Unfortunately I'm afraid I'm not seeing too many similarities at all between Weitering and McAsey from their 1st season onwards in their AFL careers.

Only real blip in Weitering's career was when laughing boy Bolton tried to make him a forward.

Weitering actually received a Rising Star nomination in his first season after a 26 disposal 9 mark round 3 game and finished 3rd over all in the 2016 voting.

Well, 2020* was hardly a year for draftee development especially for KPD so McAsey is a year behind development compared to Weitering and he did go pick 1 compared to pick 6 which is a massive difference.

why is it that the years we have a high draft pick, the top player or couple of players are f***ing Academy, then when they change the rule, they are father son (not even academy) so they are still going to be off limits.

In any normal year, with pick 3 say, a side could take one of Horne, Daicos or Darcy (Knightmare is absolutely huge on him and thinks he is likely the new no 1 player now)..but even if you had pick 2, there is every chance you miss out on all 3. just our f***ing luck

Don't forget we bottomed out the year GWS got the first 10 picks as well, we should have had pick 4, ended up with pick 10 for Luke Brown I think (with Brad for Davis deal).

We probably would have taken Wingard, so maybe not a bad thing...

past history suggests that we could mess this up again. Although whilst I have been critical of Ned and Jones I have seen areas where both these guys are developing. Jones is improving on the back lines and Ned although small looks like he is getting muscle into his arms. I wouldn't be throwing these two out just yet.

Just putting this out there, but if McAsey comes on like Weitering has, Thilthorpe continues to be a jet and we nail this very heavily stacked midfield draft, we are going to look like absolute geniuses...

People writing off McAsey just need to go back and look at Weitering as to why you just need to give KPPs time.

It's all about Round One next year for McAsey. Let's just spend the next 9 months getting him ready for that, with rotations in the twos and the right kind of physical development.

We shouldn't have access to Horne unless we win the spoon. He would be perfect for North, dynamic and powerful to compliment Powell and Phillips. They would be insane to pass over him.

More realistically, Roberts/Hobbs/Chesser/Draper, would be happy with any of those with our first pick

It only takes a few poor performances in the championships and a few other to rise and who knows what will happen.

Someone that can play now, a really good midfielder with some speed that can f**king kick, it’s not that much to ask is it?
