Last night I saw the the first signs of Boak slowing down. Age waits for no man, ….except Dustin Fletcher.

Boak should be enjoying a half forward / half back bit playing pre retirement role. He shouldn't be playing long midfield minutes at all. However he is running himself into the ground to carry his side. T

He is a good B grade defender. But how often do defenders ever get traded in a straight swap for an A grade Midfielder. Port have literally no players they could trade for anything worthwhile unless they trade out Wines, Rozee or Butters.
If he was a KPD then sure but he isn't so a good B grade is being very generous, he is only a bit better than McKenzie (that's saying something) and has a very low ceiling.

Dixon is such a disaster in big games

He is all huff and puff

If Dixon was 10cm shorter he'd be considered no good. The only reason he is surviving is his height gets him into some games. But he never has been a genuinely good footballer.

Few on the Port board suggesting they want Nathan Buckley instead of Ken Hinkley

Would he actually be any better though?
Back to back home prelim finals losses will be challenging to bounce back from, and may leave scars on this playing group

Ken will coach on 2022 however I think only a flag next year can save his career at Port

Not many coaches stay at a club for a decade without a flag, although Bucks and Brad Scott made prelim finals ultimately they lost their jobs for not winning a flag within their 10 years at their respective clubs

Bucks would be a logical target for Port however would he move away from Melbourne to coach Port? Bucks new partner is very much someone who seems to love Melb and the bigger city.

Im not sure Bucks would move away from his kids as well.....

Clarko might be a more logical target, but coukd they afford him?

Last nights match showed just how overhyped Port are and the list.

They were overrated all year, won a few games as others fell back and then people thought it was their year. I don't think the dogs are getting enough credit, all I read is Port choked when the dogs at their best this year were better than Melbourne. Their % was far higher until the last month when they couldnt win a ruck contest. Their midfield is close to West Coasts or Brisbanes in their prime, they're all machines who kick goals.

This game was more the Dogs being far to good rather than Port not turning up

Port I think beat a few top teams because they were in a finals training patch. They were made to look better. The bulldogs didn't even look puffed last night. You can tell when a side lays it all on the line like a grandfinal. Port were a week too far into the finals imo. Brisbane were a better side. Luck of the draw and playing a dads army in Geelong the first week made them look better. 100% if Port made the grand final next week, it would have been an 80 point thumping at least. Melbourne would have demolished them. The bulldogs did them a favour.

What time period does this cover?

Midfields littered with top ten picks.
Helps but if it was only that easy Carlton, GWS and GC would have created dynasties.

We have 4 top 10 picks and only spent half in the midfield and they weren't our highest picks either.

Next 2 years 1st are huge.
If we can nail them and Pedlar and Berry step up to go along Schoenberg, McHenry and Cook we will have huge depth under 23 y.o

If he coaches out the next season goes from #5 to #1

When you don't change your coach for a long time and have had minimal success, your culture can become stale. Port are a stale club. I am calling it now, in 2023 the crows will be ahead of them on the ladder and smacking Port in showdowns. Port will be back down with the plebs.

Some of them want Bucks because he’s ex-Port, he’s strong and intense and seems to have a clue, and at least got the Pies into a GF.

I think he’s be a big upgrade on Ken, and not just because most people would be

Whether he’d come or not, who knows

What I think is more likely is a change of assistants, especially if Schofield is already off to the Eagles. Bassett may have used up all his credit too, plus it’s either change assistants or change the coach and the latter would be an admission that they’ve kept him too long

But yeah, I’d go for Bucks. Surely there are board meetings happening right now churning over what went wrong and what the options are. Given other clubs are making changes and need coaches they’d be moving fast

50-50. My view is that you don't win a game by 70 points just by being better; your oppo has to be poor as well.

Yeah I was expecting Port to bounce back, kick five in a row, make it a 3-4 goal win, but they didn’t. Credit to the Dogs for not letting them, but also they didn’t seem capable of arresting the flow
