All the Northern Academies grow the game among kids. In our case we stepped in when the AFL had demonstrably failed to grow the game. We do not get a brass razoo for our efforts and it is self funded.

IMO the AFL have now got it pretty close to right with the NGA's.

No bids inside the first round.

I would like to see that extended to the northern academies, and potentially the top 10 for Father Sons, although I would also like to see the games threshold reduced.

Father Sons is a unique part of the game and something I would like to see preserved.

However lets not pretend we are in some fantasy where fair enters into the calculation for anything. The AFL have their thumb on the scales for a great many things. Where they have a vested interest in seeing a club succeed then the harder the application of the thumb.

But yeah I get you particularly in the Dawson situation, uncover a gem and it gets swooped on. At least you’ll get something back for him.

Neither. I'd rather we back Will Phillips in

100 percent but I imagine we’re talking about that bigger body inside mid that could shake things up in our rotation. I’m not saying it’s a must but unless Tarryn adds 10kg of muscle, we just have one other inside mid left and that’s Cunnington. Yes Jed hits packs hard but he isn’t going to be pushing Wines, Martin or Bontempelli out of the way.

Also it just wouldn’t suit his TT game style to put on some added mass and play more inside, being that mercurial silk midfielder.

Similar to how Cripps will help Cerra and Walsh. We need one more big insider. I’m advocating Zuurhar does more midfield rotations and practices as a mid/forward.

I know I went on a bit of a tangent here. Sorry...
