Side note: I did a ladder predictor last night and still have us finishing 13th (wins to come against North, Hawks and Pies, losses against everyone else). Had us percentage only ahead of the Saints.

Now, the season potentially being played out in full in Melbourne would be a nice way of potentially ruining these wins, so maybe we lose every game from here on out? 😂

Gold Coast will be lucky to even win one more game, North are still a 98% chance of the wooden spoon (2% chance that they get above Gold Coast only), but there is still potential there for us to swan dive into 16th.
Daicos....
Most likely scenario is us landing in 13th-15th when it’s all said and done though. Pick 4-6. Blows out to 5-7 with Daicos certain bid. May blow out to 6-8 with Darcy potential bid. Either way, when you remove Horne, Daicos and Darcy from the pool, we’ll get one of the best 5 remaining players. One of Roberts, Callaghan, Chesser, Rachele, Sonsie seems a likely scenario.

Banking some 2nd rd compo for Crouch and trading 2 of our 3 2nd rounders top acquire ANOTHER one of the above players, or someone like Hobbs, Draper, Sinn or one of the top couple of WA lads also makes a lot of sense.
On your scenario 6 - 8 because son of Luke is now right in the same discussion as Horne and Daicos and clearly the top tall in this draft sure to bring a bid before our pick.

Doable, but there isn't an obvious trading partner at the moment, outside of the Dogs who are my tip for the premiership. GWS depending on where a bid lands, but that's touch and go.

That said, condensing and moving up, even if it's lets say, 22 + 23 for 18 still makes a fair bit of sense in our situation. We don't exactly need to increase how many kids we have at the moment.

We suck away from AO
We've played some good footy away from home, just not consistently. Also, we lost to Freo and the Giants at home.... Probably our 2 worst games of the year

sorry to hassle you with these questions, but if Darcy had not attracted a bid by our pick wherever that is, with our need for elite midfield prospects, would you think Darcy would attract a bid from us if there was a chance of landing him..but then we miss out on a Callaghan / Hobbs / Roberts etc. Is Darcy a player looking too good to pass up IF somehow hypothetically the dogs don't look to match a bid

Not happening I'm afraid...and btw Darcy is now 203cm not the 197cm quoted in this article

AFL U19 National Championships trials: Vic Metro v Vic Country replay
The son of Western Bulldogs champion Luke Darcy has lit up an U19 trial match, with North Melbourne tipped to bid on a pair of gun father-son prospects.

Opposition clubs believe North Melbourne could bid on both Nick Daicos and Sam Darcy with the first pick in this year’s national draft as the son of Western Bulldogs champion Luke Darcy firms as a top-two selection.
The Dogs father-son prospect booted six goals for Vic Metro in one of two trial matches against Vic Country on Sunday.
Darcy has shown his talent at both ends of the ground with Oakleigh Chargers in the NAB League this year as an athletic 197cm key-position player.

But recruiters view Darcy as being a key forward at AFL level, which was further backed by Sunday’s starring performance.
In the first trial match, Vic Country captain and Greater Western Victoria Rebels midfielder Ben Hobbs was a standout performer as an inside midfielder.

Hobbs won plenty of the ball and also floated forward to kick two goals.

Classy Sandringham Dragons midfielder Finn Callaghan was also impressive in that match for Vic Metro, as was captain Josh Ward.

Add Finn Callaghan to those.

I can't see Draper going that high personally, I think we could trade down and till get him and another player with our 1st pick.

Yea with his injury both he and Roberts probably drop a bit. I'm fine with that, I think Arlo has the rare trait of being that bigger sized mid who is strong overhead and can hit the scoreboard but wins his own ball at will. Fyfe like, I've been following him closely at South given it's my local and I think he's criminally underrated generally speaking on pure ability (power ranking). He does probably go second round in the main thing at this stage. Delicious upside.

Agree on Callaghan he's one I forgot to mention as is Sinn with his kicking ability. Ideally, 2 firsts this year used both on gun mids would be a fantastic result for us, there hasn't been a better time to trade up than this year.

And secretly I hope we somehow get Hobbs, he's just a strong, hard and tough footballer.

And similarly Benny is my local hope and I know he's working extra hard to develop his outside and link play to go with his already well developed inside game .

Sure. I'm not interested in arguing on this.

I'm confident if we move to a hub in Melbourne our draft pick will improve.

I'm not convinced that Hugh Jackson won't go before Arlo.

From what it sounds like, Hobbs will be right up there as well.

I don’t think you’re far off with Arlo at all. Was all about ceiling and upside with him. Then he goes out and gets himself in the BP’s for the reserves. Might not have been far off a league call up.

Fortunately or unfortunately whichever way suits your argument, he has been cut short now and we won’t see how far he might have developed in the 2nd half of the year with Champs added in.

Im with you though - could be anything. For me it’s his clearance ability and his breakaway pace from stoppage. Such a valuable skill set

Rememver we have already taken Parnell. I think he will be given another contract.

So even if we take the minimum 3 players it's actually 4 we've taken.

The reality is, there are so many options in this draft when it comes to midfielders, both with our first pick and later into the teens and 20’s

Hoping we can get another pick in the late teens possibly to grab Arlo, seems like that’s where he’ll go at this stage

If you had a pick in the teens and both Arlo and Hugh Jackson were available who would you pick?

Just putting this out there, but if McAsey comes on like Weitering has, Thilthorpe continues to be a jet and we nail this very heavily stacked midfield draft, we are going to look like absolute geniuses...
And part of drafting McAsey (I still think he was always our target so we did the pick downgrade) allow us to get GWS pick 9 where we drafted Pedlar.

Unfortunately I'm afraid I'm not seeing too many similarities at all between Weitering and McAsey from their 1st season onwards in their AFL careers.

Only real blip in Weitering's career was when laughing boy Bolton tried to make him a forward.

Weitering actually received a Rising Star nomination in his first season after a 26 disposal 9 mark round 3 game and finished 3rd over all in the 2016 voting.

Callaghan obviously, size, speed, excellent disposal, run and carry and rate of development this season given he didn't play any footy last year.
Contested ball stand up ok on weekend ? That’s his main ? If it’s ok abs he has the other traits sounds excellent for us

Weitering ave 15 disposals and 5 marks in his 1st year.

Developing nicely IMO not that I'd want him to be in and under, he's the receiver you want the ball in the hand of delivering forward.

We'd have to **** up big time not to get a good mid with our 1st pick in this draft.

Arlo’s kicking ? Technique looks poor but Shoenberg’s did too and he’s turned out ok . Does Arlo kick it well ?
