facets.
Kicking efficiency? Keays is 4% more efficient by foot, and that's despite Keays averaging 120 more meters gained per game (which would lower kicking efficiency).
Clearances? Keays edges Viney 5.5 to 5.3
Viney wouldn't get a game if Melbourne had 2021 Keays available to them. Ben is a clear step up as a defensive midfielder. The only benefit Viney would have is it cost Melbourne less to keep him, but that's only relevant for a 2023 Keays.
Keays is a strange whipping boy for this board, seeing he could easily find himself as an elite midfielder next year with a couple of minor corrections.

West AdelaideClark should have been playing in GEEL's side too ....the lacked pace, and Clark had pace, and when played in position did wellJordan Clark would be playing in a lot of the AFL's best 22 without any doubt at all.
