It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Yeah absolutely. I think there's a little less leverage here with GWS because they've made it pretty clear they're looking for positional need though, right?
Ha, well, as you can see from the comments in this thread, I don't think Caruso has made clear what he's likely to do - indeed, the message seems to be that he's not yet decided. If he does decide it's not going to be Callaghan, then I'm sure he'll consider a trade to get extra value ... but needs to ensure he doesn't lose who he prefers (as the primary selection), be than Mac Andrew, Josh Rachele, Josh Gibcus, or someone else.

P.S. I'd just comment that Caruso doesn't see it as ''positional need'', he sees as it as ''career-length best available''. So, if he sees a guy who's well regarded, but their peak might be less than someone else - he'll go for the latter. I think his comments also mean that he's cognisant if ''best available'' is a guy who won't really get an opportunity with GWS, he might consider someone in a different position. There's a fine line of wordsmithing in there, no doubt!

If we want to trade down and get a future first, perhaps we could trade our 2022r1 for gold coasts 3 2022r2's.
Then trade pick2, 2 2022r2's for 5, hawthorn2022r1.
Given those 2022r2 's could be freo, collingwood,
It might work out as acceptable to all parties.
Just trying to conr up with ideas, I don't see how else we trade with hawthorn if we want to trade down (assuming 2 for 5,21 isn't acceptable to both us and hawthorn).
That's possible, although quite a convoluted trade. It still forces hawks to give up a 2022 first round selection, which they don't want to do.

We can run through a stack of 'what if' scenarios; indeed, I'm sure Adrian and his team are spitballing lots of those scenarios too, to work out what they would vs wouldn't accept in a trade. We'll have to wait until the night itself I suspect to see what plays out.

AFL Draft 2021: Follow the latest news and moves

The Giants will shape this month’s AFL Draft at pick two. The club’s recruiting boss opens up on their plans, bidding on Nick Daicos and Sam Darcy and more.

Greater Western Sydney recruiting boss Adrian Caruso says the Giants are likely to reject rival offers for its coveted pick two as clubs clamour to move up the board. Caruso confirmed the club has had advances from rival clubs for the prized selection but, while there is still plenty to play out, said they have not been appealing enough to consider a trade. He said offers would need to be “compelling” for them to give up the pick tied to Collingwood, which the Giants secured in a live trade on draft night last year.

The Giants are yet to make a call on whether it will place bids on father-son prodigies Nick Daicos and Sam Darcy, tied to Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs respectively, with Caruso saying the decision may be left until the week of the draft.

Caruso told the Herald Sun Footy Podcast the club has four top-line players in its sights for the second pick of the draft. News Corp understands this draft quartet is game-breaking midfielder Finn Callaghan, athletic ruckman Mac Andrew, dynamic forward-midfielder Josh Rachele and intercept defender Josh Gibcus. “There definitely have been clubs behind us that have asked the question,” Caruso said. “Even though those clubs are keen to get up (the order), those clubs don’t seem like they are throwing up anything that is really taking our fancy. It is also hard to get your head around trading a pick that is in such a good spot. It would want to be a pretty compelling offer. While there are clubs that are interested sitting behind us, it is good for us to have flexibility and to be in a position where we’ve got options. The most likely scenario is probably that we take the pick… but it is hard to get a read on anything until closer to the date when we’ve finalised our order and what our strategy is.”

Caruso said the Giants’ priority will be working out their draft order before contemplating whether to bid on Daicos and Darcy, who are expected to be matched by Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs at any stage of the draft. “That will probably play out the week of the draft, I can’t imagine us making a decision before we know what our plans are with our picks,” he said. “Obviously Darcy and Daicos are great players and they are going to be great players for the clubs that they go to, but because they’re ultimately not going to end up with us. We feel like we want to nail our picks first, and that is pick two and 13. Ultimately we might bid, but we might not bid. It is just a really hard one to make a call on at the moment before having done all the work on the boys in the frame for us.

Asked about whether the club will draft on needs, Caruso pointed to players who have left the Giants in recent years due to a lack of opportunity, stressing the importance of drafting players who will fill a spot in their best 22. Former Giants midfielders Jackson Hately and Jye Caldwell, both taken inside as first-round selections in the 2018 draft, left the club last year after being stuck behind the queue in a talent-rich GWS midfield group.

His biggest issue has always been finding a position on field.
Where do you think he fits in the side?
Personally I'd like to see him played as a KPD but if he feels most comfortable up forward that seems like where he's going to be played. It's going to be pretty crowded competing for that third tall spot in the forward line he's going to have to battle with Riccardi, Flynn, Sproule to win it, so it wouldn't be surprising at all for him to have stretches in the VFL side if the others are playing good footy.

Caruso’s apparently lack of interest in kpds this draft suggests Brander might have filled any apparent need they had

He looks a talent and fills a definite need. He has admirers everywhere, even Gold Coast at Pick 3 like him. If we didn’t take him with whatever our 1st selection ends up he will be gone. Gives the impression that he would have limited flight risk.
Think at this point if the target is Rachele and they want to trade back they shouldn't drop any lower then Adealide at 4 because if their interest is genuine which it seems it is, they could very well pick him at 4. Assuming of course Adealide would take Callaghan at 2.

It will most likely only be a week prior to the draft until we come close to locking in our 1st pick.

That said if we are focused on adding to our forward stock there are a lot more small/medium forward options in the draft that we can grab at pick 13 that are every chance to be better then Rachele while in comparison Mac is a very unique tall forward talent.

But if it was my choice pick 2 would be Callaghan and then we would look to move 13 up the board and try and get Mac but safe to say the chances of Callaghan rocking orange next year are very remote.

Mac can play forward but I don't think he is one, in the AFL unless something changes he's going to be a ruckmen. Maybe he can have stints up forward for parts of the game but I think the hope of Mac developing into a key foward is misguided imo. Rachele is pretty cleary cut the top/most dynamic small forward in this draft , I think you're overselling everyone else at his position in this draft by saying they have every chance to be as good as him, theres a reason why Rachele might a be a top 5 pick and the next best small forward might squeeze into the top 20.

Perhaps we should trade back then with gold coast, get an extra 2022r2 (freos or collingwoods, maybe both if we add our own 2022r2 to the trade).

Why don't you feel like MAC could be a FF? Just a vibe?
His draft profiles all talk about his athleticism and ability to mark the ball at its highest point. I understand there is more to playing forward than that, but from what I see in his tapes and draft rundown; the guy looks like potential incarnate to me.
Super mobile (sideways steps), good hands, tall and will build size, massive leap.
Giants will get the chance to mould him into whatever they want. I don't see it as misguided at all.
He could still end up being a mobile ruck that pinches forward...but from what I've seen I'd be primarily training him up as a forward.

Sounds like a Rory Lobb...

That's why I'm hesistant with Mac, he seems more Ruck then forward which not something we need at all. If he can develop into a number 1 key forward target then fantastic but I think he'd have to hit like the 90th+ percentile of his development which is very unlikely for anyone.
