Good!

I think he's going to surprise a few next year.

I think he has another gear and has it in him to do it.

Put the wheels in when dropped to VFL.

Good on him - really happy for him!

Could Mirkov play a couple of games next year, or is he miles off? I don't think we'll bring in another ruck (maybe draft a ruck/forward to replace Cas). Is TDK, Pitto, Mirkov, McDonald (if we keep him, hope we do) and SOS ruck depth that we can get by with in 2022? Could we see McKay have a run in the ruck? Interested to see how we'll line up in this area.
Would not ever use McKay in the ruck, way too valuable. I have seen Mirkov (limited exposure) and he will be a great tap ruckman, but is at least a year off. I don't see TDK as a first ruck, not strong enough, got bullied by other ruckmen (Darcy) when he got tired and couldn't jump. Need Pitto to be fit and Mirkov would be a safety net, with TDK playing the Casboult role as forward / ruck. Probably need to pick up a experienced backup ruck as McDonald is really a forward who can pinch hit in the ruck. Fort (Geelong), Lynch (Collingwood), plus a few others could be good pickups. I see this area as a real weakness for us until Mirkov (although still a project) is ready, the rest will be middling ruckmen. Gawn, Natinui, Grundy, Big O, Darcy can bully most of our rucks.

Started to look real good , finally over the injury which has hampered him for years.

One of a few mids that we have that can push forward and have real impact

Coming into his prime, great signing👍

My boy Honey has apparently also signed on for next year, according to this article, though nothing official from the club as yet -

Carlton
Out of contract (10): Jordan Boyd, Matt Cottrell, Mick Gibbons, Matthew Kennedy, Oscar McDonald, Lochie O’Brien, Matt Owies, Luke Parks, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Sam Ramsay
Petrevski-Seton has requested a trade to West Coast that could see out-of-favour Eagle and fellow first-round draft pick Jarrod Brander become a Blue. Restricted free agent George Hewett is expected to leave the Swans and sign with the Blues for up to four seasons. Josh Honey has re-signed for 2022 after an impressive end to this year, while category B rookie Owies will likely ink a deal of the same length. Kennedy had his best season to date but Hewett’s impending arrival could complicate matters, while O’Brien’s future is also up in the air.

The great thing about the age profile of our list is that we are not losing any players that are best 22 and we've already gained two players who are likely to be best 22 players. If we can combine that with a half-decent run with injury for the first time in a decade then there are many reasons to be optimistic in 2022.

He's a rookie so might have to just hold and see whether we keep him on the rookie list or promote him. I'm sure he'll stay. Kennedy is the interesting one, I think he's a delisted free agent? Wouldn't put it past Adelaide or someone lacking midfield depth to make him a better offer.
Nevermind...well done Nick Austin

Doesn't say anything about rookie/senior list. I assume senior (and I think the Rookie thing was a special one-time COVID allowance).

I wrote this in Bluemour thread: Kennedy is good enough to play AFL, but not guaranteed games if Cripps, Walsh, Cerra*, Dow, Setters (2020 form) are all fit and in the 22. Not so much an issue on talent, but in terms of inside/pace balance.

Perfect fringe player. Not on big $$$, but can perform more than adequately when needed.

Would surprise if he isnt in the Voss best 22.

I feel uneasy and disappointed everytime I hear that we have delisted Levi Casboult

I don't think it can be the senior list (yet) - we don't have room. We will go 36-6 across senior and Category A rookie lists next year, and we still have 34 Senior-listed players now (with Murphy and Casboult gone), 30 of whom are contracted for 2022 (and that does not include Kennedy). Add Cerra and Hewett, we're already at 36, with three National Draft picks to come. Which means delisting at least three of our four uncontracted players (SPS, LOB, Gibbons, Ramsay) without bringing any other player in.

It's possible we might upgrade Kennedy with our final National Draft pick if it ends up being super-late... but I don't reckon they have made that decision yet.

I do not. And I really liked Cas.

He was a limited footballer for a number of years.

He then had a sweet spot for a few years, where he was an excellent KPF/KPD/Backup ruck.

He was beyond woeful this year (mostly injuries). He'll be 32 by start of next season. At that age, you don't hang onto a footballer, hoping he finds form again.

We desperately need someone like him on our list. But I'd rather target Riccardi/Shlensog/Brander/Ballenden/Other than eke out the final season(s) of an ageing, limited, back-up footballer.

All my concerns about not having enough $$$ for Cerra is now thrown out of the window - just make it happen CFC - somehow :straining:
... but, leave enough $$$ for Walsh :D

Looking at our best 22 for 2022, Cerra is definitely a need - such a good fit for us and young too :D
