Nice stuff for a 17 yr old

Nice spotting and passing to the player early but the 1minute mark long run and lead impressed. He decided from a long way out he was going to get the ball (look at his starting position to finish position) ie he started in the opposite back pocket and marked on the angle in the opposite flank

Worth keeping an eye on Riley Jr

Who is Westies forward coach?
John Ramsay

Excellent point- as supporting evidence I submit Christian Petracca(25 years old & has peaked this season).
Petracca averaged between 17-20 disposals and close to a goal a game from the beginning of his career. Some of our guys may not get to this level at their peak and that's the concern.

Mutineer ...do we take Isiah Dudley as a NGA prospect ....given I doubt he falls in the Top 20 of the Draft

Is he the quick small fwd we crave to replace Rowe ??

I'd take him yes, not super quick but quick enough and looking at him I'm pretty sure his fitness will improve in an elite system if he's prepared to do the work. A much much more complete player than Newchurch.

ATS where in the Draft do you think he falls ?

Hard to say given small forwards that are more than that can be pretty popular these days and Isaiah is certainly more than "just" a small forward.

Gut feel back half of the draft, given he has more than the "small forward" role in his kit bag I doubt he gets through to the rookie draft.

Lachlan Grubb is a bit of a surprise, he's a 19 year old isn't he? I know he's very quick but draftable?

Pleased they kept Luka Whitelum in, reckon there's a bit to work with there.

The Redlegs poorly represented.
Indeed just the unfortunate Cooper. Thought Matt Dnistriansky was a bit stiff, having a very good year and thought he was decent last Friday - but possibly suffered from having both Rayson and O’Loughlin available as distributors. Legs had 3 in the 17’s so good crop coming through.

Yes Grubb 19 and was not on my radar.

Paul Thomas doesn’t like Grubb. It’s a character issue. Has some skill but not the mental application for senior footy.

He came for more AFL opportunities but that hasn't worked out too well for him.....and that's all down to one person, Jackson Hately who is but a shadow of the player we saw for SA at the Nationals and for Central Districts in the SANFL League team in his draft year. Just looks so pedestrian pace wise now and spends too much time focused on his opponent rather than using his size advantage to attack the pill.

I just hope it's not the coaching instructions to play so defensively when the balls clearly there to be won.

I don’t doubt being wanted and courted played a big part, but you can guarantee he got plenty of money to demonstrate just how much we wanted him.

I don’t watch a hell of a lot of senior footy, but I’m sure I’ve read a few pieces on here that say almost the same about Chayce Jones. Could they be coached the same?

There is a magical "C" word that comes to mind. Confidence.

You could tell we absolutely wrecked Jones confidence by the move to the midfield before he was ready and its taken a year to really get back to a good position for him. Hately looks the same in the SANFL where everything is devoid of swagger.

I'm just hoping it's an injury thing, more so then a long-term issue.

With Jones and McHenry it's be patient, don't write them off too early, their talent will shine through, look how long it took Darcy Parish etc.

But also Izak Rankine hasn't done anything yet which means he never will, write him off NOW
Haha yeah exactly

speed and class …. He’s got 2 things we need the most yet people forget fast

So one of the top midfielder prospects of this draft, Finn Callaghan, is a Vic Metro kid from an affluent suburb, family links to Luke Beveridge and is a Bulldogs supporter.

Yay

PASS!!!!!

And? Bulldogs can’t magically conjure up unlimited draft pics. The Darcy bid is going to wipe them them out for the majority of this Draft.

They’ll be looking to trade their 1st rounder (probably late 1st round) to someone else for points to meet the Darcy bid

Callaghan will go to another Melbourne club, and then he’ll end up like the other 70% of VIC kids who play for one club but probably support another in the state

Vic Metro kid from inner city Melbourne with ties to an existing Victorian AFL club.

Smells like a Jack Gunston flight risk to me

Depends how much they might fancy him. If he is still on the board at the mid point of the 1st round, they might have some kind of pick swap lined up for live trading on the night with a club that might have a f/s highly rated for next year that needs points

Fischer McAsey board. I'm still surprised he re-signed.

Yes and no. I doubt the offers were flying in. And if he's as shy as they say he is, he probably struggles making new friends. Leaving to go join a whole new playing group probably scares the shit out of him.

If Josh Kelly leaves GWS then GWS will likely have 3x top 10 picks.
They keep getting these great draft hands year after year but it just makes no difference..

Like you say they could end up with 3 top 10 picks again this year.. Problem is... they have classy midfielders coming out of every orifface.. they need talls.. defenders and forwards.

Looking at the current top ten draft prospects... its chock full of full time Mids and mid/forwards.

The best tall is a FS and unavailable to them.

They’d be better off trading out one or two of their top 10 for either a few more late teens picks where they might get some value to spend on talls in that range.. (jack williams/jye amiss) or trading them into next years draft..

And keep 1 top 10 to hopefully get Gibcus.

Bit of a pickle for them really..

If Adelaide want to trade next years pick into this years top 10 then GWS is who we should be talking to..

And that is the sole criteria a professional AFL club use for selecting a draftee - he barracks for our club!! Spare me.
