The contract will have an "out" clause. Just like all AFL coaching contracts do. It's not slavery. So he signed for Norwood? And gets an offer from an AFL club. And you expect him to stay? Really?
I haven’t read anyone saying he has to stay at Norwood only that they deserve some compensation for being f***** around at the mercy of an AFL team that don’t have the depth they thought they did.

OK .....St Kilda go on a HUGE recruiting drive over a couple of years, signing big name players to longterm Contracts ....seducing these players away from their incumbent clubs with these deals

St Kilda got Brad Hill, Paddy Ryder, Dougal Howard, Dan Butler and Zak Jones

This year:
The Saints pumped up their midfield through the signing of restricted free agent Brad Crouch, added excitement into attack with Jack Higgins and solidified their key position forward depth after snapping up ex-Bomber Shaun McKernan as a delisted free agent.

Now they've requested their players take a pay cut to stay under the TPP ......have St Kilda been clever or dishonest with this recruiting tactic ??

Heard it yesterday, only saw he was playing with a VFL side in this thread, apologies if I upset you by repeating news... do you deliberately act like a tosser to make some sort of point?
To be fair, this is DAYS old news. Presumably you haven't been here or on AFL.com.au for a week or so.

It is why they targeted BCrouch.

Quality player, our club had no offer to him on the table during 2020 for whatever reasons.

We essentially pushed him out. But expected other clubs to pay a premium, we totally misread the market.

St Kilda set his worth, no other club had similar offers and it was cheap.

Smart recruitment by them. Target a guy thier club wants to offload, offer a cheap contract to get quality in under the TPP. And if we use the threat of matching the Saints and BCrouch knew we didn't want him so PSD avenue was real.

don’t forget the highest paid of them all - Hanners

Ouch... 32% ($18.65m) decline in revenue. They did extremely well to cut costs by 31% ($17.86m), to only come out with a $279K operating loss for the year. Considering the year that was 2020, I think Port's management would be very happy with that result.

*** How TF did they cut operating costs by almost $18m? I assume Adelaide did something similar. Staggering the number of people in the AFL industry who must have lost their jobs in the last 12 months.
I'm assuming this is after taking in to account all the hand outs they got.

I'd love to know what their real financial position is without the handouts, i.e. their real operating position

Port Adelaide has unveiled its bold vision to build an era of unprecedented success on and off the field.

Port Adelaide has unveiled its grand vision for the next five years, headlined by winning three premierships, having over 100,000 members and eliminating $12 million in debt.

Dubbed ‘Chasing Greatness’, the five-year strategic vision was revealed to members at the club’s Annual General Meeting on Friday by Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson.

Richardson said the club had a “vision to build an era of unprecedented success at Port Adelaide”.

“The reality is in the AFL-era we have not achieved greatness,” he said.

“We have the opportunity now to strike but it just doesn’t happen.

“Our mission, the mission at Port Adelaide is simple and it always has been, it’s our purpose and it’s what our club has been built on – it is to win premierships and it’s the measure of success.”

The strategic vision is built around six key principles that Richardson said was “a picture of the future and what we are aiming for over the next five years”;

I mean, might be farfetched, but at least they're announcing it rather than our "We had a 5 year plan and we achieved it" pat on the back talk from Fagan.

How do you win or lose an internal trial by 115 (oh just 4 points off)?

Apparently they switched to best 22 in one side for the second half and they ran away with it. Which might be a bad sign about the Powers depth, but a best 22 AFL side probably smashes a SANFL side most days.

What is the point of having an internal trial where you play best 22 vs reserves?

You don't learn anything as it's basically stars vs witches hats

Wasn't the whole match, just most of the second half. Would likely be about making sure your preferred 22 have their structures and set plays down pat.

It’s just normal blokey pub humour. IMHO.
I generally wouldn’t say this kind of stuff but I have friends and acquaintances that do occasionally. I laugh with them and wouldn’t call it out because everyone is free to say as they like in my opinion. I like free speech, it gets it out there which is probably healthy as is swearing 🤬.
Doing it on tv is problematic though because of all the softies and virtue signallers piling in with their silly outrage.
Ah, so the old “boys will be boys” eh? 😳

To show their supporters how awesome they are.... buy your membership now as they can belt any sanfl team by 10 goals.

Be interesting what they do next week,
Going on the past, the Crows will play mostly top-ups as a last chance type selection process in the SANFL trial and In the AFL trail rotate most of the AFL squad thru the AFL trial game.
Port going on the past will play a decent SANFL side and there best 26 in the AFL trial

But yea for Port it will be more about impressing their supporters.

Well, in this case, someone decided to be a sex pest.

I mean, surely Norwood get something and really, if they have a key forward floating around, you have to give them some credit for a creative way to earn a quick buck.
