?? We still need to identify the best players even if it is just one. But aren't we required to draft a minimum of three?
Is there a way to find out clubs' current 2022 draft picks?
Shows you how brilliant Reid is in negotiation. I'm happy enough with the 1st next year and its not important but do we ever win in our negotiations. If you put points value on yesterday's trades and assume that the ADL/MLB future picks have the same value as this year you get:
ADEL - Out 2,033, In 1,548. Net loss 485
MELB - Out 1,895, In 1,795. Net loss 100
ST K - Out 287, In 373. Net gain 100
WB - Out 1,025, In 1,524. Net gain 499
So in effect we dumped the equivalent of Pick 37. Obviously if we improve from 15th and particularly if Melbourne drops from 1st this points differential would improve by say 50-175 points.
I also realise that picks such as 62 & 64 had almost no value to us. We'd likely only use them to upgrade rookies at best (can still use 80/98) and they had no trade value to anybody but St Kilda who may use them for an NGA match in the 21-40 range (which also means that we cannot do the same for O'Laughlin/Dudley if called in that range).
A 2022 Western Bulldogs 3rd Rounder (233 pts if runner up) would have been nice to balance things up a bit and as possible steak knives for Sydney.
The outcome of this deal must have really pee'ed off Sydney.

well we won't know in points terms until the end of next year where melbourne finish..finish lower than premiers and maybe we are then ahead on points etc.Shows you how brilliant Reid is in negotiation. Not sure Re this ; we are showing a bit of contempt for this draft after early part which makes sense given the SA talent is thin overall and also the vic kids are underexposed with minimal footy for 2 yearsUnfortunately Dawson and the difficulty his recruitment has forced on us we are losing quite a bit of 2021 draft capital so there's several SA lads that I think would have been in sights we will no longer have the picks to secure them.
Which clearly we had no intention of using and probably rightly so if we are looking to gradually improve the quality of our listMore than half the points we gave up are in the 4th rounders we handed over
I was going to add something similar this morning but ran out of timeNot sure Re this ; we are showing a bit of contempt for this draft after early part which makes sense given the SA talent is thin overall and also the vic kids are underexposed with minimal footy for 2 years

They must have thought we were bluffing.I don't know why i'm even still thinking up these scenario's as i've essentially taken JHF off my draft board, but this one came to me last night and I thought i'd throw it out there.
3 way trade
Crows
Give 4 + 2022 1st Round pick
Gain 2021 1st overall selection
GWS
Give 2 + 13
Gain Pick 4 + Adelaide 2022 1st (and banking on the Crows staying low on the ladder)
North
Give Pick 1
Gain Pick 2 and Pick 13
In terms of points the Kangaroo's make out like bandits (730 points above market value) to only drop 1 spot. GWS is in a better spot to grab their tall and reload into next years draft with a real shot at another top 5 pick, and we get our wonder boy for the price of 2 x 1st round picks (which would actually be a bargain to go from pick 4 to 1).
It's not as if North Melbourne gave us a choice. The Sturt U18s wouldn't have been able to lose to North Melbourne that day.Reading these trade ideas show just how stupid it was to win that extra game this year. One less win and we'd already have pick 2.

Think Kyle Langford .....hopefully we develop Eraasmus better than ESS did with Langford .....Langford just starting to breakout this year & has some real weapons

wingard is staying at hawks, he has already hosed down those rumours so its not that.
Hawks get our 4 for their 5 and 21 or 24?Rendell said he thinks there is some deal to happen between Hawthorn and Crows? but he didnt specify anything, anyone got any ideas to that?
So you're suggesting both Reid and Nicks were just posturing when they said we'd be hitting the draft hard again not all that long ago?Not sure Re this ; we are showing a bit of contempt for this draft after early part which makes sense given the SA talent is thin overall and also the vic kids are underexposed with minimal footy for 2 years
